I find nostalgia does blind you. But things like Link to the past or Pokemon etc can still hit just as hard. I think the games that are both a nostalgia hit and the prime of their time can still stand out. Last year I went back into pokemon and played quite a few back to back and loved it. This year I’m only playing new to me games. First I’m playing nier automata and the excitement of a newer prime of its time and new to me story has been so much more fulfilling.

For me its been the "message" thats killed current gen . I have become a Nintendo fan and only play older systems. Something is missing ... Metroid Prime remaster was SO FREAKING FUN. I couldnt put it down, that is what I miss. Im not psychologist just an old gamer that loved the PS2 and 3, xbox 360, gamecube , DS 3ds and PsViTa . Companies gotta figure it out not me cause I have no drive to buy a ps5 or xbox X. Yet the Switch 2 has my attention cause i know old remasterd ports are on the way.

I like your way of chatting about games and drinking coffee. It’s chill. You do your thing. Don’t have to be like every other generic gaming channel. As a fellow gamer in his mid-thirties, I also appreciate your take on games and how we can glean wisdom from them.

Was a console gamer as a kid just for the pure fact that it was my only option. I always wanted a PC but the costs are inaccessible for someone who doesn't have a full time job. Bought my first PC a few years ago and it blows console gaming out of the water. Its not just the better graphics and performance. Its the amount of games available on pc. I get all of Xbox, 95% of PlayStation, and the PC exclusives which tend to be some of my favorites (tactical shooters, mmo, and survival games)

I'm really enjoying your channel. The posturing on gaming and the wisdom you get from it to apply to life is great. You just like me fr because I'm a father of two, and need that half hour of gaming to unwind after work and parenting. The negative feedback is actually a good thing when you realize they're just giving you engagement lol

This is why I find a modded Vita to be a great on the go system in 2025. Huge PSP library along with the Vita games. Tons of stuff that's easy to start up play pause and then jump back in as ya go. Vita oled looks awesome still and im just not happy with current gen games.

Thanks for creating a positive space here man, genuinely has a positive impact on my mental health.

Married father of 3 in my 40s. I’ve been a gamer since the 80s. It’s just harder these days. Time of course being the greatest challenge. I worked hard to create the gaming environment I had dreamed of as a kid, but I find myself too tired and not into gaming as much today. My kids love gaming as well, but in their own way so I just watch and support them. The steam deck is what allowed me to still enjoy gaming again. Small snack bite sessions and able to play older titles which I prefer. Steam deck=cozy gaming. Also, caffeine does nothing for me either 😂. I blame my military and law enforcement past for that, but I do enjoy a good coffee still. Keep up the good content bud! Great vid!

I only read the title and my thought is realizing I love playing 7th gen and prior games vs new stuff. I went ham on getting Switch games but that console sits on its dock looking pretty more than I pick it up. Ive even debated on selling it to get an Xbox One X just to play some Xbox and 360 games that Ive never tried before. Gaming back when we were kids doesnt hit the same now partly because we have responsibility but also because theyre not JUST games.....theyre money makers for developers. Everything is pay to play. I want to be excited for games but their execution is rough. GTA6 will likely be my last hoorah with games and this current generation will be my last buy because I really dont see it getting any better. Games are meant to pull me out of reality, not make me question if i can afford DLC or have games that are hyper realistic

Great Video. Too many people get wrapped up in identity and don’t realize it doesn’t matter. We will be what we’re going to be in that moment. Nothing more, nothing less. Sometimes, we are multiple things all simultaneously, and other times, it can be singly focused. The most important thing is to be present in the moment and enjoy the people in our lives

I’m getting the nostalgia feels from the new Tokyo xtreme racer remake rn. So simple but so awesome. A faithful remake from the ps2 era with unreal engine 5 quality. There’s nothing as refreshing or enjoyable as a familiar friend. I’ve given up on the new game hype and I’m sticking to what I love. Time is finite after all so why not spend it on something you love

Going through a major Nintendo kick right now. I didn't game much between age 15 and 32, but got back into it with gusto. I spent 2-3 years trying Xbox and PlayStation stuff, but to me there's no more rewarding time spent gaming than Nintendo games. They're perfect pick up and play, uplifting experiences. Takes me back to Friday nights when my Mom would get a pizza and let my brother and I rent a video game.

LOZ:OOT is great, but it needs a remake similar to what Metroid prime got to add camera controls to the right stick getting rid of the tank controls. OOT 3D is great, but it’s stuck on 3DS. We need one more remake to be the remake for the ages.

I can kind of agree, that wanting old games/remasters, CAN and PROBABLY do slow the Releasing of new titles/games, I never was into Mario really, and thats not what I'm talking about, here, for me/if we're going kid games/games I enjoyed as a kid, that would be, The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games, Punch Out, Star Fox 64, Zelda 64; Gaming wasn't better back then, AT ALL/I had an NES, and it looked TERRIBLE/when I was a kid, I ALWAYS/CONSTANTLY said, when is this going to look better/when I started getting hope, was when I saw, had, and played the Game Gear/that was the first time I had hope for humanity, again LOL, bad pixels/pixelation/240P/480P/screen tearing, looked terrible, I had gotten a game boy, not a game boy color, or gameboy advanced, a gameboy, before I got a Game Gear, and I remember saying this was garbage, and I just stopped playing it, the PSP and Vita, we're the first time, handhelds we're practical/worth getting, When it comes to consoles, PS1 is when we STARTED to have SOME hope, and obviously PS2, and then the PS3, was when I was actually impressed, where as now 1920x1080p and 3840x2160p, is BASICALLY the standard, now days. Granted the PS3 was 1280x720p, MOSTLY; ALSO games sucked in comparison, to games today/on console, in the 80s/90s, you could, have never had a Far cry 5/6, or a game as open, and as good looking as, GTA V, granted GTA4, on PS3, looked AMAZING, BACK IN THE DAY TOO, ESPECIALLY FOR ITS TIME; The other issues old games caused, was game mechanics that we're designed to conserve hardware power, bleeding over to modern gaming, I'm not saying there is no nostalgia there, but these practices/game mechanics we're implemented, because they had to be, things like walking through grass, and then a separate game/interface/battle begins, also turn based combat, insead of immersive real time combat/I am a little biased here though, because I prefer action RPGs/real time game combat/gameplay, but all of these things only came to be, because game developers we're limited, when it came to hardware/they couldn't get something like Far Cry 5/6 or GTAV, to render in real time, so they had to improvise; Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion, is my first Final Fantasy, then I played Final Fantasy XV/15, that game was amazing, but a little linear, at times; I will say when it comes to one thing, that makes old games better, that one thing, is the internet, and everyone basically having to access it, to play their games/the internet not being around, for gaming, was better, or people having slower internet, was BETTER, for gaming, in SOME WAYS/for one, there was no incentive, to focus on, online games, so the actual game/story/campaign, COULD MAYBE, be longer, because your focusing on the solo game/campaign/story, and not multiplayer/online, also you will get everything day one, granted DLC is nice, for A LOT of games, I'm not gonna lie; Also online gaming, with friends, is fun, especially with headsets, I'm not disputing that, but whats not fun, is when you put a game in, and it says, update needed, or only a small portion of the game, is on the disk/cartridge/memory card, or the developer decides to drop the game, unfinished, and says, we will fix it, in six months, lets just release the game, or you grab a newer game, down the road, go to play it, it tries to get that old update, and the server, for that game, is shut down, so you can't get the update, or play the game, also having to login to launchers/creating more and more accounts/having to ping servers, to load a game, is also bad, as well. When it comes to Star Wars/Star Wars Tv shows, I really liked Mandalorian and Ahsoka. I do have A LOT of movies/TV Shows, that I watch, for the same reason/feeling, your talking about, AND A LOT of the movies/TV shows, I like, A LOT of people don't like, AT ALL, and SOME of the shows I like, I am surprised I actually like them, and how many times I've watched the TV show, or movie, even newer movies, like Passengers with Chris Pratt, Ready Player One, I think We're Alone Now, Moon Fall, Twister 1 AND 2, LOL Hurricane Heist, just to name a few, of course you have classics too though, like the Sandlot and the Goonies, and people probably think its CRAZY, that I like the TV show, Vampire Diaries and The Originals, I also like ALL OF THE Stargate movies and all of the TV shows, including SGU/ESPECIALLY SGU LOL, also Star Trek Enterprise, ALL of the Startrek movies, INCLUDING the Chris Pine ones, also Continuum, the TV Show, which is an Amazing Show, I also like Grimm; We like, what we like, and things resonate with people in different ways, sometimes even depending on whats going on, at the time; I liked the movie Redone, A LOT, I also liked the 2017 Power Ranger Movie LOL, I also liked Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children, I also liked Matilda, from back in the day, speaking of Danny DeVito, I ALSO like Twins, from back in the day, just to name a few movies/TV Shows, I like, some are kind of out there, in some ways, but they resonated with me, and it kind of, is what it is; and these are some of the games I have on Switch; The Borderlands collection The BioShock collection Witcher 3 Sniper Elite 4 Red Faction Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2 The Doom Collection Skyrim Resident evil 0,1,4,5 and 6 The Devil May Cry Collection Mortal Kombat 11 The Outer Worlds No Man Sky The Dark Siders Collection; Genesis, 1,2 and 3 Dark Souls Dragon Dogma Kingdoms Of Amalur Re-Reckoning immortals Fenyx Rising Subnautica Below Zero Fire Emblem Warriors Zelda Breath of the wild Crysis The Assassin's Creed Collection/ Assassins creed 2 Assassins Creed Brotherhood Assassins Creed Revelations Assassin’s Creed 3 Remastered Assassins Creed Liberation Remastered Black Flag Rogue Luigi's Mansion 3 Dying Light World War Z Dragon Ball Xenoverse Metro 2033 The Saints Row collection: The third, IV and all DLC. Need For Speed hot pursuit remastered Fast RMX Lego City undercover Lego DC Super Villains Vampyr Monster Hunter collection God Eater 3 Ninja Gaiden Collection Destroy All Humans Ghost Busters Man Eater The Diablo Eternal Collection Hades Dead Cells Hotline Miami 1+2 Enter The Gungeon BloodStain Ritual Of The Night OddWorld Collection Rayman Legends Shantae Half Genie Hero Steamworld Dig 1+2 Cave Blazers Blasphemous Minecraft Hollow Knight Shovel Knight Treasure Trove Celeste Blue Fire Persistence One Piece: Pirate Warriors Collection Astral Chains Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana Sword Art Online Digimon Cyber sleuth Complete edition Everspace Stellar Edition Green Hell American Fugitive GTA Trilogy Star Wars The Force Unleashed Lego Star Wars Two Point Campus Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Cowabunga edition Shredder's revenge physical release,I got the UK Version imported to the US.
