The orange AMC Gremlin at the 3:48 minute mark reminded me of my old ‘75 Gremlin that I ran Super Gas 9.90 Bracket that I owned back in the early 90s…

The best... wish it was still around. Could you imagine still having that as your daily driver. If only we knew better back then, that car would be worth a lot.

Man I mis Byron1 I think it was 2011, maybe 2010, not sure, the Gremlin flipped it completely over on its top from torque, about 100 feet out. The black 60 Impala was one of my favorites also, and the High and Wild chevy 2 Nova. Does Pastor Randy Hienzworth still Chaplin out there?

The reason more american graffiti wasn't as good because it contradicted the original in their whereabouts John Milner was killed in 1964 and Terry Toads Field was MIA in 1965

Hi from the UK. Thanks for posting this. I admit I'm not really a drag racing fan but these were something to see. Much, much better than todays top fuel monsters. Would I be right in thinking that the cars featured here back in the day, would not have been, for want of a better description, 'professionally' built and sponsored by huge modern day companies with millions of dollars to throw at them? Kind regards, Mark
@tomeightyКүн бұрын
Hi Mark, thanks and I'm glad you liked the video. Yes you are correct most all of these cars would have been built or maintained in there own home garage and raced on the weekends. Lots of pride and passion back in the day, and so cool that events like this are coming back to the drag strips to show it the way it was back in the day. Have a good one! And Merry Christmas! Tom

The car named King Rat I remember in Sacramento, California back in the late 60s-early 70s was Lewis & Pierce’s bright yellow 33 Willys 5 window A/G coupe coupe with the number 007 on it. Chassis by Ron Souza, B&M clutch Flite trans, Cirsco clutch, Torque Thrust wheels, 8 injector stacks on a big block chevy. They lived on one street over from me for a while in Fair Oaks. They raced regularly at Sacramento Raceway.

On her TV show, Suzanne Somers related a funny story about doing this movie. She just knew she was going to make it big and here she was with a bunch of relatively unknown people, George Lucas, Ron Howard, Richard Dreyfuss, Harrison Ford... and she thought to herself 'what a bunch of losers'.

Great, great film. I saw the original version when it first came out, minus the three scenes that were put back in when it was re-edited in 1978.

To me, it's always been about faith. Everyone thinks Wolfman Jack is a god, but Curt finds that he is only a lonely man with a broken refrigerator. He has faith in the blonde in the T-bird, he sees her and no one else does. She is a Christ figure. Curt is saved by moving to Canada. Everyone else either never gets out of that town or they die in Viet Nam.

This film had a major impact on me. I remember riding around in my 55 chevy Pick up 327 Four speed, then my Wimbleton white 66 390 fairlane, wearing white t shirts with my Cigarettes rolled up in the sleave, Listening to 50/60 rock. I kind of stood out, because this was in the 80's I used to wonder if I was reincarnated or something. Lol 😏

To me, old skool is the best school. I dig those drag vans. One day about 20 years ago while driving home on the freeway service drive, I stopped at a light, and beside me was a mid 60's panel van, tubbed with big drag meats, and a loud romping engine. I gave him a thumbs up, he nodded back, and then while I turned he took off at the green light. The engine noise blasted and then suddenly went completely quiet as the van disappeared like a bullet down the drive and got real small real fast. Personally, other than a tubbed and supercharged C3 Corvette I saw, probably the quickest and fastest thing I've ever seen on the street. Never seen it again before or since.
