Maybe you should look into this tillage system: www.youtube.com/@DammkulturnachJulianTuriel It's rather more advanced.

This is the best information I have seen for learning about the soldier bug and telling it from other stink bugs! Thank you. What other predator stink bugs are in Southern Illinois?

😊some seeds vary in sizes and it helps sometimes to use the right screen to split the seed into two lots. The reason being is that the wind effects large healthy seeds less than small healthy seeds so you can use more wind on the bigger seeds. My rule generally however is to set air and screens up so you can chuck out as much as possible, this usualy means loose a little bit, this agrees with you people

Lots of good info there. I'm going to try just using the weed eater around the plants this year instead of covering the rows. Maybe a little pine bark around the crown,. I figure, if you're going to do a do weed eater around the weed mat, you might as well just weed eat around the bushes and not bother with the mat.

Can an infected seed spread to other seeds in a seed packet? Do I throw away all my other seeds from the packet the infected seed was grown from?

So what’s the control here system one has radish only then system 2/3 have different crops with the radishes as well as different implement systems and soil prep. You were trying to figure out what the radishes did to the soil but yet the radish isn’t the control like you would hope from a study like this. Actually watching it all the way through there is no control that is listed in any of the material here. You are sitting there complaining about funding when you waisted 3 years of funding on a project that had no control to exam for a reasonable and evidence driven outcome.

Hello! This research required manipulation of two independent variables (cover crop and system treatments) and so was set up as a 3x3 factorial design so each of the cover crop combinations was tested against each system treatment. This was so the main effects of each of the individual treatments as well as interactions between the cover crop and system treatments could be determined. It is unlike a simpler "two group" design that has a designated control group. Factorial designs are quite common, especially for agronomic studies. The funding comment was to shed light on the fact that the planting date had to be delayed because other projects that had funding at the time took priority, and thus unfortunately affected the first year's results. Again, something that all researchers have learned to tolerate/manage. It's part of the job. I hope this helps you to understand this study and experimental design a bit better!

@@emilyevans1751 thank you for the enlightenment. I still would of tried to do multiple studies at once with more of a control to get more concrete results. Especially with the smaller study area but I understand that’s not the only study going on atm. Happy new year to you

Would the results be the same on if your package bees were from a treatment free beekeeper? Of course a commercial package of bees cannot survive without treatments.

Thank you for this topic and discussion. I’m currently transitioning a farm from tillage to no-till. It’s overrun with thistle and bindweed. With a low budget my only defense has been to utilize cardboard and free wood chips to stop and/or reduce growth of both of these invasive plants. I’ve been planting into compost on top of the cardboard. Obviously once the cardboard breaks down enough the roots of the crops I’ve planted are able to puncture and grow larger but that is also the point where the bindweed finds sunlight and once again becomes a nuisance. The thistle seems to be controlled as long as I have dug it out or cut it off just below the surface prior to laying the cardboard, for now. Despite the entire three acres being covered with thistle and bindweed, I’ve noticed where I’ve been working, the continuation of these two invasive species seems to have been reduced by at least 90%.

As a retired wheat farmer, I have to say thank you for calling a kernel of grain a "kernel". Trying to combine "berries" wouldn't work too well. I'm not sure who started the berry thing, but I am pretty sure whoever it was has never shoveled out a grain bin on a nice hot day.

You should knock them down to kill them, not mow. On a large enough scale you plant through the downed plants.
