Stephen Slawek, sitar with Shyam Kane, tabla | Raga Multani

This is a recording of the first concert I performed after joining the faculty of the then Department of Music at the University of Texas at Austin. The concert took place in the spring of 1985. I played a lengthy exposition of Raga Multani, full alap and jor followed by vilambit and drut gats in tin-tala. I shared the evening with Kathak dancer Anjani Ambegaokar, who performed the second half of the concert. Shyam Kane, an early disciple of Ustad Zakir Hussain, accompanied on tabla.
