What you call selection point type focus at 6:49 is actually the auto follow. First select with the box something in the picure. If you push ok it will follow the selected object in the picture. It is great for filming a moving object which is coming towards you or is moving through the picture.

I must have a go at this. I have a D7000 which I bought several years ago. It was my only DSLR for ages until I had an opportunity to buy a D810 with just over 2000 shutter actuations and in pristine condition. Must have been a back-up camera for a professional using another main camera. I still use the D7000 as it is quite an extraordinary camera. Great video by the way!

I am also using this lens on my Nikon d7000 body and didn’t find it to be very sharp. Do you have your AF fine tune on, and if so what setting did you use?

@melmel7506 Hi Mel Mel. Sorry for the delay in responding to your message. Yes I use AF fine tune for all my lenses on the Nikon D7000 especially for this lens. I believe with every camera sensor the adjustment is different, but mine is a value of -5. If you try this value with your lens on your camera and it doesn't work, I have a video on how to adjust AF Fine Tune accordingly on my channel using the Nikon D7000. Thank you for watching! When using Live View on my D7000, I'm able to change the aperture. I'm shooting with a Nikkor 16-85mm 1:3.5-5.6 G ED DX.
@Kris_World
@Kris_World 23 күн бұрын
@joefitzy Yes this is true when you use Aperture priority. Then numbers will change, but for me it won't show a live change. You have to turn live view on and off to see the change or take a picture to see the live change for an aperture setting. If you would like to see a live change though and if your lens does have a Aperture ring on it then you can go into the pencil icon/f-controls/customize command dials/aperture settings/Aperture ring. With this set you can actually use your aperture ring with you camera manually and then you will be able to see a live presentation of your lens changing aperture on live view. To reverse the process just change Aperture ring to (Sub Command dial) Hope this helps. Thank you for watching! Kris

Well, true to your word, you did a review on this lens. I would say that this lens works better on a dslr as opposed to a slr. I had this lens back in the day, and liked it, but it looks sharper on a digital camera. Have you thought about changing the focusing screen to a split prism one? I am interested in doing this to this camera and make it a manual lens camera. Thank you for a nice through review.
@Kris_World
@Kris_World Ай бұрын
@V8rgr8 Yes indeed. I agree! I feel when you use it on a dslr, it makes it a very capable lens. Even if it is just a manual focus lens. Honestly I did not know that you can change the focusing screen on this camera to a split prism one. That's very interesting. I'll have to look that up and see how its done. That sounds like it would be cool camera especially with a split prism. You would have the best of both worlds. Digital and manual focus only. You are welcome! I happy you enjoyed it. Great color! But not good if want to crop your photos. Photos will turn fuzzy
@Kris_World
@Kris_World Ай бұрын
@Newrivergraphics872 Yes the Nikon D700 has really amazing color. Believe it or not the Nikon D700 isn't too bad when cropping in, but I don't recommend over cropping. I would defiantly try to crop with your viewfinder before taking the picture if possible when using this camera so you can make use of the Full Frame sensor. The reason that the image isn't too bad when you crop a photo from the Nikon D700, is because it is has a bigger sensor which therefore allows more light to be absorbed in each pixel, which in turn creates less noise in the image and then the image should be cleaner looking compared to a crop sensor. Any noise and of course lack of resolution defiantly can create a blurry image even for this camera, but it does a pretty good job at keeping it tac sharp. I really appreciate the feedback and thank you for watching! Kris

Hi, is possible to remove background? If yes, could explain how it can get?
@Kris_World
@Kris_World Ай бұрын
@MrDestroide Hi! Unfortunately NX studio is mostly just a raw editor and really isn't meant for destructive editing. When making edits to an image using NX it creates a sub file as an overlay to show the changes that were made within the program. I would say if you want to remove a background you can use Canva, or a paid subscription of Photoshop. I know there are other free options out there that are open source like GIMP but I am not sure how well it will perform at removing a background. Thank you for watching! I hope this helps. Kris

@Kris_World
@Kris_World Ай бұрын
@michalaelton961 Hi! You are very welcome!! So if your lens already is an AI-S Lens you don't need an adapter the lens comes with it built on. It fits the F mount perfectly and will not ruin your camera. If you have an older lens that is a non-Ai lens then you will need an adapter because it is not compatible by itself. Ai, and Ai-S lenses can be used as long as you have an aperture ring indicator on your camera. The Nikon D7000 has one. I hope the helps and thank you for watching for my video. If you have any more questions please let me know. 😊 Kris

I just purchased a d200 from a fellow Nikon user on offer-up in so-cal. He listed it for 75$ with a 15,500 shutter count and as close as flawless as you could possibly get. I was really surprised to know that he had the listing up for several weeks before i inquired. I'm so glad i did though, it is an absolutely amazing camera. Once i met him in person, he actually let me have it for $50! He was happy it was going to someone who was going to use it. We had talked photography for a good couple minutes so he could tell that it was not going to just sit in the closet forever. Now i have my d70s that i removed the hot mirror to view full spectrum and the d200 for regular visible light. The 2 CCD powerhouse combo is really fun, and incredibly affordable!

And the love came back and i started to catch flashbacks of when my grandfather gave me his 1976 F2 that he bought to celebrate the year of my birth. It made me realize how much i need to learn. I'm sure when you use the different meters it will defiantly give your photography a new edge. I don't think many people understand how the metering system works on a dslr, when you change it from Matrix to Spot to Center weight. That's why I wanted to make this video. Food can be such a fun thing to take a picture of especially if you are using it for stock photography or even a menu. I have never done it myself, but find food photography fascinating. Especially if its for a restaurant or a commercial. I really believe that you can defiantly put your two passions Enriquea together, by putting your culinary talent into another art form as well. Photograph the spices the motion of putting everything together to the completed product. If you have the space to do so, use it to express your creative masterpiece. But when you do it, do it with heart and show the world what you can do. Make it so you can taste what's in your photograph. While then enjoying a delectable meal that you just created. There is nothing like holding a beautiful piece of gear to can tell a beautiful story. Thank you for sharing that about grandfather and F2. That is so inspiring. I believe that is what truly gave you the passion for photography and will help you use your D5000. I am still learning till this day and I feel that as long as I am inspired by others photography I will always want to learn how to keep on working on myself to master this beautiful method to preserve our memories. So yes there is a lot to learn but its the process of learning and understanding how your camera works that will give you your own style and be able to inspire others with your love for your craft. @chefenriqueavargas3326 Wow thank you so much, and I am so happy I can answer all of your questions that you have. If I had the choice I would defiantly choose a lens that had a fast aperture, and I would probably want it to be a zoom as well as it being a wide angle, because as far as I can tell, using it for lights at night works the best with this filter. So I would say a 28-70 f/2.8 would be awesome to use with this filter. Its a more expensive lens but it would defiantly be a good match. The lens that I used in this video was a 28-105mm f/3.5-5.6 D. It is a little more than 100 bucks and is an old film lens with Macro mode. It is one of my all time favorite lenses and is so useful for so many scenarios. It doesn't have VR, but raise your ISO and use spot metering mode and you can use this lens handheld at night like I did. It is a very sturdy, well built lens. I think you could use it in an HDR type of workflow. Not using the camera HDR but doing it manually and entering the shots as layers in photoshop that way you could control the blend mode and opacity. @chefenriqueavargas3326 That's awesome! You will be pleased once you receive it in the mail! It is a great camera. The differences that I can see between the Nikon D300s and the Nikon D5000 is that the D5000 has an articulating screen and it has a slightly higher color depth and slightly higher dynamic range. But on the Nikon D300s the viewfinder magnification is a bit larger, giving it 100 percent coverage vs 95% it also has 51 focus points vs 11, shoots 7fps vs 4fps, and will give you 950 shots per battery charge vs 510 and it has environmental sealing where the d5000 does not. So all in all I would defiantly say you made an excellent choice by picking the D300s. It is upgrade for sure in many ways. Congrats on your purchase of a great Nikon Dslr. I hope you enjoy it when you get it. If you have anymore questions about it let me know. Take care! Kris

@johnraymond6926 Hi John, I looked up the firmware update and saw the same thing. I believe as long as you can double click on the dmg file and mount it, the update should work the same. As long as it can open the file and the the instructions can be used from Nikon's website everything should work out. It looks like Nikon updated the OSX version when the firmware came out and hadn't changed anything since. It is for the distortion control data Version 2 within the camera and will fix barrel and pin cushion distortion for a large assortment of lenses. Here is Nikon's description of the update: Distortion Control Data Loaded into compatible cameras, distortion control data reduce barrel and pincushion distortion when photographs are taken or edited. I myself have A: 1.01 B: 1.01 L: 1.02 My camera works pretty well for me, and don't really find the need for an update myself. I hope this is helpful. Let me know if you have anymore questions. Thank you so much for watching! Kris

Both really good starter cameras, but even now in 2024, the D90 still produces stunning looking pics, as does the D7000. Love my old D90, it seems to have a quality about the look of the images which have a look of their own - namely beautiful!

Yes they are. I completely agree. I love both cameras as well and agree that the look of the images do indeed have a look of their own. Thank you so much for watching! Kris

@brianmcgrevey9832 You're welcome! Yes it was at first confusing for me and really didn't understand it, but saw what it could do in low light, dark situations, or situations where you will need to use a different kind of metering, and it really makes a difference. Thank you so much for your feedback! Thank you for watching! Kris

I think the review would be more useful on a full frame such as the D750.

I suggest doing FX lens tests on FX sensor cameras.

Hey nice review, like this old DSLRs also very much. The fix of the broken aperture control unit, the typical error on this model, is not too difficult to manage. So don't worry too much about another error message in the future. Just take an hour to disassemble the camera, glue these contacts on the plastic wheel with epoxy and you're done. 🙂
