You nailed this. Once you know, you wonder how you never saw these differences before.

Nice job Tom. My first car was a 1970 Mustang Mach 1. A ‘70 can be distinguished from the similar ‘69 by a couple things. The ‘70 has single headlights vs quad headlights for the ‘69. The ‘70 has “Mach 1” emblazoned into three lower side rocker panels vs the ‘69 which has “Mach 1” in side tape strips down both sides of the car. There are a few other minor differences but these are the easiest way to distinguish between the two.

Thanks Dan. Nice car to have as your first one!

@@tomeighty- Yes it was! I bought it in 1973 as a senior in HS. I started working when I was about 13 and worked after school all the way through HS saving every penny. I paid $2500 for the car in 1973.

I loved my 68 Cougar so much. I sure wish l had one nowadays.

I wish my brother still had that Cougar as well. One that that I noticed when doing research for this video is that I really like the stock steering wheel a lot better on the 1968 than the 1967 Cougars. Minor detail that I probably wouldn't care about when I was younger but for some reason in my older age I have an opinion on what looks good for stock steering wheels. And I would for sure much rather have a stock steering wheel on an older car and not an aftermarket racing steering wheel. Just looses the nostalgic feeling.

@tomeighty Mine had a nice wood with chrome spoke w/holes. I didn't care for the stock horn pod sticking so far out from the center.

Tom - thanks for the shout out to my ‘67 Cougar. That was a fun car.

The best... wish it was still around. Could you imagine still having that as your daily driver. If only we knew better back then, that car would be worth a lot.

I could tell ya more differences, but they're on the inside... I learned nothing new here, says a retired Master Goodwrench. For others you got it right, good info!!! If built between '50 & '90 I worked on with a handful of exceptions... Only worked 20 yrs and trained as electronic techi.

Thanks for watching and glad you found it interesting. I've always found some pride in identifying a car from a far distance before it even gets close to me. I guess that is part of being car crazy and wanting to know everything about them. You are right though about the differences between interior options on all of them, that would be an endless video trying to identify all of that. ha ha. Thanks again for watching, I enjoyed making the video and might make some more like it in the future. Have a great day!

@@tomeighty I'm a car nut, can't help myself. I have owned over 500 cars and built past factory over 350....

@tomeighty , I like watching your videos. There are very few videos that tell the difference in years and models. I like to ask questions about different cars. (I've told before that I'm a book of useless information). You can never learn too much.

Glad you liked that style of video. I really enjoy finding unique things about cars, and as a teenager I had pride in being able to spot cars from a far and know the make/model/ and year with just a quick glance. I will make some more videos like this. It takes awhile to make the videos but if it does well I will do more.

Tom, you could do video on how to tell the difference between SS and Z'28 models since there's a lot of clones
@tomeighty7 ай бұрын
I'll put that on the list, thanks for the idea!
@garyszewc33396 ай бұрын
It's pretty hard to identify between different models because some models actually have two models. It was possible to get an SS, Z28. Z28 is just what the option package is called.

Tom you got 71 and 72 Chevelles backwards for me i look at the directionals 71 is one piece and 72 has 2 a divider.
@tomeighty7 ай бұрын
Interesting... I will have to check that out. Thanks for the tip!
@Calango7416 ай бұрын
If, by "directionals", you mean the front amber running lights/turn signals, then you have it backwards. 71 is divided into 2 sections and 72 has one solid amber lens with no divider.
