Thanks for the calm explanation of the numbers. I never considered learning this before, but being a quick-calculating numbers nerd, and also a musician both by heart and school (but not by occupation), I consider this as a treasure chest ❤ And: it was warming to see how you handled the interruptions ❤️

Man, I was tired of searching for a diffusion video that actually explains how they work in deep. Finally I found It. Thanks a lot. By the way, I would like to know what are the differences between skyline, QRD, Binary etc. in terms of effectiveness, because It seems that it exists a whole lot of different types, and speaking about bandwidth, there exists winners and loosers, but I don't think it works that easy. I think that bandwidth maybe affects the diffusion coefficent, the distribution of the reflections etc.

great teaching, just at the 9:00 mark, you jumped to placeholder without explanantion of what a placeholder is, I got confused there, thank you.
@markeveretts3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Stranges! Sorry for the confusion. In the traditional decimal number 3,578...... 3 is in the thousands place.....5 is in the hundreds place, 7 is in the tens place, and 8 is in the ones place. I might have actually not used the term "placeholder" correctly technically, but that is the idea I was trying to convey. Thanks for the feedback!

if the purpose of the green glue is to increase the rigidity of the double layer of drywall, would it be interesting to insert a layer ( even relatively thin ) of closed cell extruded foam in between the 2 layers of drywall as, if I remember correctly the rigidity increses as the 4th power of the distance between the "skins" of a sandwich?
@markeveretts4 жыл бұрын
Hey Frederic. I didn't know anything about the closed cell foam. But that makes sense. Our studios have a a dense rubber membrane (about 1/8") between the two layers of drywall, and I have seen some types of rolled lead or something used in that fashion as well.

What is your process for the multi-view video which matches the audio cuts?
@markeveretts4 жыл бұрын
Hey Chris! I use Final Cut Pro X. It's actually really similar to the process for doing the audio. After I make the "Song"....I export each audio track in to FCPX so I can easily see the transient of where each of the hits are for each instrument...and then basically make a video "sample" the that I drag and drop to match the audio track. It is a little tedious because you have to do that for each instrument...but actually isn't too bad if you are doing four bar loops and stuff because once you create the four bar pattern visually...you can option drag that whole sequence visually in FCPX the same way I demonstrated the four bar loop in ProTools. Make sense?
@Chrickman14 жыл бұрын
@@markeveretts Thanks for the reply! That does make sense. Abelton makes this sort of thing fairly easy with its video support. I was curious how you did it with Pro Tools

Great work, yes need to find a glass jug :) Awesome work, would love to understand what other processing you have on various things. FYI, are the tom mics Senny MD421's or 441's?
@markeveretts5 жыл бұрын
Thanks gabo! Yeah.....the jug is a lot of fun! A plastic water cooler jug can work, but sometimes they create more noise that is difficult to get rid of. Yes, the Tom mics are 421's. From a mix standpoint, i just did a little EQ and compression on the tracks.... all the weird stuff is happening from the mics and trippy toys. Thanks for checking it out and letting me know you dug it! :)
@bowlingactually5 жыл бұрын
@@markeveretts Yes, it also (obviously) sparks my interest in trying many other things. I have a couple of weird shaped large vases that I will try and the "tube" thing is very interesting with many possibilities of what to point it to. The "distortion" pieces from amps in other rooms is difficult for me to do, but that is pretty easily done by duplicating room and ovh tracks and sending them through plugins. I've done some of this, but your video has gotten my creative juices flowing again. THANKS!

The glass ones have a high frequency ping you need to filter out, but I like that better than some of the weird cracks and unpleasant sounds that you can easily get from the plastic water jugs.

What is your cymbal setup? Especially that china on your right, it sounds amazing.
@markeveretts643810 жыл бұрын
Hi Jay! Thanks for the comment! The china is a circa 1990 K I bought new. It has an 8" A custom stacked on top of it and 16 rivets custom drilled. Also they are aluminum rivet from the hardware store, not the ones that are special for cymbals, those always seem to heavy for me. Otherwise, it's a A zildijan 20" ride from I think the 70's with a light/lamp bead thing on it to sizzle (again from the hardware store because I think the ones that are special made for cymbals are too heavy.) A 20" custom dark flat top ride, a 21" Special Dry Custom Ride, and the Hats are a 16 k EFX on top and a A custom on bottom. I stole the efx hat idea form Eric Harland. :) Thanks again for the comment!
@jetsandals901710 жыл бұрын
Mark Everetts I'm positive the one with the rivets is the Zildjian Swish Knocker
@markeveretts10 жыл бұрын
jetsandals Hi Jetsandals! The labeling is actually still on it. It says 19" K Zildjian China Boy. The swish knockers said "swish knockers" on them and were much heavier than this cymbal is. I was never a fan of those. I'd post a pic for you but KZbin doesn't allow that. :)
