Hello girls... With this hot...a beer is the worst thing you can drink.... Even if at first it is refreshing, then even the little alcohol it has after makes you sweat unbearably.... So you prefer something that doesn't have alcohol at all.. Even a beer without alcohol.. And hats ... especially ones that allow the air to pass through .. Yup, first thing that came to my mind: "oh no they are drinking alcohol with that heat!" Alcohol dehydrates you and accelerates heat stroke. Cold water is the best thing to drink when you are feeling hot or are sweating under the sun, and lots of it. Cold/cool water brings your body temperature back down and re-hydrates you. Remember, alcohol de-hydrates you. Next time bring a thermos with cold water with you (in a backpack or large purse).

That's why I only go to Greece in September-October since 2016. In 2015 I was there in July and it hit 41 in Athens. We were dying walking around Plaka and other parts of the city's center When we got to Rome it was 43-44, but they had all the fire hydrants running in the entire city and people/tourists were lining up to fill up their bottles, especially near all the historical sites that get visited the most. I went through 2 x 1.5L bottles by myself and my wife through at least 2 x 1L bottles in 3 hours that we walked around the first day, and I am glad we left the hotel with our own bottles of water. We would not have seen Rome by foot if they did not have running water everywhere available to the public every few blocks from public faucets and fire hydrants. They should do that in Athens too and actually in every city in the world to help out the people during a heat wave, especially if a good part of the city's revenue comes from tourism.

Yes, those temperatures were in Karpathos ( maybe in 1990? ) inside the bank in the afternoon and in Hania, Crete in 2009 when we saw the temperature from the thermometer 🌡in our hotel. 🥵🥵🥵 many local karpathians even slept on the beach then, there is not much shadow and forest in Karpathos...... 😫😩

@@merjahyttinen9253 There aren't really any forests anywhere unless you are in the mainland, but Crete is the only island with real forests, and decent tree cover. Unfortunately those are not near beaches or hotels in Crete 🙂 It's funny you mentioned Hania. We went to Hania first in 2015 (in July) and the weather was not bad in the low-mid 30's. From there we flew to Rome (from Iraklion) and that's when the heat wave had arrived, and stuck around well after we got back to my paternal home in Athens. After 2 days in Athens we flew to Santorini which was about 2 deg. cooler but still hot and nearly 40. So the only place we really got to enjoy and stay out much longer was Crete. Last year Greece the first half of October we were there was amazing! 26-28 deg. (around 80-82 Fahrenheit) everywhere we went,, and still war enough to swim at all the beaches (!) without the big crowds.. but still a good amount of people & tourists in Naxos and Paxos, just not what it's like in July-August. It was very pleasant and just perfectly cool in the evening with no need for a jacket.

​​​​​​​​​​​@@vtecharrys.6981 yes very true,👍 those temperatures happened first in Karpathos, when I spent there the whole summer, it was maybe year 1987 -1991 and the heat wave was stucked in Czech Rebublic and came all over in Greece for a long time in August. Local people were in the sea 🌊and in the shadow🌑 daytime and slept on the beach nighttime, cause there were no air conditions left on the island. 😫 Many greek people died that year and hospitals were full of people. In Hania it was also August probably year 2009 ?! and hot weather had been in Crete for long and even the drinking water was not allowed to drink.😩 they suggested it was only for washing.... we saw the temperature from the thermometer outside in the window in the morning in our hotel. I have spent time many years in Crete since year 1980, most of the time was ok, but July and August are too hot . Once I went there in the beginning of April , so when July and August came, I was already used to the hot weather and hot temperatures weren't too much for me, for tourists of my own country it was really too hot as they said to me 🥵

lol, girls you didn't even think to sit in a store inside with air condition. A beer won't help if you are still outside. It's definitely air condition weather, you only stay outside as long as you absolutely have to. I wouldn't even get the metro back,i would order an uber taxi and ask the driver to put the air condition full blast

Why? In Greece hot weather comes with very low humidity, unlike central and northern Europe. Temperatures as high as 39oC or more with 20-25% of humidity is something everyone can easily deal with, for humidity is the key factor into dealing with hot weather. I mean the Greeks dont drop down like mosquitos because of the hot weather. They instead enjoy the sea far more under these conditions. Also on the coastal areas and much more on the islands the temperature is about 5oC lower.
