Design is top notch as it projects the image of a racing sailboat. Finish is excellent. I don’t buy a pen for the box and it doesn’t contribute to the writing experience. I have both the burgundy and black and in fine and medium nibs. What I find disappointing is the occasional leakage from the side of the nibs. I have several Pelikan 800 and 805 series, all in extra fine and will always reach for one of those for an enjoyable writing experience.

Hello, my wife's been considering this ink as an alternative to the one she missed, the Pelikan Edelstein Ink of the year in 2021, Golden Beryl. Thanks for reviewing this ink seven years ago, how time flies, in a medium/broad/Italic nib fountain pen, not a tiny, fine, glass dip nib pen, which many others seem to do. and for carrying on with the review despite the residue in the pen, nice to see how the GS lightened the MB Irish Green, an ink my wife has. The other gold one she's considering is Wearingeul's A Star Spattered Hill from their worldwide literature collection, but it's much more expensive. It's a deep gold 24carat colour she's after, not a yellow to amber/brown, but you have to be able to see it as gold on the page otherwise there's not point if it doesn't actually look like real gold. She has the Finetec golds in paint pans in Arabic gold, Tibetan gold and one other deep gold pan (forgot the name of) to use with a dip nib, and all are deep golds, so she wanted to find one of these gold shimmer inks for her new in Apr2024 TWSBI Eco-T Royal Jade fountain pen in a 1.1 stub Italic nib. Could you please tell us if the "925" marking is only shown on the cap or is it also shown on the body? I have a Ciselé from 2018 and a Mistral from 2029 and both fountain pens have the "925" marking *ONLY* on the cap, *NOT* on the body. Is this correct? Are they genuine?

i have 2. Dragon (dedicated to Noodler's Qin Shi Huang/First Emperor) and Boat (dedicated to Noodler's Wardens Bad Blue Heron. (In Asian mythology the Heron guides the dearly departed to their next life.) Great writing pens, feel good in hand, well balanced (I use them unposted) and are easy on the eyes. 😁👍 Available art work includes lotus, bamboo, horse, dragon, and boat. I believe there is another 1 or 2 art works offered, but I don't recall what. Mine came from Amazon, under $12 each. I chose with Fine nibs. Jinhao's number 5 nibs fit and work great, by the way. I "upgraded" to Jinhao Fine 2 tone nibs. "Classier" than the all silver standard nibs. I like there is no plastic other than the feeds.

Painful photography - Using a stark white background to fill 80% of the screen when you hope to show detail on the small black object is more than a little optimistic - try some test shots against a grey or multi-coloured background.

It's a pity that you had some wrong information. The Pelikan 4001 blue black you've chosen is known to be relatively water resistent very similar to the Scabiosa from Rohrer & Klingner. Both are called iron gall inks. The concentration of iron gall ink in these inks is not on par with Diamine Registar's ink or Akkerman 10 Akkerman Ijzer-galnoten Blauw-Zwart but it helps both inks to be relatively water resistent. It would be even more water resistent if the ink has some time to stay on the paper. After a while the ink changes from blue black to gray and then it's even more water resistent. Only the blue colour smears out and the blue colour vanishes after a while. The same is true for the "real" iron gall inks that can change the colour to dark grey of black, depending on the paper...Rohrer & Klingner was originally located in Leipzig but now is located in Zella-Mehlis Thuringa. The GDR was also called Eastern Germany but of course Saxony is more eastern and Thuringa is more central. Even Saxony wants to be Middle Germany between Southern and Northern Germany. The real old Eastern Germany was e.g. Slesia with big cities like Kattowitz beeing very deep in Poland since World War II.

Both inks Pelikan 4001 blue black and Rohrer & Klingner Salix are iron gall inks. Maybe the Salix has a higher concentration of iron gall in it. The normal Pelikan 4001 königsblau (royal blue) should be more critical for beeing washed out. As far as I understand the high concentration modern iron gall incs like Diamine Registar's inc or Akkerman 10 Akkerman Ijzer-galnoten Blauw-Zwart lose the blue colour over time and black or dark grey remains stable on the paper. The blue colour can also be washed out.

Looks like a failure to me. I prefer the noodlers ahab. It performs very good while flexing. That's my choice.

Hero 330 and 336 are hidden gems, one just can't go wrong with these two model of pens for price point of ₹75 or USD 1. Surprising I have same colour of 330 and 336 as u have :).

Do you think that Pelikan has well performing feeds? Pelikan feeds seem to be a lot shorter, have broader channels and those pens re generally considered to be wet writers. What is your opinion?

I would call it water resistant, but not waterproof.

How did it do with silver tarnishing? I love the pen but fear the ugly silver tarnish.

Does the pocket clip on yours wiggle a little bit left and write when you wiggle it from the end?
