I have a JTV69 and love it. About to buy a new one and surprise surprise they no longer make them. Huge mistake I think but I guess they just didn’t sell well.

@@Souldoubtrocks it was pretty upsetting when I found out that they were no longer going to be making these guitars. I think it was announced earlier this year, possibly late last year, I can't remember for sure. From what I understand some of the parts needed to make the Variax guitars had been discontinued and they couldn't source them any longer. It was impossible to continue production on the current generation of Variaxes. I REALLY hope some day there will be a new generation of Variax guitars 🤞

There's a link to a free preset in the description of this video, as well as explaining how it's setup. That's pretty much what I'm using in this video. I don't remember if the preset has a looper block in it, but if not just add it to the first block in the chain. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIjZcoiOfryFfdE

Thanks so much Chad. I've learned a lot from your videos and I have purchased several of your presets on the Line 6 website. You are so right from a past video that the Variax is your main axe and you hardly ever play your other guitars. Me too. I go to my Parker every now and then but mostly use my Standard. Thanks again. Thank you for your guidance, bloody brilliant. I'm new to Ableton Lite. I write music and have currently bought a DAW by focus rite. The software is all new to me and very hard to find direction. Iv managed to record vocal and aucostic guitar at the same time, but the rest is lost on me. Also, how to lay a drum track or the other software that comes with it. All down loaded, but it's still very confusing. Look forward to more advice and guidance. Please keep up the good work 👏

The POD Go sounds perfect because I like to actually play my guitar rather than sit in a dark bedroom making my five-thousandth dual-path user patch.
@ChadHuskey29 күн бұрын
I agree about the Pod Go. I've enjoyed mine as well. And the simplicity is nice. The way I combat the tendency of making preset after preset on the Helix is that I basically built one preset I like and I use that one 99% of the time. My main preset I've tweaked over the years in terms of changing some of the effects from time to time, but the core preset and the amp model I use (litigator) hasn't changed since 2016. I used the Matchless before the litigator was added, but after it came out I've stayed with it. Basically I just found "my sound" and I don't mess with it. It's too easy to get caught up in the endless possibilities of any of the high end modeling devices. I enjoy building presets for my KZbin channel a lot, and it's cool to see what I can come up with. But in terms of what I use when I'm going to make music I always go to my main preset. Unless I'm recording and need something specific.

Loved your video, it's hard to find guitar players who can judge variax guitars in a objective way. Personally I am very happy with my jtv 59, I owned a standard american strat before so I could compare the strat with the variax spank model and I actually liked more the sound quality of the variax so I sold the strat because the variax was much more versatile in the studio. I don't miss firmware updates but it would be so cool if Line6 eventually releases a revstar with variax tech now the jtv has been discontinued

I agree with you on the editing and scrolling. It feels like forever...one of the reasons I use it for home use only and never for band practice. I just feel the older UI (Zoom G3N, G3XN etc) seems a lot faster. Hope they can do a similar thing through firmware updates. Nice vid Chad. One more subscriber here.

having trouble with this...I've followed every step meticulously,,,, i want chorus on the clean amp but not the overdriven (as in the example), but its not happening! I'm still getting the effect albeit greatly reduced... same with reverbs and delays etc... Am i missing something? heres my path... amp/cab (clean) on path one.. second amp/cab (dirty) on path 2A.. Path 2B which should effect clean amp has chorus and delay with the reverb after the merge block (so it effects both amps).. When i bypass clean amp altogether but leave the fx on, you can hear them effecting the dirty amp although not as much... Can you tell me where im going wrong! Good video though... Cheers!
@ChadHuskeyАй бұрын
I'm replying to this not sitting in front of Helix, so I'll do my best to trouble shoot from memory :) What I think is happening is that when you bypass/turn off the clean amp your guitar signal still gets fed through it. It will be MUCH quieter, but it's still there. Which is probably why you're still hearing the effects. If you are using the merge block to switch between the paths then that shouldn't be happening, but if you are just bypassing the clean amp block you'll experience what you're hearing. Without seeing your preset I can't be sure which is happening, but let me know if you are bypassing the clean amp model only, and if so that's the problem.
@andybrown3990Ай бұрын
@@ChadHuskey ok i got it... so is there a way of switching off the merge block within different snapshots, or is it just a case of using slider to null the level and saving it? Either way, its good... Thjanks for your help!

I've got a Helix Rack with the Foot Controller. I used to have a Boss GT-100, but the potentiometers are crapping out on me, so I bought the Helix Rack (I like rack units better because I don't have kneel down onstage to change something and I don't have a bazillion cables going from the floor unit to the amp that's 15 to 20 feet behind me). ANYWAY ... this video was helpful and I'm starting to finally understand how this thing works. I was so frustrated that I almost bought a Boss GT-1000 even though I have the Helix Rack which I prefer. BTW, I'm in North Carolina too. I wish you lived close to me so you could show me in person how to program the thing, but, like I said, the video is helpful.

Thank you for your help. I downloaded WB and made some adjustments to my JTV that I didn’t realize was possible until I saw your series on this software. Is there a way to edit the tuning presets on the Alt Tuning knob through Workbench HD? Or can those only be done on the guitar itself? Mine is basically set for virtual capos all the way up the dial, but I’d like to clean things up a little through the app (and maybe permanently re-label the knob). Many Thanks for taking the time to upload these videos!
