Keep coming back to this. I understand it just a bit better after years of playing the banjo. Just glorious.

Is Jarron playing a Fred VanEpps banjo? Possibly the one that was on Pete Seegers Rainbow Quest?

Just the other day I was working out on my tenor banjo and I thought to myself, I wonder how Zac is doing. 2 or 3 days later I get a "My Mix" pop up and there you are! It's good for the soul hearing you workin' it. Thanks Zac!

I don't suppose you'd fancy putting together a lesson on this or have some sheet music/tab for it? I'm just picking up fiddle so will give it a go by ear but I love this version so much and all the other lessons I can find are in different keys.

Lovely - saw you with LA LOM and Jerron Paxton at Soho in SB. What a great night! It was an honor to meet you both (I didn't meet the other fellas in LA LOM....alas). You're one of the tastiest players around, Mr. Sokolow - very inspiring.

The top four are just like open c tuning on a banjo. Can’t remember the low ones, but I think it’s a C and and G

Truly my favorite version of this song. So melodic and dynamic. I’ve watched this video more times than I care to admit, in part, hoping to steal a lick or two off Fred. It finally occurred to me that he’s tuned to open D, playing in open G w the capo. Just like the banjo. What a cool arrangement.

I'm gonna be honest here. This guy is drop dead sexy to look at, and no doubt he's talented as hell... but I'm sorry, this music just sucks. It's more grating to me than bagpipes, and I never thought it could get worse than that.

Again, so great! Your fiddleplaying has inspired me a lot. It would be great to know how you recorded this - what kind of recording device did you use. I am asking beqause the sound of your recording is particulary good. The strong and full sound of the fiddle and also your voice. I would like to do a similar recording my self so I would be very glad for advice in this regard.
