this reminds me of 'this is why we're pro scouts and you're not', technical mumbo jumbo, vs. a computer was given all the top scorers in Junior, and spat out every famous NHL all star. Demidov is taking perfect to a new level, Silayev is reaching new heights of coordination for a 6'7 teenager playing as a KHL regular, Luvchenov 6'3 RHD is breaking Werenski, Hughes records while learning a new language. These players are building a new ceiling, then there's Catten matching Crosby Bedard Kane numbers, Buium has also shattered those Werenski Hughes numbers, Helenius is only behind Barkov in Finnish mens league all-time well ahead of Rantanen, also Dickinson 6'3 LHD floor is making the NHL first. That 7 players (add Celebrini) that you don't have to 'project' their ceiling, when their floor is record-setting. Yakemchuk 6'3 RHD is also probably easy to develop. You can have Iginla round out the top 10.

Would be helpful if you put the prospect's name as a lower third during a segment. If Grant/Rocco don't repeat the name... listeners (who are multi-tasking) can get lost with who is being talked about when segments go on for a decent amount of time.

Props to Grant for spotting & praising Solberg EARLY ON !!! But Grant, re-listen to how you described him… Forget where you ranked him. Just focus on how you DESCRIBED him. Given what you said (with the kid’s play BACKING your words), I think your description deserves an BETTER rank than Top-20. To me, what you said & what the kid showed… It’s Top-10 all day. He reminds me of a mix between Miro Heiskanen & Simon Nemec. PLUS : I think he’s more physical than BOTH of them

Im thinking Hawks take Demitov. 18 gets them a better defenseman. Would not complain if Hawks went off board at 2 and took Iginla. I think hes a sure thing with no drama. Hate a Levshunov pick. His being right handed is making him desirerable. Last year they tried hard to move from 20 for Moore. They got him anyway.
@spooley8 күн бұрын
Still don't get the Chicago angle. There are always teams making picks out of left field and nearing the end of rd 1 the commentary becomes "how are Smith and Jones still available?" Odds are your pick will be there, esp if its some lesser rated prospect no one has scouted heavily.
@mattatr0n6778 күн бұрын
Weird to knock levshunov for the same things parekh does (abandoning his post) or dickinson (questionable decision making). It's why everything after 1 is so up in the air: everyone has flaws that can result in busting out. I for one think levshunovs extremely high work ethic would lead him to at least he a ristolainen type of pro
@alexbarrette97628 күн бұрын
Parekh has way more offensive upside. His IQ is gamebreaking. He has defensive lapse mainly because he gets stripped of the puck due to being to lanky . When this kid add up a few pounds of muscle he’s going to be a problem.

Alfons Freij Notes : -Connelly & Eiserman on a “No Draft” list for me -Levshunov I think is a future Phillip Broberg type of bust / disappointment -Silayev & Helenius are future disappointments for the teams that will be picking them imo. NOT because they will be bad players, but because I don’t see them becoming worthy of the high high picks they will be taken at. In other words, I don’t see them over-achieving vis-a-vis their selection rank, I actually see them UNDER-achieving their draft selection rank
@roccozappia12847 күн бұрын
We have the same Top 5, although in slightly different order. This class is wide open, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. At quick glance I think you have Yakemchuk and Dickinson a bit low, and Mews as your most "too high". I have time for Levshunov and Silayev as prospects, they're both going to play in the league, I just think you're leaving a lot of upside on the board with them in the Top 5. Anywhere outside the Top 5 if you get a sure-thing D with size who will play in the league it's never a "bad" pick. Conservative pick, yes, but bad, no. My thoughts on Eiserman I've been pretty open about, I don't want to sound like I'm always shitting on the kid. He's talented as hell and if he changes his game a bit he could make me look awfully silly for doubting the talent.
@GiovannisKitchen9 күн бұрын
I couldn't agree more with your analysis on Buium and Parekh. If Davidson doesn't feel intimidated into making either a 2nd pick,... then that is the route you go. I just don't know if he has that gumption as a new GM to not go with the picks everyone is touting as a top defenseman. This is why I think he could try 31:20 trading down to the 6-9 position if either is willing to not only swap...but give them a 2nd or even a first in 2026.

I'm not a scout, but I do know that highlights can be used to prove anything. Its Like the "Jay Walking" segment on the Tonight Show. How many interviews with people giving the correct answers were not used because they weren't funny? You might believe that everyone in the country is uninformed if you watch that show. Same with highlights, you can select highlights that prove whatever you want.
@roccozappia12849 күн бұрын
Highlights are much like statistics in that way. They can certainly be used in different ways to try and prove different points. Unfortunately, in a one hour episode we only have so much time to work with, so highlights is what we have to rely on. That said, if you've seen full games (or other highlights) that might combat the points we made, I'm always up for a healthy debate, provided you took the time to watch the full games like we did. All that said, your original point is for sure true, but we do try our best to paint as accurate a picture as we can. Thanks for watching!
@malakaspawt31908 күн бұрын
Man, that was some nightmarish highlights from Levshunov! I hope that his good highlights makes up for it. His skating is super slow. He's not doing it on purpose but he makes it look like he is over-handling the puck when he loses it like that or when he can't recover an easy puck. That makes him look clumsy! Before seeing him play, (going only with his age, size, height and stats), I thought he wouldn't "survive" the top 4, meaning he wouldn't be available for MTL. I was imagining him as a responsible D who could put points on the board. Now, I am not entirely sure. Those highlights sort of convinced me that he isn't worthy to be in the top 5 at all, but you are 100% correct that segments can portray only a fraction of one side of the coin sort of speak. Surely, there's more to his hockey than just that because what I just saw with those highlights makes it hard to believe that kid (Levshunov) is in the top 6 best D's and one of the best of this year's draft and if he is then it makes the whole draft look weak.

@Sgt.Hairclub9 күн бұрын
I agree, but Bedard is built like a fire hydrant and has the work ethic to get better at D. Nazar actually showed in the few games he played, that he's a willing defender. You're right though, Hawks desperately need a power forward with some skill. Demidov was listed at 5'11"? Who knows. You look at the Lightning, they make it happen with Point and Kucherov on the same line. I'm just wishful thinking.😆
