I have a name for the M1A2 SEPv3 tank. How about we call it the Abrams tank, just like the American's and everybody else in the world?

Has anyone ever thought of building pure missile boats, manned by minimal crew, no avaiation, no gun, nothing but something like 126 vls cells and it just follows our air warfare destroyers around. The Air warfare destroyers link to the missile boats and AEGIS manages the firing. Cheap to build, cheap to operate and quadruple our fire power

SAF must really into Drone as they were used successfully by the Ukraine against Russians forces, Drone and AL robotic fighting machine are the next battle ground stuff minimizing human death.

Geographically and politically, Australias military is effectively New Zealands military. No one that would attack NZ is someone Australia could ignore attacking its closest neighbour. So, for any nation contemplating attacking NZ, their greatest threat would be Australia. Regardless of wha Australia said publicly, they would have to take out Australias military capacity first, and if NZ doesn't have a defence pact with the US, Australia does. So, to attack NZ, you have to attack Australia first, and that likely involves rhe US, and then the NZ military becomes largely redundant. So, while as an Australian, its annoying that NZ is basically having a free lunch at our extent, the reality is, NZ is not safe now due to its military, and spending more on its military doesnt make it safer. Maritime patrol, and projecting into the Pacific is what its military gives it, so its a question about what its prepared to pay for this.

Each soldier on $45k a yr 45,000 troops under lieutenant general one lieutenant general army to maintain the cost of the man hours is about $2,025,000,000 per lieutenant general unit a yr with a defence budget of over $50 billion. Only 20% of people enlisting getting accepted I see them as ideal military based project workers that'd substantiate everything an confirm everything correctly. I think 3 lieutenant general are needed, one based on there are 225 seats one per captain under lieutenant general with munitions firing orders rights , Then one lieutenant general for 20% of the nation like 5 captain per seat. Then one lieutenant general for 4% of the nation capability that's another 25 captain per seat that's 1/25th of the country to understand the equivalent of 62% GDP spent in that 1/25th jurisdiction

The rate of tank losses in Ukraine tells me that Australia should keep its older Abrams. The US Army has hundreds of M-1s in storage that could be sent.

These Australian M1A2SEPv3 tanks are new as they replace an older model, and they are new as the turrets are new build. Additionally, they are unique as they are as capable of the U.S. M1A2SEPv3 tanks, with the exception of depleted uranium armour.

Japanese Defence officials are offering an upgraded and larger version of Japan's Mogami 30 FFM to satisfy Australia’s General Purpose Frigate program, according to an ABC report of 17 December. This is the version I discuss in this briefing.
@notavailable570
@notavailable570 15 күн бұрын
The whole premise for tier 2 is to obtain effective vessels that can be introduced into service quickly. Although "Upgraded Mogami" appears attractive and Japan is a rapidly developing strategic partner, it is also the riskier option. MHI has never exported a warship to an external country before nor setup offshore partner manufacturing. They even sought assistance from BAE Systems Australia to respond to the RFP. In comparison, TKMS is a familiar operator in country with close relationships with the RAN, established supply chains and engineering support services. They are the ones with runs on the board re offshore builds and that is with the A200 design itself. IMO there is a clear choice here. We were in a similar position with the Hunter Class where we should have chosen Navantia for an evolved Hobart leveraging all that was already established. Instead we pivoted to BAE which has resulted in the most expensive frigates in the world at $9B each with no deliveries planned for 10 years.
@Strategy_Analysis
@Strategy_Analysis 15 күн бұрын
Thanks for the comment. As I say in the briefing, both options have their Pros and Cons. As you say, the main driver for this process is to get capable frigates in service ASAP.

17 Bridge Layers is a bit over the top don't ya think? After all, when attacked, we'll probably only have to cross the Katherine and Adelaide Rivers 🤣 Oh wait, unless we have to move along the Hughenden to Cloncurry highway, then we need a thousand of them. (and that's in the dry).

agree with you on the limitations the war in Ukraine has shown that tech has moved on quickly perhaps ordering more boxers and developing pods to use the Stingers would be a good idea could even do so with mortars and maybe even get some export money from selling those pods wouldn't hurt to go back to the original redback order with 3 brigades they all need to be fitted equally I would also think about fitting the old M113's with slingers and mortars for the other 2 brigades if they think it would save money

I believe we use our own armour thats different to the US armour and perhaps, better. The 49 M1A1 tanks going to Ukraine were leased by us from the US and as such we were returning them I'm told. But now they are going to Ukraine under our name...not sure. Looking at the Ukraine conflict it would seem we would be vulnerable to drones etc as we don't have the ability to deal with them. The funnel web would be a big juicy target.

I could never understand why the Anzacs were never in a continuous build. When first commissioned, they were acceptable, just. Over the years they have been built up to an acceptable standard, but still lacking. These ships should have been used as a starting point to create the next class. Additional VLS tubes, larger engines to provide more electrical energy, better point defence systems, etc. Why does Australia continually reinvent the wheel? We know how to build Anzacs, or we did. With a continuous build phase, these skills would not be lost, and we could keep our fleet in a much better state of readiness.
