Hi, Jason. I sat in with a husband/wife couple at Liquid Lounge in Ashland, OR Friday. We played "Margarativille", and the crowd just loved it. We did a bunch of '60s-'70s hits like Joni Mitchell, Linda Ronstadt, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, etc. People love those songs. I proposed we learn "Come Monday" for our next gig.
@JCountryBass4 күн бұрын
That's wonderful! Sounds like a great set. I bet that was a lot of fun. Come Monday is another crowd pleaser. I've played it with my band quite a bit this past summer.

I know the following may be an old song, but if you like doing country music basslines, how about Bob Moore's bassline on "Crazy" by Patsy Cline. Although, I think that bassline was an upright bass, not sure how well an upright bass translates to an electric bass.
@JCountryBass7 күн бұрын
That's a classic that I will definitely try to get to before long. For songs that were recorded with an upright, sometimes I will use a Nordimute on my electric bass to try and emulate the sound somewhat.

Love the channel! I've been thrown into bass because my friends wanted to start a country band and these lessons are saving my life. I would really love to hear some Cross Canadian ragweed songs, specifically the song 17. I know its kind of more local and regional country music but Jeremy Plato's fills are eluding me on that one and I think a video on it would be very educational. Plato likes those 5 and 6 string basses though

@JCountryBass20 күн бұрын
@@msbritain ☺I still get nervous at gigs sometimes too. If I could go back in time and give myself some advice it would be this: Chord changes and rhythm are most important. Don't worry so much about memorizing each note in the tab. I would start by learning to play along to the song without looking at tab and just hitting the root note of each chord. This will help you memorize the form and have the basics to fall back on. Once you do that, you can go back to the tab for ideas on how to embellish a little more.
