Hi, enjoying your podcast, loving your Elvis too! Crochet does use more yarn for sure, but, it grows quicker as well. I’m stash busting this year too, like most people seem to be doing. Let’s hope there is a serious dent in the stash by years end! Enjoy 😊

crochet definitely uses more yarn, and i think tunisian crochet uses even more! I started making a tunisian crochet blanket with one of my advents, and each colour is only getting me a few cm of my blanket, so I think I'll need probably 2 advents worth of yarn to finish it. for garments I have a few of holly woodward's designs on my ravelry favourites list, specifically her gertie and jilly cardigans.

Loved the video! In my experience crochet does take more yarn and the movement is very different so it's a welcomed break from knitting for me, also I switch the position of the hook (usually hold it like a toothbrush then change it to holding it like a pencil)... Ps I know you have the summer time and I am jealous 😅😅😅

Hello Julieanne first time watching you I’m enjoying watching. Also I feel like crochet does take up more yarn

That was a fun video Julieanne, I always think I can get more done in a day too! The socks turned out great! I don’t crochet enough to really know, but I made a couple pot holders in January and feel like I got them done quicker than I could have knit them and I used most of two 50g balls, so maybe it’s more about the speed of using yarn in crochet projects 🤷🏻♀️

Ooo that's an interesting perspective! Either way, if it gets through the stash, then I'm here for it! I'm really looking forward to trying out more crochet patterns this year. 😊

I am many months late to this video, but I made myself a sock weight hexicardigan, and love it. I’m quite a large person and didn’t want a bulky cardigan. It worked up in a couple of weeks with we working full time and still has a decent drape. I know you are heading into summer but it’s an idea for stash busting that I personally enjoyed.

Awesome, thanks for the suggestion! Do you have an IG or Rav where I can see it? :)

Yes, crochet uses way more yarn than a knitted item. Crochet is faster, though (once you've been doing it for a bit). I think crochet is great for blankets, but I prefer knitted clothing because they are less bulky.

Hello Julieanne, great to see you. Love your shawl n socks. Yes crochet does take nearly twice as much yarn compared to knitting, a lot more loops too create the stitch. I have just received the 52 weeks of socks and have joined the Facebook group. Starting my first sock today. 🧦🧶

Wow! Are you actually trying for 52 pairs of socks? That's a major feat! Thanks for letting me know about the crochet! 🤎

Hello hello. I just came across your channel today- you’re a sweetheart! Loved your challenge. How do you decide how you’re going to hold your yarn to knit? I also knit continental and English, but it’s mainly for colorwork. Curious to know how you decide! Cheers.

I prefer crochet but i always knit socks, so i don't know if crochet would factually eat up more yarn, but in theory it makes sense to me that it would. since visually i feel a regular knit stitch would represent the same amount of yarn on the hook when you've only just pulled through the yarn for a single crochet (
