I have an Excursion too, BUT.....I would ever, never even try to do, what you did, so stupid, and dangerous????, those tiny, little Jackstands are meant for little Sedans, about 4-5000 lbs, then you lift them up, extended them to highest spot>??????, surprised youtube even published this dangerous video???, You went to Autopart Store, at least 2-3 times,....and did not buy bigger Jackstands, and Jacks???/...and then you are talking about eating, while driving...with 2 hands......what bad, bad video =((((

I ended up buying a couple 4x8 rubber skid guard mats off Amazon and bolted them on my flatbed, it works so much better rather than scratching up the paint whenever I haul something. Nothing better than having an old flat bed truck to haul stuff around, good job.

These engines have some flaws, but what engine doesn't. A more robust lift pump and a new PMD is the fix for most of them. Somebody has to be making these, as popular as the engine is currently. Many people love these old trucks. Two mechanical errors that I saw a lot were forgetting the cam spacing washer, ( big old heavy thing , looked like it belonged on the end of a crankshaft ) and installing a pushrod upside down. The end of the pushrod with a pink ring around it goes to the top. This engine was used in H-1 Hummers as well as 3/4 and 1 ton Chevy/GMC trucks. All told, regular fluid and filter changes and common sense make these a great truck. (Install a switch to run the fuel lift pump from under the hood, you will be bleeding air from the filter , and it makes it much easier if one man is doing the job.)

Absolutely wrong. The 6.2,6.5 diesels are good engines designed fuel efficient option that also offered real diesel torque for truck use. Only the later digital controller had some issues. Military 6.5 were still all mechanical and didn't suffer the same issues. These are real Detroit diesel engines as well not based on a gasoline engine The Detroit 6.2,6.5 was a successful engine as many are still in use today. There are real bad engines out there, but these little Detroit V8 diesels aren't One of them.

I know I’m late to the game but just a heads up for everyone. A lot of good info here but one very important thing. Don’t do what this guy did and run your vehicle for a week with a failing alternator. Continuing to drive a 6.0 till your accessories shut down is a bad idea!!! You can very easily take out your FICM!!!! (Very expensive) 🤦🏻♂️

Well I sold it so a new owner is experiencing a really cool truck. There might be some issues with an old 6.5 with 215k but nothing too horrible. If you’re getting a good deal would go for it. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Anyone who owns a 6.5 needs to know NOT to use a cheap foreign part on its IP system, even a cheap cable can cause issues. Previous owner used a cheap eBay kit that I have had to completely replace with a Stanadyne PMD (but the one I bought came with a cheap cable!). Leroy Diesel makes his own cables in Texas and the 6' relocated PMD cable I bought from him changed the way my truck runs! You can also buy a 2 quart oil filter to expand this motor's oil capacity, which was smaller than the PowerStroke and Cummins competitors' capacities.

I have an 09’ h2 with the 6.2 and 6L80 that is supercharged. I started out with a 07’ h3 and loved it. I recently purchased two red 07’ h3’s for my two boys. They are both getting rebuilt and 5.3 LS swapped. I’ve always thought that a boosted v8 in a h3 would be the perfect platform

I know some people have a hard time believing this, but Harbor Freight has some good tools. Are they all good? No, I can speak from experience. The Bauer line isn’t that bad, and it’s actually improving on quantity of 20 volt tools and their respective performance. Some people just can’t or won’t grasp that concept.

most of these setups i have seen seem to place the spare tire closer to the passengers side and the Jerry can on the driver side...i guess in theory the heavy spare tire offsets the weight of the driver for a more balanced load.
