I do not have the D300s but I do have 7 D300 cameras. To say the D300 is my favorite camera would be an understatement. The image quality, as you have demonstrated, is exquisite. I got my first one about 2 years ago and knew that I had to get my hands on more because they just don't make cameras like this any more. There are too many reasons why the D300 / D300s are unique in their output. The only other camera that I feel surpasses it in output is the D700 (the big brother of the D300/D300s). I don't say this lightly as I have compared the D300 to the D7000, the D7100 and the D600. The D300/D300s has to be the best bargain professional camera body out on the used market. A low shutter count D300 can be had from reputable retailors for $100 to $150. If I find one out there with a shutter count less than 2000, I get it. So what if it only has 12MP. I prefer the images I get from the D300 at 12MP compared to the 24MP ones I get from the D7100 or the D600. A little side note here: you can get an SD to CF card on Amazon for $12 which makes file transfers so much easier but the D300 D300s and D700 can only take cards up to 32GB. I am grateful to all those high MP junkies and "got to have the newest thing" fanatics who are selling off their older gear so that I can scoop that gear up for pennies on the dollar. Imagine getting a professional camera, that sold for close to $2000 new for $125. Thanks for the video show casing what the D300 / D300s can do.

@dominicwroblewski5832 Wow that is a good idea to have back-up cameras on hand like that. Especially that camera because it is a fantastic camera. Thank you so much, for saying that about my photos. I really appreciate it! I unfortunately haven't been able to get my hands on a D700. Maybe one day before I can't get one. I have heard the same thing about that camera. I wanted to get one, and they were on the used market for a pretty good deal but then inflation hit and cameras went way up in price. Well that camera did anyway. I got one of those CF to SD adapters for myself and it works perfectly. Thank you for the recommendation though. Yes the high MP junkies' are basically just throwing away their old gear for pennies and don't even realize how valuable these cameras still are. Its sad. But so many want the new tech in photography. For me I am going backwards lol. I want to play with film and get it developed. Just challenge myself a little. I feel that with all the new tech photography is not challenging enough. We take everything for grated now when at one point in time you couldn't even see the image you took a picture of because it wasn't developed. But that is part of the reward and the challenge. If you didn't do well, work on doing better. If you got one shot out of the whole roll of film you did something right. But the challenge made you a better photographer. I think that is why I like the older cameras because they pose a challenge to help you develop into a better photographer as time goes on. The D300/300s has that. No not every shot is going to be perfect but you learn from your mistakes and you work on your technique. That's what makes photography fun. Without the challenge, creating and adjusting for the composition just isn't as worth while. Photography is an art form and the more involved you are in taking the picture the more it is from your heart. That's how I feel. You're welcome, and thank you for watching my video Dominic, I really appreciate it!

@@Kris_World thanks man. I only capture photos and dont shoot videos, that's why i consider this camera. More so, it only uses AF-S lenses iirc, so it's on the cheaper side. I've borrowed some dslrs before and i am comfortable in handling many cameras, in fact i use Sony a6600 because im a photographer in my office. But i've never had my own camera beside my phone where i learn most of my skills. The reasons why i consider this camera over something more recent like d3500 or d5600 is because i like a photography oriented camera, not hybrid or even those which leans toward vloggings. Even if it's old, i can see this camera still packs a lot of punch, and i happened to find several stores that offer used 300s in good conditions. Plus this is an old camera, i like the vintage aura this camera gives. Thanks for the video man, this is the most useful i have came across

After 11 years of using my Nikon D300 (bought used in 2013) I am thinking of switching to mirrorless. D300 still working great with a Sigma 50 - 150 mm f 2.8. But low light or higher ISO than 1600 can't compete anymore in 2024.

Hello mate. The only thing missing on my D300s is a 35mm prime. I would also love the 18 - 200 maybe even the 300mm, but that's another story 😅. I have decided, never, ever, again, to take photos of thunderstorms during the day. I was on my terrace (yes, we have our own terrace, don't you know 😋) on Tuesday with a thunderstorm kicking off. To reduce the lag time between shots: No NR No ADR 1 flash drive RAW images only And probably a few other things to. I had an 8 stop ND filter on my 18-55mm, anywhere between F:9 & F:22 and shutter speeds between 4 seconds and 1.5 seconds. So that will give you an idea of the faffing around I did, trying to get as long an exposure I could get. 1.5 seconds gave respectable results, exposure wise, but after taking 30 odd images, the lag kicked in 😔. I took about 350 photos in all and I got 4 pitiful attempts. The night before though, was a different story. It was just coming up to midnight and I caught 5 cracking shots and a couple of ok ones. They're up on Instagram for you to look at. Lovely saturation and photos mate. 👍

@badger67 Hey Man, That would be a very nice lens to own in my opinion too. The 35mm is a very sharp lens and would be perfect for street photography. One of my next lenses will probably be the 18-200, that or the 80-200. They are both very nice pieces of glass. The 80-200 is basically a poor mans 70-200. All versions seem to be pretty tac sharp. Wow, you defiantly put a lot of effort into getting some daytime lightning photos. Kudos to you my friend, if you didn't get any photos, it will at least teach you how your camera responds to that type of situation. Stopping down a lens during the day is fun though. You can get some really neat motion blur effects especially with cars and people. Never stop experimenting. That's one of things that makes photography fun. No way you have your own terrace? lol🤣 Seriously though, that is awesome that you do, especially if it has a view. I can image that being a perfect spot for lightning photos. I will defiantly check out your pics, have to go to work, but when I get home I will. Thank you man I appreciate it. The D300/D300s camera is so underrated these days. Everyone wants the z system Nikon cameras, but they have no idea what they are missing on. Hope you are having a fantastic night my friend.

I'm primarily shooting a Canon 6D with an 80D for some other things. I had some basic Nikon lenses left over from when I had my D90. So, I found a clean D300 online that I got for $98 total. I took it out with a 50mm 1.8 and a vintage zoom lens. Like my Canon 6D, I really like the look of the images that come out of the D300. I've never been one of those, "My brand only" types. I've worked news and events in the film days with a Nikon and a Canon in my bag at the same time. I need to get all my cameras out a lot more. I also need to get out with the D300 and the vintage lens (and nifty-fifty) for some landscape work.
@Kris_World
@Kris_World Жыл бұрын
@WolfQuantum That's fantastic that you were able to pick up a D300 for that price. It's nice that you can use your vintage lenses again. That's really neat that you worked news and events with both of those brands of cameras. The same goes with me. I am not partial to one brand but like to use different types of cameras for different things. If I had a cannon I'd be using it as well. I feel a camera is the extension of the photographer. So if the camera gives you a different way of taking a photograph it just gives you the ability to expand your creativity. Keep taking photos and if you can get out a little more, It will give you peace and take you away from the norm. That's one of the reasons I love photography.

I have the d200 with it's super CCD sensor and film like colours. Now I'm stuck on my next camera d7200, d7500 or d500 I have considered the d7000 but it has the AA filter.
@Kris_World
@Kris_World 7 ай бұрын
@mohammedakram4529 Let me just say that the Nikon D7000 that I have does have a focusing issue and I believe it could be from the the AA filter. Not having this filter on other Nikon models I feel would be beneficial and may enable you to get even sharper images than one may expect. That being said I have heard that the Nikon D500 is a pretty nice camera and is the Nikon D300s's predecessor. It is of course going to be a bigger camera than both the Nikon D7200 and the d7500, so that may be something to consider when lugging it around. I unfortunately don't own any of these cameras except for the Nikon d7000, so I don't have any experience using these. If it were my choice though I would go with the Nikon D500 if you can afford it, but my second choice would be the D7500 because its has still has a lot of features I'm looking for including 8fps for when you need it. The D500 has a magnesium alloy body the Nikon D7500 has a carbon fiber body. It really depends on what you want out of a camera but they both have the same sensor according to Nikon. I hope this helps. Kris

@Kris_World
@Kris_World Жыл бұрын
@detodounpoco4843 ¡Hola, muchas gracias! Kris
