Because its prohibitively expensive and the game is an imbalanced power crept to all hell solitaire simulator that has a bunch of really unfun band aid solutions to make the game even remotely interactive. People hate the solitaire aspect, they hate the hand traps that struggle to keep the 50 card combos in check. Its lose/lose. Also as a newer player it's insufferable to try to learn a thousand cards with paragraphs of text as your opponent plays 27 cards in a turn. The anime and its popularity is the only reason this card game didn't die. It is horribly unfun, impossible to learn, and a permanently imbalanced mess that can and never will be fixed. I quit the game about a month after starting because as I learned the game I realized how fucked it was and knew it would never change

So I wanted to talk about this a bit. What's up with the rarity distribution in general? We know that the OCG does have multiple rarities (some unique to that region, same goes to TCG also) but overall Im focusing on cards that do not have many printings, therefore not many rarities, or are "locked" in only 1 singular rarity. E.G. Ultra only. I've noted quite a lot of Super/Ultras in main boosters/boxes but a lack of Secrets for example. Does Konami just not want to print both Super/Ultra & Secret in that booster? To add, there's some if not most booster that is entirely Super/Ultra (excluding commons). Another thing is "unique" rarities that are again, exclusively "locked" behind something: a tin (Prismatic Secret, the cross-hatch looking secret variant), or a time-frame (25th Secret). I wonder why can't they incorporate those into the main booster/boxes, make it a permanent thing (especially the cross-hatch secret), just make it like idk, 1-2 slots for the rarity distribution for those booster/boxes.

Because games are meant to be fun, nobody has fun TRYING to play and being interrupted and negated every second.

Let me answer that. I used to be a teenager when the first booster sets came out. It was fun and simple then. Now, several years later, the game has become very complex with all sort of weird special summonings. Also the ridiculous tiny print on the cards! It hurts people's eyes. Who comes up with so many instructions for a single card? So yeah, this game is not very appealing for new comers or returning ones.

Over all the only problem i see is Konami needs to simplify the game like be more direct with effects, traps n spells. Some cards have so much text on them to the point where you can't understand what to do it's somewhat confusing

funny you mentioned VG player accepting it being bad game. While in OCG, cards are getting cheaper and cheaper and very accessible, VG cards are keep getting price inflated in both ENG and JP format. OCG meta decks are at most expensive is just 100ish$, while 100$ in VG will just get you a meh tier deck. But I can see most of yu gi oh complains are from TCG sides where western Konami being predatory AF.

I love card games and yugioh but the prices turn me off from ever even trying to get into the physical card game. I’ll stay on master duel till they do something about that.

New YGO players hear my call, come to MASTERDUEL in the DUEL ROOM edit your username as it is the only way to communicate your playstyle. Username tips --> "RETRO ROOM" or "GOAT" ; "EDISON" ; "2004" ; old school ; are excellent keywords to have in you username. Create a room : Unlimited - Using obby deck. For some reasons, refresh your room visibility if nobody joins it after 30 seconds by closing it and re-opening one And have fun, collect old school cards to create your deck. --- Good luck with farming gems.

You know what would slay in card games? Pre-build competetive decks that are GOOD. I'm talking a more expensive 200$ or more product but you get a whole decklist from a tournament, with a lil guide inside with tips from pro players.

I stepped away from ygo during COVID and was going to come back then Lorcana came out and after the game stabilized after a botched launch I love it. Decks on average are $250 with decent and different support at the local lvl. I love Yu-Gi-Oh for what it brought me in life though
@xnitropunkx5 күн бұрын
I think a big part of it has to do with how the early series game is entirely different then what it turned into with link and xyz summoning. Most TCGs lean hard into their nostalgia while Yu-Gi-Oh tries to bury it. Yes I know they just did a rerun of classic sets a couple years ago but it changed nothing because of the limited supply

I’ve been a fan of Union Arena since the game got announced, I was pissed about being locked behind a region lock so much. I had gotten the demo decks, and I’ve gotten several bunches of the Japanese cards, and now that the game is now available, we are so back

I loved yugioh as a kid, im talking dressing up, yugioh parties, etc. i tried playing the online game last year and GOD the power creep and complexity made me quit after 2 fights. It was so simple and now it feels like you need a ful yugioh phd tu understand how to play.

As late as I may be: I honestly like the older discontinued One Piece TCG way more on terms of card readability and Piracy Flourishes. Your Discard Pile being called "Ocean" for example.

They stopped trying to make banger video games to immerse yourself within the world. A story game goes a long way. Also having no anime to go along with the current cards makes releases really blend together

Yu-gi-oh cant get new players because they power crept people out of the game. The original game was a very easy concept. Now there's so many different types of decks with their own difficulties - and that a player on their first turn can take 5 minutes setting themselves up.
