I think maybe the INFINITE (as well as the other pedals you compared it to) all need to be heard in the context of a full band mix in order to give one the necessary aural info needed to either axe it or not. However, I'm truly grateful that you gave me something to think about before I lay out my hard earned $$$. Thanks!
@JeremyJames_studio3 күн бұрын
You’re right. Definitely should take that into account - for me, I usually use these freeze pedals as a practice and songwriting tools so I don’t need anything more. I think in a band setting the infinite might work better depending on the style of music but again I’d prefer my base drone to be still, giving me the choice of modulating it after the fact. 👍

Do you have any info as to the guitar Ry Cooder might've used during this session? I think he's most often a Stratocaster or Tele guy, but his guitar tone on Sister doesn't really sound like a Fender
@JeremyJames_studio17 күн бұрын
Hi 👋 I really tried to find details on the actual guitar. Couldn’t quite the intel though. Sounds like p90s (maybe!) so I’m assuming it was the 330 that was in the stones camp at the time. That pic with Ry and jagger was a 330 I think and the capo on 2 suggests to me that we’re in A (minor?) The closest I got to the sound was a 335 with p90s. Anyway I tried to get close as you can see, the casino said a decent job I think 😅

@JeremyJames_studio Your video of this is excellent. I've been defeated for years in trying to figure what open tuning Cooder was in.. I'm a fan of Cooder. My favorite track of his is his theme for the movie Southern Comfort. It's in open D I think. Brilliant playing, and very visual, he illustrated the scenes of the Louisiana swamps beautifully with his clean Fender slow vibrato slide guitar

Just watched a video with Bobby Whitlock who says the rythym track was in open D. It sounds even better than way and how he plays it. Not the solo of course but this is one of those parts where the solo just fits the song so perfectly. A tasteful and concise musical statement that enhances the song.

I have this guitar in blue! Had it for about 3 years. Weirdly just started learning slide and saw your video and thought ‘no way another shijie!’
@JeremyJames_studio2 ай бұрын
Another Shijie in the wild! I have to say that I kind of thought more people would be playing them. I think perhaps the marketing or price point or something isn’t quite dialed in right. 🤔
@LeeJCander2 ай бұрын
@ yes I agree. When I bought it it was cheaper, I have an S type and a T type. The S type has stainless steel and a lot of the features you need to pay a fair bit more for now. The T style is a newer purchase at 800 GBP but I think they’re more now with shipping and everything can put it to over 1k and I think that’s a bit over what it should be. Not from a quality point of view but from the point of view of someone who is talking a risk on the brand you know?
@JeremyJames_studio2 ай бұрын
@@LeeJCanderoh right I’ve lost touch with the models and pricing but asking a grand for a Chinese guitar just won’t sit right with many players. And like you say it’s nothing to do with quality either. It’s just that story that runs through western culture of US made guitars being the best. It’s a hard one to shift. I’m sure people would even buy a US guitar if it was objectively worse than another AND pay more for the privilege! I contacted shijie trying to buy one of their necks a few years ago but they didn’t for for it. Think they need an overhaul. Cut costs somehow keep the neck and keep the rest bare bones. Really think 0:06 they need some help with marketing and overall branding.
@LeeJCander2 ай бұрын
@ yeah I agree. We had a good supplier in the uk at one point. Kept the price down by batch ordering popular colours that’s how I got my tele. What’s sad is my S type is unreal. It was the last model they made in the original factory so other than the pickups has all the more premium priced stuff, but like I said, now it costs well over 1k and I don’t like the thought of paying a significant amount more than I did for the same thing you know? Though the two I have are beautiful. My tele is set up in open D as I begin my slide journey and sounds great. Honestly, my s type though… if I put in better pickups it’d compete with a suhr. It is pretty heavy though which is weird as the tele is so light. Having said that i actually like heavy guitars.
@JeremyJames_studio2 ай бұрын
@@LeeJCander I just looked back and I paid $799 for my TLV in 2020. I thought it was slightly cheaper than that. In any case they are a grand now, that is a bit more than I would have expected. Looked at the website too...it's better than it was. Still needs an overhaul as does their line up...there's some super ugly semi-metal guitars in there. They should concentrate on the ones that sell, and try and reduce overheads. Nice that you've got the TLV in open D - that what I have it in, though I'll push it to open E. Use flat wounds on it these days, you should try that as well. What gauge are you using? I'm 12s I believe...though with flats I change them so infrequently it's hard to remember!

Hi - could have been open G but based on the solo I’d say the 5th string was a. There’s a part in the second solo that is easier that way. Are you sure mick played the Les Paul for these concerts? I was fairly sure it was the 335 🤔
@cliffbungalow93733 ай бұрын
@@JeremyJames_studioIt‘s the Les Paul with the Bigsby MT bought from KR when he was in the Blues Breakers KR plays it on Honky Tonk Woman in the movie and there are photos of MT playing slide on it The rest of the time he played an SG KR played a number of guitars including a 355, black LP Custom, Dan Armstrong plexi And once again, very nice playing.
