I still think it's funny that my introduction to Stereolab was Transient Random-Noise Bursts and the Jenny Audioline EP - which were in the tossed freebie promos bin at my college radio station, which was deep into the Seattle sound at the time.

One of those bands I had to risk buying the CD without ever hearing but I read about them so much I had to know. And was blown away.

In 2000 I lived in Chicago. I went there to get my life together.(it was a while before that happened). But every day I’d take the train to my treatment program and would listen to this album over and over. This song in particular. It was so cathartic. And now whenever I hear it, I am immediately brought back to those moments. On the train. In deep thought. Thanks Stereolab.

Life on Earth is a bloody hazardous affair As in the city, the republic was collapsing away I think the brilliant crust's hiding sad realities to come And there's a decisive battle that we all had that we lost I don't care if the fascists have to win I don't care, democracy's being fucked I don't care, socialism's full of sin The only truth you miss is being sucked But what is exciting's the challenge and stimulation That the tensions help keep the creative nerve so taut The absence of profounder transformation in the country Make their hopes turn sour, feelings of let down in irony Obviously once more, it could be called treachery Rappel à l'ordre, oh, don't you get too revolutionary I don't care if the fascists have to win I don't care, democracy's being fucked I don't care, socialism's full of sin The only truth you miss is being sucked But what is exciting's the challenge and stimulation That the tensions help keep the creative nerve so taut Life on Earth is a bloody hazardous affair Impressive malleability of human identity The horrors of the war were to be repeated anyway It was like taking candy from a baby

I firmly believe, Stereolab is incapable of making any music that is anything less than virtual perfection. This was a magnificent collab!
