Aren’t the plugs on the side and do you still have easy access?
@hathawaywego

You are correct; the plugs are on the side. We used elbow adapters from amazon so the plugs don't get damaged. We used them even before we did the conversion. amzn.to/3y90ePy ~D

Do you have a video on changing airstream lights and a dimmer switch? We bought a used airstream. One light is not working and a dimmer switch.
@hathawaywego
@hathawaywego 23 күн бұрын
We don't have a video specifically for changing out the lights, but we did change out our 12v reading lights front and back. I can't speak to a dimmer switch, but we used regular home light fixtures for the swap. amzn.to/3WkY8nO The important part is to use a 12v light bulb if you do replace them with regular home fixtures. ~D

Two 8 Foot Kayaks is what we start with. Sometime our Generator with propane. Various tools and our electric bikes in 42 gallon tubs. A foldup table and our chairs along with rugs. It is nice have a long bed dually and not having to worry about payloads like I did with my 1/2 ton truck and our 25 foot Airstream we had before.
@hathawaywego
@hathawaywego Ай бұрын
We have just started with kayaking and love it. So far we've just been renting/borrowing while we try to figure out what to get. We'd love to know what you have and if you like them. We might have overbought on the truck, but it's nice to know we don't have to worry about payload. I think a lot of people don't take that into consideration.

As little as possible, lol. My F150 has a max payload of 1781, hitch weight is 654. We mostly camp local, so we pack the 5’ ladder, chairs, maybe the 17” Blackstone. We did probably exceed the payload when we went on our weeklong family trip to Niagara Falls a couple weeks ago, but that’s a one-off.
@hathawaywego
@hathawaywego Ай бұрын
I'm pretty sure we overpack for every trip. 🤷‍♂️ Payload does play a big part in towing and not many people get that. How fun to go to Niagra!! Did you stay in a park near there? ~D

Yes, mold is real. Even in Arizona. We live in Arizona City and found some mold starting under one of the Airstream mattresses where there was not air flow. The slats are a good idea. Or anything else that you can use to accommodate air flow under the mattress will help. Glad you will be able to enjoy the original floor space as intended by airstream. We also extended the width of the base to support the width of the mattress.
@hathawaywego

The dogs have been doing great in the crate so we're trying to figure out the best option for moisture remediation and mattress support. Crazy that even in AZ heat we have to worry about mold! ~D

Haven't sold the Airstream yet, and it doesn't look promising in the current economy. Fortunately we love our Airstream and aren't in a hurry to sell. We'll keep on traveling and upgrading until things turn around. We're selling because we really love the vintage Airstreams and think it would be fun to modernize one. ~D

My wife would love twin beds as we have the east west one piece mattress in our Bambi where someone has to crawl over the other person to get up at night. Making up the bed is a real chore, too. Don't know if you saw my comment about having to cancel our trip to Dolores but both the a/c and the refrigerator crashed on us starting on Friday with the 110 heat. I'll be able to get the rig into We Are Airstream on Wednesday, leaving us no time to get to the Rally even if they can fix it in one day. Question: What size a/c do you have and who made it? We have a 11k btu and I want to upgrade to 15k btu. Safe travels to you both with puppies sleeping in your new bedroom. S
@hathawaywego
@hathawaywego 2 ай бұрын
The twins really add a lot of visible space, especially when you're looking from front to back/back to front. There's probably no more room than in a queen of the same model, but we really like the way the beds and the storage are set upl. Hopefully We Are Airstream can get it right the first time... we've had our rig in there. When we got it back we re-fixed what they fixed with our walls, but they got our awning computer and arms fixed under warranty.. Your mileage may vary. We have 2 Dometic 15k units with soft-starts. Been happy with them. Let us know how it goes at the dealer! ~D

Informative and hilarious! 👍👍 We pull our ‘23 Caravel 22FB with a 2019 F-150 and love it. When I was originally looking, my only criteria was having off-road, tow package and a panaramic sunroof. I’m 6’4” and having the panaramic sunroof makes it feel so much more spacious! And I agree - seats are super comfy.

As a rule I don’t give out advice, but I know how painful cold sores are and this ointment has been a game changer for me. It is also very inexpensive compared to over the counter options and works faster and better.
