The condensation is from lack of ventilation, the real trick is allowing ventilation without letting in the cold.
@JodieandJoe2 жыл бұрын
Interesting we'll try letting in a little air and see what happens. Thanks for the tip
@bruceaskin96452 жыл бұрын
@@JodieandJoe I have an Australian Holden panel van , that I used to sleep in regularly. Condensation would gather on the roof, to the point of dripping off. By leaving one of the front windows down , just a little it solved the problem completely. However I did have to make a mesh piece to fit in it , to stop mossies. Going to suggest something based totally upon theory. You have a diesel heater. Put a Y or T section on the air intake , with a gate to vary between fresh and recirculated air, obviously the fresh running outside. This way you can heat the air coming in. You will also need to have an exhaust vent for carbon dioxide and moisture. Breathing creates moisture in the air. Your van should already be equipped with some. If not , they have to point downwards on the outside. This stops rain coming in , and also cold air. With your heater running , most have a thermostat / switch, the air pressure inside should be slightly greater than the air outside, meaning the exhaust vents , should not draw cold air in.

@erikdam391 Жыл бұрын
Hey, Joe, while watching campervan videos I came across one I thought would be good to point in your direction, as rewatching your build episodes I worry that you are guilty of making a common mistake in your door insulation... Try checking the youtube channel @roadandboard, more specifically the episode "Macht diesen Fehler nicht beim Vanausbau / Türen dämmen" (Don't make this error when insulating your van doors). I realize you most likely don't understand German, but the video should speak for itself... The problem is that door handles are not water proof. In the video you can see how water poured on the outside of the door above the handle causes water to run down the inside of the door - which in your case is difficult due to the insulation you put in... It is a problem you also need to take into consideration if there are any holes at the lower sides for the trims.... Putting in the sound dampening mat is OK as such, water can still run down past it, but doing anything else inside the cavity should be avoided. A better solution would be to cover the cavity with a plastic sheet, using some kind of adhesive to keep it tight (commonly used in cars), and then place e.g. a 19mm Armaflex or similar layer on the outside of this before covering it up with e.g. a wood panel... Thinking back I realize I actually know this problem from an old car I used to have. I had taken off the door panels in order to mount some new speakers, peeling away the plastic sheet providing the water barrier behind the panels, and when it rained the water came in through the doors, soaking the floor mats.. . 😞Of course in my case the problem was even more pronounced, as windows that can open up offer even more openings for the water to get inside the doors... Keeping the current insulation in your doors makes it difficult to get rid of any water that comes in, and you risk both more rust - as well as mold problems... Looking forward to your next videos!
