Hilarious intro! Thank you for that! I agree. The vampire made me think of the TV show Buffy. I like the spider. It longs legs makes it super creepy. But can we talk about the pictures from Lowes Halloween. What is that? The quality is horrible. lol. I love your idea of using the DJ for your parties. It's fun.

@ScareDad Күн бұрын
Ha, Thanks! The spider looks cool, but now people are saying it is only three feet high, which is not nearly as impressive. Since the Lowes pictures are early leaks, they aren't meant to be seen by us. In fact, I bet some of the props will be changed before the final reveal, just as the 12 foot Bone Collector was improved from the leaked pictures last year. That's what I am hoping for anyway. Still think its a bit early for these to come out, I am not quite ready for it yet. As always, thanks for watching!

Lol, when the prop is more then 10ft then the prop is high and not "Lowes". And so must the prices be 😂. Sounds like a Lowes approach indeed😅. Love you keep hammering on DiY! That is where the magic is ❤

Hahaha, I see what you did there. I wish that wasn't their approach, if Lowes could lower their prices maybe they could actually compete. I do want to focus more on making my own props this year, and then actually using the props I make (I have an issue doing that for some reason.) Hoping we get an awesome Halloween video from you again this year my friend.

The Distortions Mummy is epic! Love the detail. And Lowes lineup so far has surprised me… not only because it’s only January, but because there are actually a couple of props I like! The clown in particular looks great!!! Joking! The 12ft vampire could be interesting though. Great video bud 🎃

I am hoping to be impressed when we see more of the Lowes lineup, so far it has potential. If they could get their prices down to match Home Depot, then I think they could actually complete. If they keep the super high prices then Home Depot and Spirit will still dominate. Thanks for watching!

Lowe's DJ does seem fun! I agree, it would be cool for a Halloween party. I hope the animation is more interesting than the other band members - the animation is really lame for the price, and you need a bunch of them for it to be impactful....
@ScareDad
@ScareDad 11 күн бұрын
Unfortunately, I expect similar animation as the band, maybe the head bopping up and down to the beat and the hand spinning on the turntable. That would be enough for me though. The band animation could definitely have been better and I agree that it takes a few of them together to make it look good. The lights on the DJ booth make this piece already a bit more impressive to look at, so hopefully I'll like it when I see it in person. Thanks for watching!

LMAO!!! The ending!!!!!!! That was great! I really really want to figure out how to hack mine in order to get other non-xmas stuff on there and in sync with the mouth. The other movements can stay the same. That can't be tooooooo difficult for someone in the know! (not me, but I have to believe I could figure it out) Not that I will ever get around to it, but i like to think I will! I'm leaving mine out year round sitting on top of my 3D printer enclosure. I saw on the Home Depot sub-Reddit that many employees stationed near this guy were going out of there mind BANANAS! I can only imagine!

I.had to return mine twice because both eyes were peeling pretty badly with no easy way to access that area. Also, the step pad never worked on either (brand new pads) and the sensor went berserk making him sing 24/7. He had so much potential but completely gave up after those two encounters.
@ScareDad
@ScareDad 16 күн бұрын
So after reading your comment I looked and saw other people had issues with the eyes peeling as well. I guess I got super lucky with mine. I did not try the step pad yet, but the motion sensor is working okay on mine. Too bad you had so many issues with it. Overall, I think Home Depot had more issues with quality control this year than in years past. Hopefully something they fix for next year. Thank you for watching and I hope you have a wonderful new year!
@stevetb7777
@stevetb7777 14 күн бұрын
@@ScareDad You did get lucky! Mine has the peeling eyes problem as well. So many people also reported the main motor burning out after very little use. The manufacturer (SVI) has very good customer support these days. They do not have minion parts as far as I can see yet, but I'm sure they will. I'm sure they will be able to send me replacement part/s. This year was bonkers with QC issues for my Home Depot props - Lethal Lily mouth didn't move. Frankenstein arms mech broken out of the box, Plague Doctor staff didn't light up, Marionette Witch mouth didn't move, Captain Cuts eyes stopped moving, Deadwood head top was loose (on the bottom/fell), and the Minion eye problem... haven't built Vader yet, hopefully he's ok! My Santa I got last year - lower torso frame motor wasn't working, they did replace that part... but next year I know I will be out of luck! You know the sad part about this hobby? After a couple of years they no longer stock parts. Every single one of these things is going to eventually BREAK! Horrible investment! But I will still buy them... I'm just gonna have to learn how to repair them and substitute parts!

I think the minions speaking Zambia 🇿🇲
@ScareDad
@ScareDad 16 күн бұрын
So I had to look it up and this is what the AI answer gave me (not sure if it is 100% correct.) "The minions speak a fictional language called "Minionese," sometimes referred to as the "Banana language," which is a mix of various real languages like English, Spanish, French, and Hindi, creating a nonsensical gibberish sound." Funny that I randomly called him Banana man in the intro, and they call it "Banana Language". So Zambian could definitely be a part of the multi- language mix. All you have to do is heat up the plastic enough so you can move it to the correct shape. You may have to do it a couple of times to get the shape to stay exactly as you want it, but it wasn't too difficult. I think it took me between 5-10 minutes, not too bad. I still can't believe they didn't box it better to prevent it from getting deformed. Hope it works out for you.

I'm droppin' comments as I watch, lol. Buddy the Elf, who is buying that thing?! That's the scariest prop of the year, should have dropped it for Halloween. I saw the xmas Minion online and thought "NO WAY, hah, no way... dumb.. don't care". Saw it in action at the store, came home with it! I've learned that my "NO WAY" is often WRONG, LOL. I'm thinking about opening up my backyard to extend my haunt. I have a small property, so it would really help. I'm just concerned about legal liability for someone potentially (but not likely) getting injured. I feel like I would need some kind of umbrella insurance or something to feel comfortable.

I had the same initial reaction to the minion, I wasn't going to buy it. But then I saw it in the store, they only had one left, and the rest was history. Going to put it up for the cub scout Christmas party (though I'll probably make a video on it soon.) I need to call my insurance company to see what would be covered if we invite the public onto our property. That is my biggest concern as well. Opening up your backyard would be a big step, and worthy of a KZbin video ( I am going to keep [pushing until you agree to show it, lol.)

So it is just my 3-car driveway and teency front yard... but it is quite packed! Nobody in my 'hood even came close to how crazy I went, it was a huge hit - around 2,500 people. @@stevetb7777 Wow, 2,500 people is amazing. I love seeing people's displays, and yours sounds great. It doesn't really matter how big your space is, it's how you use it. Of course this year, I ran out of time only got about half our props out. Still have to post the walk up to our house, maybe I'll get that up before Christmas. When it takes days to put it all away, ya... maybe... maybe in the future I will have to sell some stuff to justify new stuff. Maybe in a year or two. But ya, I'm actually hoping 2025 has just 3-4 MUST HAVE animatronics / large props and not more than that! Problem is, there seem to be more and more entering the space. And I keep adding MORE. I'm pretty sure it is because I'm a big kid. I couldn't even have dreamed of owning this stuff as a kid. So many kids aren't even impressed by it. @@ScareDad Lol, I asked chatGPT what your haunt being "a bit prep" might mean: "If a child described your Halloween display as "a bit prep," they might mean that it feels polished, put-together, or more orderly and clean than they expect for a spooky Halloween aesthetic. "Prep" can sometimes be shorthand for "preppy," a style associated with neatness, tidiness, and a classic or traditional appearance, which might contrast with the chaotic, creepy, or eerie vibe often associated with Halloween. Depending on the tone, they might either be complimenting your display's refined look or hinting that it could feel less spooky and more polished than they expected for Halloween."

I think social media has had a huge impact on Halloween, Transworld used to be a show that was only open to insiders like Haunt owners, execs from theme parks and the like, now its a public event, the stores have capatalized on the Halloween revenue so all of them wanted an early start to avoid compitition, there were so many things that were pumped through social media that there was alot of artificial traffic because everyone had Fomo. I have never seen so many facebook market place adds for people selling their entire display, because they are not freaks like us. It has been a very long season. As Haunters we should be a protected class that gets reasonable work accomidations in October
@ScareDad

You are definitely right about the impact of social media. Unfortunately, for Halloween lovers like us, I think all the stores competing is going to kill the Halloween market within a couple of years. If it is a bit too much for us, imagine how "normal" people feel. We should get work accommodations, get that petition going so we can all sign it! I was very happy to see that video pops in my feeds! I had a really fun Halloween, too! Both your display were amazing, by the way. I'm sad for your ship. That's a shame. Like Dan, in Quebec we have Halloween stuff in stores pretty late. Like in September... I wish we have things a bit sooner (but not too soon either). In Quebec, we don't really celebrate Thanksgiving either. Our Thanksgiving is before Halloween (the 13th of October). And there's nothing crazy about it. I love watching the Macy's parade, though! But in Canada, we are already in Christmas basically.

Thanks! Even though the mast came down, the fact that it didn't destroy the rest of the ship was its own miracle. I think the US is getting Halloween stuff a little bit too early, April in store Halloween shopping is nuts. Now that our Thanksgiving is over we are catching up to the rest of the world. Just put up our Christmas tree last night. Looking forward to watching Part 3 of your Misery house. I took a total break from KZbin for a bit, so now I am catching up on my favorite channels. Wanted to save this one for when I can sit down with dinner and enjoy it. Keep up the great work and as always, thanks for watching!

@@ScareDad Thanks! It's ok. I totally get that. I also have some period where I need to take a break from youtube. Also this episode is not the most exciting, it's just about floors. :). But thank you!

Are the sprites already turned sideways or did you have to change a setting on your TV to do that? Also, are you able to use the remote or did you have to use buttons on the back of the TV?
@ScareDad
@ScareDad Ай бұрын
When you upload the video it should be in a vertical format. The files I used from AtmosFX come in horizontal and vertical format so it was easy, but any video could be turned on its side in a basic video editor. You can use the remote for this if you have it. I did not have a remote, so I had to use the buttons on the tv to turn it on. It was a free TV, so I couldn't complain about the remote. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!

Haha, I'm glad you enjoyed my parrot impression. The ship is mostly down now, just a bit of the frame remains. Everything comes down so much quicker than it goes up. It has felt good sleeping this past week as I get caught up on rest. Almost done with out next video, I'll try to get it too you this weekend.

I bought this head but when i tried t put it on my inferno pumpkin skeleton it inly seems to go on at a 90 degree angle and cant face forward. I cant change the mounting brackets on either the body or the head because the body has 3 notices and the head 2.

I have seen some people 3-D print parts for these, I wonder if someone could print you a piece that would work. Unfortunately I don't have the Inferno Pumpkin Skeleton, so I can't look at it to try and help you with this. I hope you can find a solution for it.

Any idea what it takes to run these eyes on their own? Voltage input, amps, watts?
@ScareDad

I was able to run mine with a 6V 2Amp power supply and a female to female connector. Tried upping the amps to 5 (just because I had that power supply too) but it made no difference. Hope that helps.

It was great to meet you both the other night. After trick or treating, our family got to walk through the haunt near the library that you mentioned to me. It was great, and the family who set it up was super nice. I sat my wife and son near the video screen. She suspected what was coming, but they scared my son pretty good. Thanks for the suggestion and thanks for watching!

Great idea there, Scaredad! Although this build kinda begs the question, what else can you display on it, hmm?😏🤪

I bet you could come up with a whole bunch of creepy things to display on this. Filming your own videos could be the best way to go, then you could literally do anything. Thanks for watching!

Thanks! It does get pricey building something this size, but the trick is to buy a little at a time so you never really know how much you spent, lol. (Disclaimer, that is a terrible idea and in no way constitutes financial advice.) Thanks so much for watching!
