I live in Indiana, but go to Kentucky and Ohio quite a bit bourbon hunting as well, and I've never seen Hardins Creek anywhere in those 3 states( haven'tbeen to the Beam distillery though).....but are there states it's readily available?

Avowedly, you are the reason why I began purchasing Sagamore, especially, the finishing series. To this end, this episode could have been better prepared: no PX Sherry, no Manhattan...; In addition, you failed to give specific blind and key instructions to Rita and did not eat before the blind. As a result, this significant blind turned out as a fraternity get-together before going to the ball game. Remember, Sagamore personnel are watching this.
@bourbonbill3 күн бұрын
Well this channel has always been about having fun. PX Sherry was released in like 2021. The amontillado is a sherry finish and is better than the PX Sherry. Manhattan I drank thru already because actually Rita doesn’t mind it lol. And at this point Sagamore can watch all they want they don’t do literally anything for me not a single sample or anything. Should they yes but they don’t lol. I hype them up because they are the best at what they do.

What a fun and chaotic video! Unfortunately, I wasn't drunk enough to match you guys. Lol. Editing must have been a nightmare, so I appreciate you putting this together for us. Love seeing my beloved VDN (thx to you) near the top and, from memory, I remember your Albariño sample actually beating it by a bit. So at least those results make some sense. Cheers.
@bourbonbill3 күн бұрын
Editing was a nightmare for sure lol. And yeah I think the results mostly made sense in the end. These are all good and all roughly same age with total finishing time included so it’s almost day dependent but we have both always loved the Albariño probably just forgot how good it was when we were tasting the more recent offerings

Fun blind! I was pulling for the 9 Year and the Port but just goes to show how many great bottles they produce. I would be curious on how the Manhattan finish would have done in this blind. I was lucky to stumble upon one and like it a lot more than expected.

Do you think the standard shelf 10yr bourbon is worth $120?
@bourbonbill3 күн бұрын
I wouldn’t pay that if it wasn’t a pick or wasn’t barrel proof. I think this was like 89 plus shipping so I’d say $100 makes sense but not more especially if it’s not a pick

I did pay less than srp on base, because it was 20% off special and had 20$ in rewards, but was still over the 10 bones per year. I payed 92$ out the door for mine, which is fair imo I live in Washington and it is my first Woodinville introduction and it's alright imo it's def not worth 140$ but I enjoy it but still would rather have some kentucky 8yr products!
@bourbonbill3 күн бұрын
Great price you got it at for sure but yeah this one wasn’t for me but if I did enjoy the finish I think it would beat a lot of 8yr products but alas it doesn’t for me and especially not on its price

Had to be tough with 9 pours. Little bias but love the results since the top 4 are the only 4 I own bottles of lol. The average of my results have been Port, VDN, Mead, Albarino. 9 yr would probably be up there with vdn and port for me

Blinds are blinds, you're drinking things then they are still there to some degree when you drink the next thing. That can easily tarnish the ratings to some degree, esp with so many bottles.
@bourbonbill4 күн бұрын
For sure I think if we rated the bottles individually on a scale and compared scales on different days some stuff might shuffle around
@Danr074 күн бұрын
Good stuff! I have an unopened Sherry cask finish that I’m looking forward to cracking open. I was hoping to see it as a contender. I’m sure it’s a banger regardless

Ah, no my excuses for complaining! I love blinds. In my limited rye blind, bulleit 10 the beat pikesville, blinds be crazy. On the off chance you haven’t tried redwood empires rye: emerald giant cask strength, I just tried it and it blew my mind how different it was from other ryes. All in on the herbs, it’s an absolute treat if you like stuff like licorice tea.

Yeah breaking bourbon sometimes strays from reality but I think they were trying to highlight how well done and complex it was but it’s still got this weird finish note that ultimately ruins it for me and it’s too pricey even if you loved it

Woodinville is shite and I live 30 min from them. This is their best bottle but still not great and 100% not worth their SRP. I tell you what though their PR/marketing is one of the best in the craft biz! Fools everyone.

Haha I don’t care for much they do but they do have good marketing
@The_Profezor4 күн бұрын
Great review, Bill. Given my experience sending you a variety of samples, I was worried that this would be flat-out gross for your palate due to the heavy seasoning on the barrels. Glad you were at least able to give it a fair shot and recognize the craftmanship and complexity here. I absolutely love the regular Woodinville bourbon at around $35-$40. Something about it hits my palate just right and it is in my top 5 shelfer bourbons under $50 and under 100 proof. You know, the stuff I reach for on a weekday when I just want to enjoy my pour and not think about it much. BTW, I got this bottle for $119. Very discounted. As a Woodinville fan, you nailed this sentiment: It is the pinnacle of what they can do and you will love it if you are a fan of their distillate and aging process. Now, was it worth the extra $40 over what I think it should have been ($79-ish)? Probably not, but I love having this in my collection and it is at least a bit different than many other things on my shelf. Sadly, I've paid much more for weaker, overhyped whiskey. Cheers!
@bourbonbill4 күн бұрын
Haha well I appreciate you sending this Ralph. I actually really enjoyed it up until that finish and as others have better described like a play dough note that unfortunately hung around awhile on the finish. If it didn't have that I would have sung its praises. Although I agree this would have been a better value at $85ish somewhere in there.
