@@KrisD007 Okay, thank you. You're ahead of the game then, lol. I had a vitrectomy a couple weeks ago because of a vitreal hemorrhage, due to a torn retina. I do already notice a slight bit more headlight glare at night in that one eye already. I wear sunglasses outside now quite religeously, and eat more anti-oxidant rich foods. I'm trying to delay the cataract surgery for a more convenient time.

Remember that the bubble is like an internal bandage holding the retina in place. The sight is dependent on how badly the retina was damaged. All we can do is re-attach the retina and the retina has to do the rest. Good luck.

Very interesting Vitreous review..! Question: Do you feel taking bromelain (acting as proteolytic enzyme to clear out damaged proteins) on empty stomach several times daily will help clear out floaters in vitreous after PVD..? Background: Super healthy 65 year old male, had what I call rapid PVD 6/15/22 left eye, noticed increased floaters (pepper and squiggly) and flashes. Went to retinal specialist, all good, no retinal issues. Was told my other eye most likely will go through PVD in next 1-2 years. Immediately after PVD I began taking bromelain on empty stomach several times daily, my left eye vision cleared up, very clear now. Always good diet, but past 10 years diet great, eating foods/supplements high in omega-3 EPA/DHA, carotenoids, bioflavonoids, lutein, zeaxanthin, rutin, astaxanthin, etc. Now, 16 months later my right appears to be going through what I call slower PVD process last couple months, full view blurry vision, squiggly floaters, no pepper floaters, no flashes. Do you feel maintaining excellent diet, and once again supplementing with bromelain several times daily on empty stomach will clear out damaged protein floaters and potentially lead to clear vision like what happened in my left eye..? I acknowledge any feedback will not be considered medical advice. I'm interested in your professional opinion only. Thank you, Bruce

0:39 - The video was released two years ago. I'm wondering if attitudes towards residual silicone bubbles have changed by now - I mean, do surgeons commonly perform surgery to remove the silicone floaters, or is it still considered unnecessarily risky? For example, I still have a suspension of small bubbles in my eye - 8 months have already passed, and I really hope to somehow get rid of them.

Hi! After having a full detachment retina and I had surgery as this with the silicone oil treatment and 3 months ago the surgeon told me that it was looking good, yet 4 months later (3 days ago) the surgeon told me that unfortunately the bottom of the retina had detached a bit and it would be best to do surgery again and fix the retina and he’d leave the silicone plug or oil(whatever) in there to hold it permanently and forever. What is your opinion on this. The surgeon had told me originally that if the retina would detach that he’d do the surgery again and wait another 7-8 months and see if the second surgery would hold? Now he’s telling me that I’ve got too much pressure in my eye and that it would be best to just do a permanent surgery type and leave the silicone in there forever?🥵What do you suggest or think. I’m going to the surgery this Tuesday morning at 6 am. The 3rd of Oct, 2023.

Hi, we try not to leave oil inside the eye, it is quite toxic long-term, and is best removed. Usually if the retina redetaches under oil then the retinal scarring is cut away and the oil replaced for a further 3+ months. After this we remove it. We would leave oil inside the eye if the eye pressure is very low (less than 5mmHg) to hold the shape of the eye.
