Why did you go to series? Almost always makes sense to have parallel if shading is an issue. You need to check if shading covers more than one panel. Although based on your results maybe we have panels with weird specs and a weird number of cells.

Hi, I'm just curious, how do you guys have a 24v system with no battery balancer? Are your batteries 12v batteries wired in series parallel or do you actually have 24v batteries?
@JodieandJoe2 ай бұрын
We have a 24v battery I made out of lithium iron phosphate cells. We use a 12-24 DC to DC charger to make it work with the vans 12v starter battery

5:22 do not use solid conductors in vehicles!
@JodieandJoe3 ай бұрын
What would you suggest we use instead?
@bellumCretatus3 ай бұрын
@@JodieandJoe for vehicles always fine stranded wire, solid conductors are for buildings only. Make sure to crimp ferrules on the ends. I like that you use these conduits, thumbs up for that. Also, I hope you put an insulator like fibreboard between the cells. The case is conductive and if the thin blue wrap rubs trou, you have dead short on the series connections. You don‘t want that 😉.
@JodieandJoe3 ай бұрын
We changed all the wiring to the blue arctic flex in a later video. Yep we put an insulated foam thing between each cell. Thanks for the tips!

I love the fact you have used many cells to create a big battery. Did you find it cost affective and easy to do??

Battery cells have now halved in price so it is now much more cost effective. I'd personally buy a battery enclosure now to hold the cells and BMS safety and tidy

@JodieandJoe3 ай бұрын
Sure I'd recommend running as much as you can from DC power eg lights, fans, usbs, using a "house battery" which is a separate battery from the vans starter battery. Ideally Lithium and not lead acid, id go with a single 12v 100-200ah for a simple set up. Then get a small inverter 1000-2000w for AC house power for your smaller household appliances.

Yes i know vans are as sexy as fridges on wheels but there is just something special about them. I own a new mid size van and a big van the size of yours. The ability to change the interior to fit whatever you do and change the inside again if you need to is awesome. I call my one my house that i can take on adventures.

We pressed the foam into the ribs to get an indent then carved out the area. We also used the silver tap on the part we cut out to keep it as a vapour barrier
