Bold statement in title. How far can she point upwind? Can she match or beat true wind? What's her typical reach like? Biggest seas she's been through? What's her Top speed so far? How low or high in latitudes have you taken her? What's her sail plan like? - what would you want to make her sail plan if you could snap your fingers and make it happen in an instant. What's her displacement and considerations when fully loaded for a crossing... All these things are so interesting to know . I hope you see this comment and respond . ❤

In such rough sea is a Trimaran safer than a catamaran?
@sailoceans2 ай бұрын
At that point I would say it depends on the operator and the choice of course, sails, etc. Both give you the speed to position yourself in relation to the system in such way as to end up on broad reach or quartering tailwind. It is the best, stable, safe, and reasonably comfortable point of sail even in 50+ knots winds as we have experienced few times. If you were to try to sail into such winds it would be a death wish with such boat. Having said all that I like the added stability/beam of the tri vs. cat. Thanks for a good question. Cheers. B

@@sailoceans Thank you so much for your reply. I’m working for few years now on Tristan da Cunha island. We have some sailboats passing by. The sea can be incredibly rough. Often the boats are coming from South America on their way to Cape Town.

@@sailoceans thank you very much for your answer. I have been working on Tristan da Cunha island for the past 7 years. Often rough seas. I saw few sailboats coming back from South America heading towards Cape Town. But very few Trimarans.

Nice boat. Congratulations. Just a quick note. At 22:25 you probably don't want to use the term "polyamory". It has particular meaning in English that I suspect you don't intend. Cheers.
@sailoceans2 ай бұрын
Thank you. Yes, we do intend that. Cheers.
@HD464092 ай бұрын
@@sailoceans Really? Just to be less subtle, polyamory involves things like swinging, wife swapping and basically having s3x with people who are not your spouse often in a group setting. And if I understand your response correctly, you're doing this on a small boat with your kids meters away? I hope I'm misunderstanding you, but if not that's a pretty bold choice on how to raise your kids. Again, I'm a pretty liberal guy, but I can't imagine that you mean what I just wrote above and that this is a language based misunderstanding....
@jachtemprzezswiat2 ай бұрын
@@HD46409 I had to check. So here it is straight from Wikipedia: Polyamory - the practice of engaging in multiple romantic (and typically sexual) relationships, with the consent of all the people involved. So yes, polyamory is about emotional non-binary relations and could be sexual, but it does not have to be. My understanding is that swinging is all about sexual and not about emotional/romantic, which seems exact opposite, so yes we did not have that in mind. I am also not sure how you married the two terms. Cheers.
@HD464092 ай бұрын
@@jachtemprzezswiat From the perspective of the English language and common understanding, you are splitting hairs on the word polyamory. Most English speakers that you are going to run into in the sailing community are going to make the assumption that I did. You may find the level of distinction and specificity that you suggest (i.e., that polyamory is not always sexual) in the "alternative lifestyle" communities, but I doubt that's who you're mostly speaking to with videos about boats. Just to be clear, I'm not moralizing about any lifestyle that is undertaken by consenting adults including the "lifestyle", but as non-native English speakers you should be aware of the linguistic territory that you are inadvertently or deliberately heading into. You do you.

I had no idea that a refit is code for the depths & lengths in which your boat got stripped down wowza ! Thats what i call a remodel extreme. Its funny how you will state whats fancy schmancy vs whats not lol very down to earth folks is my guess. In the boating world maybe that isnt always the case. Wonderful videos & Cleary the ((( Fridge ))) comes with the boat when sold 😅😅😅😅

How did you finance the purchase first of the Neel, and how can you afford all of this? I had an agreement for an AA Piver 48 at $65,000 that I couldn’t close due to the fact no one wanted to lend me the money! (I’m a disabled veteran that grosses $96,000 per year) I love the refrigerator and I wanted to do the hydraulic lift on the beds. I appreciated how you rebuilt the boat, I’ve been a fan of Neel trimarans for years and even watched videos on your boat before you bought it!
