Hello Julieanne, I was watching you pack yarn, trying to see mine ‘Moët’ looking forward to seeing it in person. By the way you are looking well. Cheers

Aww, thank you! Yes! I packed your order but I don't think I filmed it. I think yours was after the one in the video. 😊 Moët is my favourite from the advent I think so good choice, and thank you for supporting my little business. 🥰

Aww, thank you xx And you're not the only one it seems who has advent envy! I'm thinking I might need to dye a few more sets, or maybe just the greatest hits. Although I probably won't be able to include a bag; not sure if I can get more fabric. My MIL wants a bag and I had to tell her I probably can't get the fabric! 😅

So nice to find an Aussie. Watching from Victoria. I prefer crochet, amongst many other fibre and fabric crafts I dabble in. Have you seen Marion's World Fusion Quilting? It might be another idea to help work down both stashes.

I am many months late to this video, but I made myself a sock weight hexicardigan, and love it. I’m quite a large person and didn’t want a bulky cardigan. It worked up in a couple of weeks with we working full time and still has a decent drape. I know you are heading into summer but it’s an idea for stash busting that I personally enjoyed.

For the socks made on the knitting machine, to continue following the two needle rule, could you do a 2x2 rib but add one knit stitch before and one purl stitch after? The row would read k3, p2, k2, ....p2, k2, p3. That would keep the needle rule and also give one extra stitch either side for the seam and keep the pattern once stitched together. Just a thought!
@LovebirdLaneMakes7 ай бұрын
Ooo yes, that could work! And it would be easy enough to decrease those stitches to get back to my desired stitch count. Fab! Thanks! 😃

Lovely to see all your projects. Your knitting machine projects are really interesting. I remembered a knitting machine surge in the 80s. There would always be demos at our county fairs. You inspired me to start up a spreadsheet for mine, now that I am back into my sock knitting. I ended up having 8 pairs of socks on the needles. I thought I had at least 5. 😳 Time to get cracking so I can start more. LOL
@LovebirdLaneMakes7 ай бұрын
Hahaha! 8 sock WIPs??? Wow! Do you do patterned socks usually or just vanilla? I would have loved to have seen the knitting machines in action at a fair! I know I could join a group and get the similar result, but I'm so anxious, introverted and socially awkward that I'm too afraid to. 😅 So muddling along on my own it is. 😅
@TheRosewin7 ай бұрын
@@LovebirdLaneMakes It's 10 now. 😆 Although this seems to be working for me. I use them like fidget toys and am always working on one while watching videos. Having so many keeps me from getting board. I have actually finished a couple too. I have just completed my first patterned sock and do want to try more. Groups are hard, especially when you are on your own. I was lucky enough to join my local spinning guild, along with my sister. I ended up going on my own quite a lot and enjoyed the environment, until I had to stop going, due to work. It can be quite draining though, when you are naturally not a social person. It would take me a day afterwards to decompress and settle back into myself. It was worth it though for the mutual love of the craft and the pool of experiences.

In a fascinating bit of serendipity, I picked up an Empisal Vistamatic NG-H3 about the same time you did and am excited to follow your progress here! I have no idea how one with that branding made its way to the U.S., but I'm quite happy to have it! I also got it in a bundle along with a Toyota punchcard machine, but have decided to figure out the simpler machine before I go wild with the patterns. What size sponge bar did you end up getting for yours?
@LovebirdLaneMakes9 ай бұрын
Oh my gosh! That's so cool! That's really interesting that yours is badged as Empisal; I thought it was a UK/Australia thing! The Vistamatic is a fun machine, I think it's my favourite of all the machines I've used so far. 💕 I too got it in a bundle with an Empisal punchcard machine with a ribber (I've done a video on that if you haven't seen it, it's only a couple back) along with my Vistamatic and I've had less success with that one. I don't think my punchcard reader works unfortunately, and my husband has had to take the carriage apart and fix some stuff already. And now I have the double bed Passap (I have short making a sock on that), I might move the punchcard with ribber one on. As for sponge bars, the Vistamatic doesn't need one! Yay! Basically, the needle retaining bar is all that's required. Hopefully yours is present. All the best with your journey! Have fun!

They’re a lot of fun! They’re definitely a bit of a learning curve but learning is fun. 😊 I’ve found that knowing the basics of hand knitting helps with certain aspects of machine knitting but it’s definitely a different beast.

I think it would be a good idea to sort out any of this yarn that you do not feel drawn to and just get rid of it, don't even try to find ideas or projects and start spending time and effort on something you ultimately won't enjoy. I'm sure there is enough yarn left after sorting to practice on the knitting machines with, some of it you did seem to like after all! Loving this series, it's great company as I work through my won stash, keep it up! :)

Thank you so much! Yes, I think you’re right about giving it away. I have already gifted a lot of it to my buy nothing group. Now I just have the stuff I want to use and the super fine, thread stuff. I was thinking I’d get in touch with a local guild to offload the fine stuff. 😊

I had no idea that machine knitting yarn was treated with wax to make it smoother to work! Maybe the bright colours you don't like so much could be sold together as a lot for someone who likes making children's sweaters.
@LovebirdLaneMakes9 ай бұрын
Yes! It helps to prevent the fluffiness of the yarn causing issues. That being said, I don’t wax any of the yarns I’ve used that were my own stash. And I’ve not had many problems so far. Perhaps if I try knitting mohair??! 😂

Night and day. Now that I have the skills down, I could easily knit a pair in less than 2 hours on the machine. Provided there's no mistakes or dropped stitches to deal with. 😅 Personally I could probably hand knit a plain stocinette sock in a day or two, but I'm not typical; I have a lot of time to knit. But yes, a night and day difference.🙂

In my experience crochet does take more yarn and the movement is very different so it's a welcomed break from knitting for me, also I switch the position of the hook (usually hold it like a toothbrush then change it to holding it like a pencil)... Ps I know you have the summer time and I am jealous 😅😅😅
