Also close was, 2011 Houston Cougars (C-USA) with QB Case Keenum (darkhorse Heisman finalists and now longtime NFL QB) started season their season 12-0. Ranked #6. But got blown out in C-USA championship game against Southern Miss. But they recovered and blew out Penn St in their bowl game.

Yea as a die hard LSU fan, we loved coach O but I feel like he’s more of the glue for a team, keeps the mindset together, gives that hometown family “this is what we play for” mentality. With out Joe Brady and Steve Ensminger running that offense I don’t think he would have done as well.

One underrated G5 team that had a great season was Western Michigan in 2016. They finished 13-1 losing to Wisconsin in the cotton bowl.

About 2008 Utah and the MWC. People need to also know how absolutely terrible the MWC Network was. I wish someone would do a video about it. Like Dish and DirectTV didn’t carry it. The fact that BYU-Utah was on the Mtn. Network instead of ABC or ESPN is something I will never get over. And I am so happy the Mountain West improved in the TV department after we, BYU, and in 1 more year, TCU, left.

Mark Dantonio was one of the best, but he can’t be classified as the best when we’ve had coaches who’ve won multiple natties in their careers at MSU. I’d put him at 2-3.
