If anybody that has a 8883 thinks they're fast bikes you never rode many bikes I probably rode 15 different 883 and if they're stock they wouldn't pull a greasy string out of a cat's ass those bikes are not fast believe me they are great bikes best looking and best sounding bikes puts out now all this European stuff they are going to a straight garbage with that said ride a V-Rod and then ride a 883 and tell me that irons fast

I've got a Kingpin, and I love it,buuut I've been wanting something easier to get out, and back road, run to town, and throw around through the twistys. Got me a Sportster, and I know I'm gonna love it. I'm 6'2 240 lbs. I've been on plenty of Sportsters, and I enjoy them greatly. It ain't about what some loser thinks. It's about what you think.

I'm constantly amused by the comments on videos like this. I started riding 53 years ago, on Triumph 650s and 750s. They were considered BIG BIKES back then. I owned a Norton 850 Commando for a while and that was considered a VERY BIG BIKE. That was in New Zealand and Harleys weren't sold in NZ back then. I saw only one Sportster and one Lowrider that I can recall in the 70's. I moved to Australia in 81 and I saw lots of Harleys then! However, I had travelled the length and breadth of the whole of NZ on Triumphs and I was surprised to hear Aussie Bikers talking about how you couldn't do long rides on them, yada, yada, yada. Fast forward to 2009 and I bought a 97 Sporty from a mate and over the next few years I rode it on 500 miles per day trips a LOT! I replaced the front 27 tooth belt sprocket with a 29 tooth one, which meant it cruised more smoothly at 70mph, at about 3-400rpm less than with the standard sprocket. The bike came with a 2-1 exhaust that gave it a bit more grunt and a dynotuner coaxed the HP up to a reasonable 56, but I decided to research big bore options and decided on the Hammer Performance 1275 kit. I kept the stock heads (with a vale grind, etc) and stripped the bike down to the last nut and bolt, before a complete ground up overhaul of everything, as I installed the HP kit. The results are impressive enough! It have to watch how hard I twist the throttle at the lights, or the front wheel leaves the ground surprisingly easy. Power and torque are somewhere in the 80s and the bike just FEELS right! I hardly get into 5th gear, unless I'm on the Freeway and spend most of my time in 3rd. The extra power means I don't have to twist the throttle as much to maintain the speed, so I get MUCH better milage than I used to; between 55 & 60mpg. The tank I have is the 3 gallon (US) one and while I haven't done a true test of how far that will take me, I've made it 160 miles before switching to reserve, which is not bad. I usually like to stop and walk around a bit at that point anyway. I've sone 2000 mile round trips from Melbourne to Brisbane a few times and although I keep it to 500 miles per day, they're okay on the Sportster. I have mid controls and highway pegs, plus the pillion pegs, so I have a wide variety of positions for my legs, which makes it easier. (I am knocking on 70 y'know!) I think you'll LOVE the 1275 mate. Look forward to an update! Sportsters forever!

3 years later and I still see these "Sportster on the highway?" clips. I don't understand why it's even a question. Back in my youth, I took a wee Kawi 440 between Oklahoma City and Boston a couple of times. It was not a terribly comfortable ride, but the bike handled it fine. An 883 can do it even better. Is it the "best" for the highway? Probably not. But there is no question it's fully capable of safe, fun, long distance rides. I still ride Sportsters and think it's one of the best bikes Harley ever produced. Come to think of it, in my dotage, my Sportster sure is a lot easier to muscle around than my Road King. Especially trying to back either one over the ruts in my driveway pulling them out of the garage. I really gotta get that driveway repaved.

My 2000 Sportster 1200 with a good air filter, 2 in 1 exhaust and a good carb tune has way enough power to get you entertained up to 80 mph. I installed double disk brakes myself and it brakes very well now. The only thing I wish is a 6th speed but that's way too expensive.

I'm looking for a used Sportster now. Winter in Montana is good time to buy. My wife hasn't said no to it, so this morning, I told her to not be surprised if she sees a bike when she gets home. There better not be, you're sick and need to stay home, and I will be going with you.

I've had a few different Harleys and the Sportster was the most trouble-free and easiest to work on. In my opinion the Evo Sportster was the only motorcycle Harley made that was absolutely worth the price tag.

These giant groups rides are sick. Great video! Always wanted to do a big stage group ride… but I ride fast and I think I am mostly antisocial on the road - so blame myself. Maybe I need to chill out and get a Harley like my dad used to ride. Haha 🤘🏼

@streetsandpeaks30132 ай бұрын
I run the go pro because after years! 10 Years of running GoPros on the outside of cars and loosing them at speed my GoPro survived every abuse I threw at it… and most of that time the audio sucked! Then when the media mod came out I resisted it until I started vlogging on my bikes. It is cool with the dual mic - for static vlogging but on the fly it can’t compete with wind noise and like you said there is no adjustment for gain / filter software for standard plug and play mic’s. The solution for me is the Rode Mic - wireless Me dual mic system. It has all the software tweaks you need AND still has the ability to isolate the mic in my helmet or get both mic’s - wherever I put them. I have an old BMW R1250R video with the brutal media mod only sound … and since then the Rode mic take over has been amazing!! From there I separate my audio in post.

Ps I have only watched this video … do you normally post in 1080? Maybe ramp up the video to 4K now that you have the audio dialled. 👍🏼

Sportster was made for ‘little girls’ that noticed a ‘real man’ riding a big expensive motorcycle. Little girls wanna catch a man. They go out to a Harley Davidson dealers to buy some motorcycle. The Sportster is the best looking bike. A attractive bike, built to catch a man. Mine was purple but after polishing it, it turned blue. Problem was that no girls wanted to catch guys that ride bikes. People started to notice that actually the Sportster is one the better motorcycle. The Sportster became the most desirable motorcycle in the world.
