@@moneyshifters I've got the opportunity to get a 2001 facelift with 115k kms (Manual) and cheap too. Full BMW service history and 1 owner. Anything to look out for with the 318? Love the videos to guys, keep it up!!

@@Overture That's an n42 motors. I recommend you do some reading on it before purchasing it. They aren't too bad really, but have some issues that need some work if you're up for it. It's lower ks so you have some time. They are a bit more underpowered than the 6 cylinders. take it for a test drive and see how you think. they're still a blast to drive. If you idle it for a while then accelerate, it will make a plume of smoke (burns oil) if the valve stem seals are bad or on their way out. thank you for the kind words. more videos coming

They have the exact same driveline and suspension set up. The coupes and sedans are about the same in reliability.

A torque wrench on the plastic oil filter housing wouldn't be a bad idea.

We’ve never had any issue using the large crescent wrench and tightening until it’s bottomed out

It’s not the motor oil itself that’s bad. You can actually buy petroleum jelly and mineral oil from any pharmacy and it’s nontoxic. The problem is all the additives (corrosion inhibitors, acid neutralizers, viscosity improvers, etc.) that make motor oil inedible.

@@moneyshifters Back in the 1950’s, Chrysler performed a demonstration showing a woman cooking with motor oil they had developed to show how pure it was. Mind you, it was 100% pure petroleum mineral oil with zero additives (as motor oil wasn’t multi-viscosity and didn’t use additives back then). It was the same kind of stuff as the mineral oil you can buy in pharmacies.

@@cyclemoto8744 hmm that figures. Brisbane used to export vast amounts of bmw motors and other driveline components overseas so lots of cars got wrecked. I think the bmw community is the same with less cars, so the prices go up. Just a theory. We sold the Melbourne car in the video for a fair bit more than we bought it. Covered the fuel then some.

I think Jordan didn’t know what he was doing lol. Once battery terminals were cleaned up and it had momentum we could push start it, but clutch didn’t feel too great so we didn’t want to rush push starting it home.

I reckon there was a flat spot on the flywheel where it was grabbed by the starter gear and spinning the engine and flywheel over meant there was a good spot for the starter to hit

Good theory. Have since sold the car for a profit. I think a new starter did fix it but we don’t know.
