Don’t feel too upset - the fitting to hose connection can sometimes fail and not the oring itself but that can take almost 10 years sometimes more. Next time you have an issue it’s 22x3.5 I believe

Not sure you’re meant to put grease on rubber O-rings. Can absorb and expand them? Silicon spray maybe.

There's a special type of grease that you should use. I forget the specification but it doesn't have any effect on the plastics and rubbers. But yes probably should have mentioned that. We certainly are not using the same grease we use on joints or bearings.
