I like this idea in theory, but I don’t want the job after I’ve been rejected. If I wasn’t their first pick then it feels like they settled for me.
@andylacivitaКүн бұрын
You assume they’re hiring you for the role they didn’t give you. You’re playing chess not checkers. The point isn’t just to try to get the job you were rejected from, but to plant the seeds in their mind, you would be a great long-term employee in their company in some role. Many people who use this tactic are hired into the organization in a different capacity. Keep that in mind and keep your options open!

Hi Andy!, Great session. It's too good :) Just wanted to know, as an early professional (work-ex: 1 yr 5 mths), where can I put my internship experience (Interned at JPMorgan Chase for 5 mths, so want the recruiter to know that!)? Thank you so much for creating this beautiful channel!

Underneath your professional experience section create another section called Internship and Other Experience and put them there!

Hi Andy, Kudos to you for making such an insightful session! Is so fresh that it doesn't seem to be 7 yr old :) I'm an inexperienced insurance underwriter (work-ex: 1yr 5 mths at TATA AIG (part of Fortune India 500)), and additionally had interned for 5 mths at JPMorgan Chase. Can you pls advise me whether or not to aggregate my internship achievements (mostly data analysis related) along with my full-time work-experience under my career profile? Thanks Andy!

"I was giving you really excellent performance, then you shoved a crappy project down my throat and sat on top of me for 2 months demanding every day that it be done instantaneously. By the way, you gave me no direction other than 'build whatever you think is best' then completely changed your mind a month into that. And I have to have your LGBTQ~ whatever gay pride month crap thrown in my face on your 'inclusion and diversity' Teams channel constantly" FU I'M DONE! That's kind of what I am thinking about going with.

I don't know why, but trying to use this journal gives me a lot of anxiety, self-doubt, and writer's block. I'm in a near-entry-level role that has a lot of repetitive work too which doesn't help. So many categories, I can't think of anything to put down.

If ever you want to change career, or just acquire a new hobby - please consider singing lessons. You've got such a beautiful, bright tenor voice with lots of projection. I know in my early career jobs one thing I wish I knew was to remove my retirement funds. Not much was saved, but it was a shame that all that went missing .. no one ever told me and so I just did not know :(

I think these are all important things to build your career. I will also say from experience is that many leaders or bosses just say keep doing your job well and you'll advance. Many companies talk about promowithin but really aren't interested in you leaving the position you're already doing well. Why lose the guy that's killing it in his position...just hire from outside.
