Hey Ronny, I wonder if these on-road vs off-road dynamic roof load ratings are actually a limit imposed by the vehicle manufacturer. I understand your original Rhino rack video is 2 years old, and this one 1 year, so I’m a bit late to the party, but I’m just getting into the 4WD’ing scene myself. If I jump on Rhino Rack’s website, the 2021 PX3 Ranger had an 80kg roof limit, but still carried a one-third reduction in carrying capacity going from on-road to off-road. Conversely, the new Ranger has an 85kg dynamic load rating, yet doesn’t incur a one-third reduction between on and off-road travel. A quick google shows D-Max’s OEM roof rack carry’s a one-quarter reduction between on and off-road use. Jumping into Rhino Rack’s website again, and it matches; a one-quarter reduction is shown. Yakima on the other hand actually has a handy online guide that articulates how different mounting methods induce different off-road reductions. Fixed point mounts reduce dynamic off-road capacity by 0%. Track mount and raised rails reduce by 20%, and flush rails and door gutter mounts reduce by 33%. Toyota was a REALLY hard one to work out, as there’s just so little information out there for carrying capacities. As I said; it has been 2 years since your insight into Rhino Rack occurred, but if anything, I feel inclined to trust them more than all the other roof rack manufacturers, simply because they’ve updated their website and provide all the figures. Companies like ARB are just atrocious for getting specifications from. Power is knowledge, and KNOWING when I am within the limits or not, is better than just assuming.

Hey Ronny. Congrats on handling the negativity surrounding this so well mate. It's refreshing to see someone take a position on an issue, and defend it calmly, with logic and reason, and simultaneously be open-minded enough to entertain many different perspectives. Especially when many of those perspectives are in direct contravention with your own. Well done Sir. Glad I was able to find this video.

Thanks for the great insightful videos. I think a lot of people WANT to put a ton of stuff on their roofs and then complain about the noise, about the mpgs lost, about the conservative load ratings from the car vs the overblown ratings from the rack manufacturers and their emotions go all over the place. A lot of people fall on the conservative side and reassess what their actual needs are and do the right thing...i.e. safety first. Other people start lying to themselves and others about manufacturers being overly safe, about such and such person having traveled all over the world with such and such load on their racks, and use that as an excuse to overload their roofs and do whatever it is that they want to do. It's just human nature. There are the smart minority of humans, and then there are the less smart minority of humans and then there's the sheep inbetween who listen to either the devil or angel on their shoulders and act accordingly.

Yeah that's a poster shot. Only criticism I have for this one is a little more space at the rear of the Cruiser to the edge of the photo to make it even with the front. I'd still hang a copy up on the wall. Lovin these photography shorts Ronny, I hope you don't mind my criticisms.

Awesome shot! could have maybe pulled down the highlights in the lights around the Cruiser and maybe a stack of the Milky way would remove the clouds and bring colour into the milky way then blend in photoshop with the foreground. Another creative criticism would be park up where there are less foot prints and tyre tracks in the sand. Hope ya cool with the feed back Ronny, looking forward to Sunday's video.

Pretty much agree with everything you said. Basically (although it won't stop the trolls) don't comment or write something that you wouldn't say to the persons face. I was also going to mention to you about the thumbs down button during the vid because I also don't see the point, then you mentioned it LOL. We don't need negativity. I've watched a couple of things lately where I've not liked how something was presented as such, but as you say, just turn off. No need to hurt someone's feelings. Horses for courses. Its all just done for entertainment and help/information. I don't understand why people have to pick holes in everything all the time...........grrrrrr. (is that a spelling mistake??? Wasn't sure how many `R's

Isn’t the whole purpose of the torque converter lockup kit for when towing to keep auto trans temps lower near 80c by eliminating torque converter slip and thus heat generated? Oxidised trans fluid from being overheated is what destroys auto trans & towing with a constantly slipping torque converter is what overheats and thus oxidises the trans fluid. So do you run a scan gauge to monitor the trans fluid temp while towing and does turning the TC lockup kit on or off actually make any difference to the trans fluid temps by eliminating torque converter slip. Do you run a Kaon aftermarket / auxiliary transmission fluid cooler on the lux to also help keep trans fluid temps cool while towing?

So if you can’t get 6th gear fuel economy and range must be terrible 😞..I’ve got the same model for work and get 9.6l per 100km. 720km range .. but when I tow my boat the range drops to 650 km. … with all these mods you must be lucky to get 500 km out of a standard tank ..

I got 33s, snorkel, modded stock airbox for more airflow, a turbo back HKS exhaust, and I get 9.2kml... 600km to a tank... used to get 900 to 1000 stock ... Still monitoring ... oh I got an ECU Shop throttle controller to make it snappy and have it on mode 3 out of 14 .. so it's more responsive... that and driving in normal not eco mode...maybe my foot is heavy...
