Many thanks for this tutorial. I've come back to it twice now when making curtains for my home.

Wow! You make it look so easy. I have been wanting to make my own drapes. I have very little knowledge in sewing. Wish you lived in Kansas and gave sewing lessons.

What a gorgeous book! And it sounds like an incredible wealth of knowledge.

I’m struggling with getting the corners nice. Could you do a short focusing on that?
@kristamwestАй бұрын
Yes, I'll be doing an IG reel on that, hopefully this weekend and I'll upload it as a KZbin short as well.

Yes, we're stitching new samples of both colorways so I can re-release the design in both red and blue. Stay tuned!

Hi Krista. One more question, please. If I am using curtain pleat tape that is 2.75 inches wide at the top, do I need to also add interfacing or crinoline behind it? Or would that be too stiff? Thanks!
@Vicky-de9of2 ай бұрын
Thank you. So you took 4 inches off the width of the lining?

I so love your way to describe the process. I have made unlined drapes with a large repeat for my first floor. My daughter has requested I make panels for a retail dressing room, but it’s velvet. She wants to have the same velvet as the back too. Have you ever done this before?
@kristamwest2 ай бұрын
I haven't done that exact process, but I'd suggest using a really long length of velvet, folding it in half and then putting some interfacing or crinoline where it's going to attach to the drapery rings. Sew the sides together, maybe leaving the hems open at the bottom and that should work. Happy sewing!
@mdcvalentine2 ай бұрын
@@kristamwest thank you for your quick reply. That was my thought, not sure about pressing the velvet. I’ll check with other videos. Btw, I just watched your unlined curtain video, you make it look so easy. The fabric is fabulous, I’m sure the bathroom looks great.

That was stunning. As I am from Ukrainian heritage I was looking for the similarities as Ukraine was under Greek rule for some time. I hope Ukraine can have the same type of collection one day. The colors and elaborate designs was just beautiful to see, I have to see it in person, one day I’ll get there. Thanks Krista!

Yes, there are a lot of shared motifs between all sorts of folk embroidery as patterns and designs made their way around the world through trading ships and population migrations. I love Ukrainian embroidery and have been slowly adding more Ukrainian textiles and books to my collection so I can study them in more depth and keep the designs coming!

Hi Krista, have you ever seen the embroidery of the shipibo people in Peru? They are soooo interesting. There is a huge textile tradition over there, mostly weaving in the Andes but the embroidery comes from the Amazonian people.

Krista... your entire ethos and approach to translating your talent into folk embroidery is top tier. Preordering your book was never an "if", merely a "when." Looking forward to a blissful autum of learning and improving. P.S.) The recent release of the curated floss palettes? I couldn't resist... and plan to make repeat purchases. Thanks again for all of your and your team's combined efforts on the behalf of the love of handcrafting~~ from the Midwest, US.
