Good prop review Matt! I have a 701 with a 912 UL. No slats, vg's on Wings and Elevator. 200' Take off roll. 85mph @ 5200 rpm 68" 3 blade Warp pitched at 11 degrees. What was your 701 pitch on the Warp?

I think that's right around where I was with it too on the 701. I think it's at 12° on the Fox which seems to working out perfectly.

That looked like a blast; density altitude about -3000! The Apollo Fox looks like a nice bird, how's it compare w/ the 701?
@mmatt5 күн бұрын
It doesn't get off the ground as quickly as the 701 and the landing roll is a bit longer too but it's still plenty STOL enough for the places I like to land now that it has VGs installed. It cruises about 20mph faster than the 701 and I find it a bit more comfortable to sit in. The visibility isn't quite as good and the cockpit feels a little smaller due to a lack of the big bubble doors that the 701 has. It has dual control sticks instead of one center stick and the brakes are a hand lever instead of differential toe brakes.

It takes a few weeks to get used to it but then when spring comes, 40°F degrees feels like summer! I have the Warp Drive prop, not the eProp. Although I'd love to try one someday. Just gotta save up a bunch of pennies first! The Warp Drive is currently working great though and I love how rugged it is which I'm sure will prove useful in the summer when I'm off-roading. :-)

Would a slightly steeper front fork angle make it turn a little quicker? I imagine that would decrease performance in off road landings as a downside though. I think it would also be cool if you could get a mic that picks up engine noise to put over the wind noise when there's no talking. Or even just collect some B-roll audio once and use it regularly.
@mmatt10 күн бұрын
@@liamcushing1092I'm still trying to figure out a way to get some good engine noise instead of the wind. Aside from planting a camera or mic inside the cowling, I'm not sure how I'm going to do it though. Lol I'd rather deal with a big turning radius than a weakened nose fork. Lol I can always get out and turn the plane by hand if I have to. I have another idea that I'm working on for this too. We'll see if it pans out. :)

Cant go wrong with Warp Drive, ive got a 2-blade ivoprop on mine now but keep thinking a 3-blade warp would be better especially since its a push because of all the dust and rocks that get kicked up. The only unknowns i have is what will the outcome be mounting a 3-blade to a 3:1 ratio gearbox, i know its a bad ratio to work with. Thanks for the ride Matt!!

Do you know of or does the bore buddy people have any adapters for using a folding stock adapter with that extra gap that the normal bolt plug takes up for the AR 223 bolt?
@Cavalier-lp8tr11 күн бұрын
Did you ever re-pitch the Sensenich to see if that would've worked?
@mmatt11 күн бұрын
@@Cavalier-lp8tr I did. It made an improvement for sure but not enough for me to be happy with it. When I first started flying the Fox, the take-off rpm was around 5150 and it would get off the ground in about 400 feet. I took a degree out of it which got it to 5350 (I was going for 5400 but figured it was close enough) and take-offs improved to a little under 300 feet. Better, but I really wanted sub-200 foot take-off rolls to give me a large margin of error for the 500 foot strips that I want to get in and out of and it looks like the Warp Drive has given me that.

Every serious preppershould have this gun in his collection....even if he already has both a 22 and a shot gun separately. This is truly the best bug out gun. It may not be the most lethal for self defense....but you can probably carry this gun on your back while you carry a more lethal rifle in your hands.
@Rio_Seco12 күн бұрын
I love Warp Drive, mine pushed incredibly hard on my Chinook. They are the AK47 of propellers. Not as fancy as the various high dollar European props, but they get the job done at a reasonable price point with extreme reliability and service life. Had a buddy who accidently put his pliers through his. That prop is still flying. Very tough.
@mmatt12 күн бұрын
Crazy!
@richardturner627812 күн бұрын
Hey Matt, if you had to choose between the 701 and the Apollo Fox, which would you choose? Assuming price was the same. Obviously the Fox is faster in cruise. Keep us informed on the performance of the E-prop on the Zenith also. I've noticed that it sure is gaining quite a reputation in the light sport STOL community here in the states. From what I understand they are insanely smooth and perform just as good if not better on every installation. It's crazy to think that little thin toothpick looking propeller can improve climb and cruise in most applications. Anyway, thanks for sharing and looking forward to the next video!
@mmatt12 күн бұрын
That's a really hard choice to make. The 701 has all-metal construction which is better if you have to leave the plane tied down outside and I find it has a bit better visibility too. The Fox, as you mentioned, is faster and with VGs, has almost the same slow flight capabilities. It also has folding wings as standard equipment. I think it would really come down to personal preference and you you really couldn't go wrong with either I don't think. I agree with you on those eProps, what a crazy looking prop that produces some pretty incredible results. The 701 picked up almost 10 mph with it with no loss in climb performance. I'd love to get one for the Fox one day.

I am very happy with the 2 blade Warp Drive on my Rans S6 with the 912 UL. I have considered getting an IVO with electric pitch control but Im not convinced the juice is worth the squeez on that.
@mmatt12 күн бұрын
The speed range on the S6 doesn't really warrant an in-flight adjustable pitch prop I don't think. I agree with you that you probably wouldn't see much difference. I love the Rans Coyote, nice birds. :-)

firing 556 ammo afterwards without cleaning the barrel first only inbeds any lead from the 22 rimfire ammo and will affect long term accuracy; dumb move on your part. copper coated high velocity ammo works best AND cleaner in the long run. CCI Minimags, Stingers or Winchester HV for the win.

Ive had one for over a decade, tens of thousands of rounds have gone through it flawlessly, its taken it's fair share of use and abuse in extreme conditions and no problems. Easy to clean and maintain. Not a single broken part yet. 10/10 recommend. Fot the price, its a steal.
