What consistency is your icing for this?
@sugarbeezllc3 ай бұрын
I call it a curly Q consistency. When I pull my spatula up out of the icing, it curls over like a DQ ice cream cone, if that makes sense. Or use the consistency you would for piping letters. You just don’t want the consistency to be too loose or it will get under your stencil. I hope this is helpful!

Does the piping gel that's showing dry clear? I tried using Karo syrup and any syrup that "oozed" out showed on the cookie.
@sugarbeezllc4 ай бұрын
Hi Denise, if it’s oozing out, you’re putting on too much. I use a clean paint brush or sponge brush to spread the karo syrup or piping gel on the back of the edible paper. You want it to be a very thin layer so that it doesn’t ooze out. If it does ooze out, wipe it away immediately using a clean dry finger using care not to touch the printed areas so you don’t smear the ink. I hope this helps!!

Hi Tracy. Thank you for the great video. I tried it on the weekend. My icing had a tiny bleed as well as some icing were spotty when I pulled the screen off. If I were to make the RI thinner to avoid the spots, then there would be more bleed and vice versa. So I wonder if something else I did wasn’t working. For example, is it possible that the extra screen on the bottom wasn’t long enough for me to pull so it created some bumps on the stencil (circle cookie) instead of having it lay flat. And is it also possible that the stencil design itself was hard to make a clean scrape (like the lines are too close together)? Or anything else? This video inspired me to the scraping method, so I want to learn to get better at it for next time! 😊
@sugarbeezllc8 ай бұрын
The blank spots, is that happening on the very first swipe? Makes me think the icing dried on the stencil. The consistency should have the DQ swirl…when you lift your spatula up out of the icing, the point should fall over like a DQ ice cream swirl.
@julianawijoyo8248 ай бұрын
@@sugarbeezllc No, it happened on each one, some less and some more. Yes, I think the icing clumped together on the stencil. I did thin it down and it was still doing the blank spots, but not as severe, and there was some bleeding too; so I can't thin it down further. Hence I wonder if the extra silkscreen around the design wasn't big enough for my cookie or maybe the design itself isn't working for the scraping method. Would you have further insight on this? Thanks.

The screen gives a cleaner design than a stencil? How so? Does it diffuse the icing more? I would love to know how to make screens.
