Even though the recording was done by such a simple equipment, the sound is magnificent.

This first piece, Jhninjit Manjh is absolutely sublime! The subtlety of notes and the mood they create is out of this world. I marvel at his skill and how he is able to create emotions and mood that just cannot be put into words. His music alone is the answer!

Stephen This recital reminds me of the 1971 concert of Pt Ravi Shankar ji, which used to listen to, say 5-10 daily in 1980-81-82. I find lots of similarity. But Guru would always remain Guru. Keep it up and post more such concerts on KZbin. Thx

Salam and Namaskaram Stephen I am amazed you played Abhogi so dynamically, it's not an easy raaga perhaps and the sitar tone is just great, wonderful, the overall performance is outwardly and Liberating, Great Sangat by Swapan chaudhri j, Bless you ❤

That would love to see some of your poetry perhaps inspired by this performance!❤
Hi, Stephen ji, just gone through this. Liked it very much. I was simply back to memories of 1974- 77 when you were at Benaras and learning under Pt. Lalmani Mishra ji. I still remember you gave us a copy of my father's(Pt. Balwant Rai Bhatt) Kamod & Bahar. This presentation is very much fulfilling the thurst.🙏🙏🙏

After more than 50 years of listening to Hindustani classical music I can appreciate the skill and knowledge of many musicians. But nowadays I rarely enjoy renditions of raga as I used to. I enjoyed this performance. Thank you.

Exquisitely performed Shri Raag, Steven! Do you have any idea why some raags are often associated with a particular taal? Shri and Abhogi in particular seem most often sung and played in Jhaptaal.
@sslawek11 ай бұрын
I think it might be D.V. Paluskar's famous LP recording of Shree in jhaptal that has led to several performances of that raga in jhaptal. However, I know gats in tin-tala for Shree and Abhogi, and gats in jhaptal and rupak for Abhogi.

I rarely come across to such a traditional way of Sitar Performance these days and remember my days at Music Deptt Banaras Hindu University Varanasi India when Pt Ishwarlalji sir accompanied us in the classroom as well as at concerts at BHU Really that was a blissful period having Great Teachers Accompanists and Artists occasionally visiting the faculty My Congratulations and Regards to my GuruBhai Dr Slawek 🎉🙏
