How many times have Stereolab just stopped a song in mid flow and started playing an entirely different melody? Love them for that.

I agree. I wish they would make a new album but it was weird without Mary Hansen's vocals on later albums.

@@clementeabyss8953 It's definitely underrated. Just like Margerine Eclipse. I think a lot of people like myself were still kind of shocked because of Mary's death. I just now started to appreciate those albums. Dots and Loops, The First of the microbe hunters, and Cobra and Phases are my personal favorites. I'm actually not a fan of their earlier work because they kinda all sound the same.

@@roncolem4558 I loved early Stereolab. I took a hiatus from them as I was so upset about Mary's death and couldn'y listen without bursting into tears. Even now, watching her performances bring me close to tears.

@@ResidentMich Mary is what my friends and i refer to as" the element" that great bands have. They may not write songs or be the main instrumentalists but for some reason their" presence " brings out the best in the other members. When they're no longer there, it's hard to fill in that" ghost in the gap". Even Letitia's solo work seems to be missing" something".

There was nothing like seeing them live with Mary in the 1990's. I still regret not going up and talking to Mary at my first show when she gave me a very inviting, gorgeous smile. I chickened out 15 feet away from her, lol. I was so smitten with her and she could apparently tell, hahaha. Guess I was 22 years old. My 1st show was on the Dots & Loops US tour. 2nd show Cobra Phases. 3rd & 4th Margerine Eclipse & Sound Dust. They loved the intimacy and sound of The Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach (Encinitas), San Diego. Saw many more but those first 4 shows were revelatory. Nothing compares, especially if you were into the same Brazilian and obscure library records & soundtracks. Saw Monade there too. Last time was House of Blues with Sam Prekop & Archer Prewitt (of The Sea & Cake) open. There finally coming back to San Diego!!!! Mary is obviously in heaven or on a light ship in a higher dimension now.
