When Geffen approached them for their first album (Rubber Bands at the Stars) they only wanted Edie. They did not want to use any of the band musicians. I don't remember how it resolved (i know Edie fought them on it) but that's how it started. That's when they went from "New Bohemians" to "Edie Brickell and New Bohemians".

Albeit on a much smaller kit, this is just a terrific re-enactment of how you played "Calling Elvis" live on stage back in 1991-92, Mr Whitten. Like watching and hearing an instant replay over 30 years later! Nicely done, sir. Happy New Year 2025 to you and yours!

Use to go to creative music all the time. I got Noble CD maple snare drum from Bob as a high school graduation present in 95'. Still have it. Bob was great guy. always super helpful if he was at the shop.

I see why the producer made the drums so omnipresent. You move the whole song forward. I like seeing your blogs. They help me to understand a lot of things I take / took for granted.

It's so fine to know about you. I lost track of you since your works with Paul McCartney. After that I saw you working with Dire Straits. And now I found you here. Let me tell you that you are a great, really great and fantastic drummer. Your work in Flowers In the Dirt was impeccable. I saw you playing live during the Flowers In The Dirt Tour ( 1989 / 90 ) in Madrid, Spain, and confirmed to me what I had thought from the beginning: You are a great drummer. Thank you for being there.

The album On Every Street is one of my all time favorites, I really like how you play in that live show with Dire Straits. The tempo of the song "When It Comes To You" is on a sixteenth note basis but I only realized after watching your video that the drum groove is played in a shuffle tempo..and the affection that is created is fantastic! thanks for the videos you post, they are really interesting. You are one of my favorite drummers, I met you and took inspiration from your way of playing in the live shows where you play both with Paul McCartney and with Dire Straits. Great!
