Right from the beginning…. The filter… please tell me you don’t have to buy that plastic cartridge every time you need new filter. I hope not- that wouldn’t be too sustainable due to plastic waste. But I’m gonna finish the video…

Thank you very much. Great suggestions. They are everywhere and appear to want to get outside (freezing temps and lots of snow, so nothing is open) as I find them in the tracks of windows and my sliding glass doors.

I mean this as genuine constructive criticism but perhaps you should read a few manuals, watch master class overviews, or listen to podcasts prior to giving advice. Several points made are unfortunately just wrong or misleading to someone who has no experience with bonsai. Fine advice for keeping indoor plants, but not for learning the art of bonsai.

Rachel, thank you for the insightful video! I wanted to share a perspective based on my experience. Coming from Canada, I’ve grown accustomed to a system where waste is thoughtfully divided into three categories: trash, recycling, and food waste. In my province, food waste is collected, converted into compost, and generously made available for free each spring for anyone who needs it. It’s a wonderful example of a circular system that benefits both the environment and the community. Now that I’ve moved to Florida, I’ve noticed a stark difference. Here, food waste is simply lumped together with trash, and while recycling is available, the absence of composting feels like a missed opportunity. As someone with this background, it’s hard not to feel that something is amiss-valuable compost is being lost, and the environmental impact is undeniable. That said, I believe the success of electric composting bins hinges on more than just the environmental argument. For the average consumer, the upfront cost, ongoing maintenance, and electricity usage may be hard to justify without a clear and compelling benefit. If the end product of these composting bins doesn’t provide tangible value to the owner, it’s unlikely that this concept will gain widespread adoption.

I already own the Lyko clean composter and it is doing a fantastic job for me. It cost less than the lomi.

I will never buy Lomi they only work short time don’t stand by product I have problem at. First about noise they said that normal, but after years and half stop working I call and nobody’s work only through emails to after year I send all information . Finally my Lomi out of warranty no problem solved need to replace the unit or new Lomi 2 at half price for this reason I will not buy Lomi so expensive and support form company can’t call to employees I’m very disappointed

I have attempted to propogate many of my pothos plants but many of them are turning yellow and the water turns quite scummy after a short time. I propagated spider plants in water as well and that water has turned all foamy and frothy. Any suggestions as to what might be the issue?

There are several reasons one might want to use one of these, but if reducing your carbon footprint is one of them, think again. Unless you live in one of the areas of the country that has plentiful hydroelectric, natural gas, nuclear, or some other form of "green power," this unit will likely increase your carbon footprint substantially. Burning coal requires about 1 pound of coal (carbon) to make 1 kilowatt of power. Based on this video, that means the Lomi will use about 1.5 to 18 pounds of burned carbon to produce a single, tiny pile of "compost." That just doesn't add up for reducing a carbon footprint.

What about when you take them out of this container and put in new? Are you not scared that the roots will make it too full to remove from the small opening of the bottle and they will rip off? Also, if you did do a rooting hormone with this, I assume a liquid rooting hormone is best over the powder, since they are straight into the water?

Great review. Minnesota gave residents up to $1,500 to but an ebike depending on income and cost. States could do that with something like this. I live in the woods though so I just have a compost outside. Or I just throw the lettuce off the patio 🤣

Since you can't add bones and fats, are you still maintaining a second bin for those sort of scraps, or are you just adding them to your trash? Just curious since it claims to eliminate food odors, but if I still need the one I've got...

hmmm… I have a question. I live on 3 acres of mostly forestry. I also have a lomi which jams often. It composts to soil and I dump into my garden. Will this dehydrated food draw animals and insects as a food source. Bears are prevalent here and they are destructive. I don’t want to tempt them.
@tenneyplants
@tenneyplants 2 ай бұрын
The food grounds it creates is exactly what the lomi is creating, so if you haven’t had problems with putting lomi grounds in the garden so far, you should be good! 👍 I make sure to spread my grounds thoroughly and I haven’t had problems attracting pests or animals so far. I have a lomi and the mill has definitely blown me away with how it doesn’t jam up like my lomi would. I hope this helps!

Just set our Mill up today, but had a few questions. This video is OUTSTANDING!! Answered all our questions, and I agree with everything Rachel says. Food waste should be a felony. The only remaining question is how long will it last. The longer it lasts, the less it ends up costing and the more energy savings you'll realize. I'm hoping it lasts longer than I will. Thanks Rachel!!
