The easiest way is to make a small centre pin that fits snug into the s picket bush. Then take a one millimeter thick aluminium plate and make a hole that fits over the centre pin. Then take a small ball pin hammer and knock the edges and the holes out. As easy as that . Nothing complicated to do just that but then Brit’s are not that clever .😂😂😂

Really interesting video- but do your channel a favour, and totally remove the incredibly annoying music, or, turn it way down, and your voice up - can barely hear you talk, and turning up the volume means the ear raping music is way higher Also, 1200 hp from an st220 seems mega ambitious - maybe someone in the comments will correct me, but 1200 seems unlikely -

Good interview, and some questions of personal interest to me there too 😎, so thank you. I now know that for my one-offs I'll stick with my 1950s Myford lathe etc., because I don't need repeatability and what I gain on machining speed I'd more than lose in programming time. If I was running a small customising business though, perhaps resto-modding customer Metros or similar where I'd need to make the same adaptor plates time and again, I'd certainly look at getting access to shared workshop space with machinery like this in as it would clearly save me time and money. You already know that you need a better microphone for next time, and perhaps a tripod (or at least camera with image stabilisation) too. You have the makings of a good interviewer though! 👍

The camera does have image stabilisation but I don't think it can account for drunkenness 🤣 You're welcome, glad you got some of your questions answered. Also, I don't think it would fit in the shed 🤣 Thanks 🙂

There are a few hurdles to overcome first (like I don't have a CNC mill to give you) but they're just details, and I'm already looking forward to watching my restomod being built on your channel (so hurry up with that 6R4, please...). My advice throw that die away. Die with ribs - BIG NO, (applying heat) welding tube/pipe to die while bending - BIG NO. Design new die with clamp. If you insist to make it DIY here are some links how to, also some people stack number of round plates of different diameter to form round profile. Depending on thickness you might get away without filing afterwards, I'd suggest 2mm plates and some finishing with file. kzbin.info/www/bejne/epa8o2qgjNSXq5Y kzbin.info/www/bejne/rYexpYdjftx2la8

I really enjoy your honesty in all these videos, but without you showing and explaining mistakes we'd never know, and wouldn't learn as much either. My big takeaways from this episode are: - bending roll cage tubing is not easy (but that's a good thing if you consider its intended application); - building a tribute car like your 6R4 is not a trivial exercise, especially if you don't have the kind of workshop tooling that we see on the big US TV custom programmes (with the result that I enjoy your videos more, because I can better relate to them). Keep up the good work!

check the circuit breaker is the right amps for your plasma cutter, and you are running 230 volts, the thicker metal you cut, the more amps the plasma cutter pulls, that sounds like the reason you keep popping the fuse, hope this helps.

It's good to see you back again. I've got no issue with either lighting or lack of scripting because I'm more interested in the automotive engineering content than your media skills 😂 I'm curious as to how you cut the plates. Did you hand cut them with a plasma, or did you use your computer controlled cutter that we saw in previous episodes? For those of us at a slightly more basic level of fabrication skill, an episode on how to set a MIG welder up correctly and use it properly would be interesting too 😆

Couple of things I need to note for you guys. This is not my best video, it was rushed and is lower than the standard I usually set myself. That standard may not be very high but it's a standard 😂 Anyway, I usually script the videos and read from that during editing/production, I didn't have time for that this time around and it definitely shows. I'd had a long day at work, travelling to London and back the same day and my brain was running on fumes so I made a few errors in my dialogue. I'll address these properly in the next video, which will have the correct amount of time spent on it. Firstly, my comment about Force = mass x area was incorrect, it's "pressure = force / area". I'll do some animations for the next video when I'm discussing the roll cage. The other thing is lighting, it's shockingly bad inside the car so I'll get a ring light or something similar that I can hang in the car for better lighting. I also didn't explain the "tacking in" properly, the boxes can be removed to sort the rust areas before final welding so that full strength and therefore, safety is 100%. That said, I hope you enjoy watching and look out for the next one.
@modelmania825

Amazing number of parameters that you have to cope with there, it's no wonder it didn't work right first time. And talk about bootstrapping: I love the way you build a bench off-camera, to support the CNC plasma cutter that you design and build from scratch, all so you can make a pipe-bender, before eventually returning to Project 6R4. You really are a clever bloke, and great at explaining simply too (which is the mark of somebody who truly knows their onions).

Might save you some time....Throw the Ford dmf in the bin, for a single plate the TTV 1188 flywheel and an Audi 240mm plate (CG motorsport can make up an uprated plate/paddle etc) fits nicely onto the gearbox (46mm from crank face to clutch disc face), standard st220 cover fits/works ok but once you turbo it, it'll not hold the power, use a Focus rs/st cover. Much over around 550bhp and any single plate/cover just can't hold it any way. Make a spacer to extend the clutch release bearing and a spigot bearing extension (the gearbox input shaft won't reach into the crank). The ttv ring gear is the same diameter/offset, so now you've already taken a bit out of the Audi 01E bell housing it'll all fit nicely 👍

That great, thanks for the info. I've dealt with CG before and will use them again, always great products and service. I was planning on binning the stock DMF so just used it for mock up. What did you use to make the slave spacer? Guessing something tough like tool steel? My adapter plate is 12.7mm thick, is it worth surfacing it down to 10mm? What thickness did you use? I need a CNC mill 🤣 thanks for the TTV part number, that makes searching a lot easier. We're gonna have to meet up at some point, maybe do a Collab video or something? 🙂

Yes, i used a piece of high carbon steel, then hardened it, leave a lip so it's a snug fit onto/over the thrust bearing and some 648 loctite. My adaptor plate is indeed 10mm thick, never had an issue with it. Quick look at my sketches/notes when doing mine and the input shaft/spigot bearing extension is 48mm long overall and obviously needs to be a tight fit in the end of the 35mm crank recess, needle bearing i used was 15x21x12.
