Question...there are place here to buy old doors that are in good condition but need restoring/repainting. They are very reasonable priced because they are not antique shops, but instead, recyling or repurposing centers. Do they have these centers where you are?

There is! But I don’t know any locally that sell a wide range of doors. Just vintage furniture With vintage being cool. I’m not only priced out, but also timed out due to my situation. If I had the time to restore doors I would. The only doors I’m keep to restore are the porch stain glass vestibule. I would also love to make a brand new front door and frame myself. But all of these things will be once me and family finally have a space of our own.

I hope you have better luck getting an electrician in place (and your trash hauled away.) Wanted to mention...you might be surprised at what people are interested in watching. You could have made a short-ish video about what you hauled up from the crawl space, instead of using it as a filler here. That could have taken pressure off of making a build video one week. Fwiw You're doing great! It's looking good!

That will definitely be a video at some point. I know there is more stuff under the kitchen floor. It’s all saved ready. Once kitchen is ripped out and flooring has been repaired. That video will become something. (Months away yet) Also when I got a space to make videos. Would you have guessed that my voice overs are done while my daughter is asleep in the same room? Hence the almost whispering 😂 Appreciate the support Erin. A comment on every video so far I think. It doesn’t go unnoticed so thank you. 🙏

@@FromLeedsToWest looking forward to that video! In my first career I worked as a restoration carpenter (in Canada). That was a few decades ago now, but I still remember how exhausting the work is. Even just the several thousand decisions that need to be made weekly. Ugh! So I'm too old and out of shape to do site work now, but I'm a hell of a cheerleader.

Do all the necessary things to move in and then once you do, you can take care of the other stuff on your timeline. And it's wonderful what some paint can do to improve a room.

If I didn’t have a 2 year old I would be living there already. Get dusty jobs out the way and some floors down and we will be good to go.

Keeping what we can. Glad some of the original features were left behind. It’s not going to be 100% in keeping with the time period. Hopefully we will get the balance of new and old right.

Oh man...I got nicotine poisoning once cleaning a smoky house without gloves. Was soooooo sick. Glad you didn't get sick! It's looking so good! Paint on the walls, yes! And that fireplace is gorgeous!!

Whilst I destest the painting of anything wood...originally a lot of these gorgeous fireplaces would have had a surround made of slate like the hearth, so to paint them black is pretty much in keeping. Nice job

The plaster looks so nice against the old trim. You have enough done now that it's easy to imagine finished rooms. You're doing great!

I just finished working for them after 14 days...(Hoping I'll get a bonus for starters...) Although I have no idea what is the math there as I can't see any invoices, only some little money on my account so far. The app is rubbish, that wasted my time a lot. Sometimes I had random other addresses between 2 parcels for the same name and address. I had to check all addresses and plan my route which took a lot of time too, but saving on petrol as I didn't go back and forth to the same streets how the app led me on my first days. Start time same issue unless I added ETA manually. I got new areas constantly, I had to wait for my parcels sometimes for ages while the manager sorted them out and gave one drop to two people saying they don't want to overwhelm us, but truly they just shared the parcels between all of us. Which is why I ended up with 30-40 parcels, although I could have done double or triple, or more if it's a well known area. They were not even checking addresses, just randomly divided the same drop. With the other guy we went more or less to the same addresses on the same day. It's really sad how many people get trapped by this company. I also see how easily parcels can be stolen at depot. When I couldn't deliver something they haven't scanned it when I gave them back. If it disappears they could easily blame me as last I scanned them. Plus using own vehicle and phones, wearing these out is just really not worth for these peanuts.

Question?? Is the area under the window big enough for a bathtub? Seems like it would be more room with the tub under the window, then have the toilet next to the tub, then a vanity. Just my opinion🙂

I gave it a go too. At the exact same depot as yourself 😂. Spend way too much time queing and loading up. Too many people hanging about talking which makes the que take longer. Then you dont finish til daft oclock so not as flexible as they say. I used a 2.2 diesel car and my DPF light came on within the week. Would have probably had to work every hour for 3 weeks to afford to get it fixed. I left because I said my transport is more important than getting paid peanuts. Also my car was minging inside after all the dusty parcels. Another tip would be to carry wet wipes as your hands will be minging. And your phone doesnt even have time to charge as you keep having to unplug it

With these jobs you have to give it 100%. No messing about being selective with hours and time. I done taxi work and my best day was £504 take. Nearly killed myself and was useless for the next day. The work these days is hopeless. You are basically killing time, your own time.
