Sorry for the super late comment, but I love the little arp-ish, tremolo effects you do in this video (at 0:37 and 3:01). Do you mind sharing how you went about making that sort of sound, or effect? I'm probably just inexperienced, but nothing comes to mind!
@andrewtasselmyer24365 күн бұрын
Thanks so much! It’s a super fast-paced tremolo from an Ableton device - I forget the exact chain of effects, but it can be found in the “Glitch & Wash” pack on their webstore. I have a knob on my controller mapped to the tempo so I can speed it up and slow it down as needed.

Hi Andrew, beautiful music and thanks for sharing your workflow. In my efforts to get away from the point and click workflow in Ableton, and make my music creation process more tactile and fun, your videoes has inspired me to try this out. For jamming and live performance this is great, but how do go about making finished songs for your albums? Are you exporting each individual audio track from the iPad into Ableton for rearranging, or are your songs made entirely on the iPad, and Ableton only used for mixing and mastering?
@andrewtasselmyer24368 күн бұрын
Thanks so much for listening, and for the kind words! I really appreciate it. Great question - the short answer is that I tend to record these sessions directly in Ableton as I jam/play, so I have a copy of each individual track available to work with and edit later. I often just freewheel a session for 20-30 minutes and work those longer recorded ideas into a more concise arrangement after the fact. Sometimes I will go back and re-record a part of it didn’t come out like I wanted in the improv jam. AUM and other DAWs typically allow for recording each individual track, too, so even if I’m away from the studio, I’m always able to have them on my phone or iPad and export them to the laptop later to mix, edit, chop, condense, and arrange in Ableton Live.

@@andrewtasselmyer2436 Thanks for your reply, I didn't know it was possible to save all the tracks in AUM, that's makes this workflow even more flexible!

@@andrewtasselmyer2436 There are only very few videos here on KZbin, that provide such constructive and systematic insights about how to set up and organize AUM for live performances. AUM in this regard is unique, as it allows for very individual solutions, since it is more of an open platform, rather than being ruled by paradigms that DAWS predominantly push users in. Also connecting two iOS devices (or an iOS device plus a macOS device) via a device such as the iConnect, opens up new possibilities, or can extend the workflow. There are quite a few similarities between your approach and how I work, yet, it is always good to take a closer look at how other artists operate and organize their performance and production environments, for some tips, new inspirations, and ideas. It is utterly valuable what you are doing here!

Amazing video , this is a very interesting use case, after some research the only audio interface that can do this is the Audio 4C ( and maybe the Antelope Zen Quadro) but i was wondering if you actually tired the preamps on that interface! because i read it has bad noise floor and pretty noisy in general for instrument in or xlr in.

Thanks for watching! The preamps are not that great for demanding use cases, I’ve found that there’s some noise at high gain settings. I find that I need an inline booster to use my Shure SM7B with it, for instance.

So i could just use loopy as a looper module, but still have all my already made fx for each loop/channel in ableton?
