Ahh so this new gem didn't sit there a few weeks before I found it by accident !! Beautiful. Been a great day for music. The 4th week of Advent and my wife and I were treated tonight at Mass to a magnificent Ave Maria done with Harmonies that gave me goose bumps, then I find this.... You have added very nicely to this Christmas season !! Boun Natale a te e alla tua famiglia, fratello :-)

@@oldfaithfulcovers Just some additional comments. I have dabbled in doing covers of tunes as you do, for years now. While I have posted a few on You Tube I would never have the courage to set up a You Tube channel as you have to showcase them most of them. Given the difference in the quality between your work, and mine perhaps what I lack in courage, I make up for in wisdom!! 🙂 Having said that, I've been recently struggling to come up with a new tune to cover. Your two recent Christmas tune posts and your comment about an "imaginary unreleased Byrds Christmas LP", have given me some new ideas. A bit late for this Christmas but this world can use a lot more Christmas Spirit all year long !! :-)). Thanks OFC!!!

@@Byrdfan I've still got one more Christmas song to post. Hopefully, I'll get the video ready in time. I saved the oddest one for last. I can't wait to hear your new Christmas song. Please let me know where and when you post it. You really can't go wrong with "imaginary and unreleased", can you?

How could I have missed this until today??? Ahh what could be better than putting a Byrds harmony to such a classic tune of the season?? Love it, esp the Bells Of Rhymney ending :-). Great idea Mr 6th Byrdman... What if there suddenly appeared an up to now unknown 1965 Byrds Christmas Album? Taking any requests for it?? :-)). Merry Christmas ......Great Job!!

Thanks for that entertaining comment, Byrdfan. All I can think of at the moment is "Deck the halls with lots of jangle". I would NEVER suggest "Crosby, the snow man", although I think he' would have been fine with it.

I don't know how I missed this one, anyone who can cover the association this well is a genius. These were given to us a a "challenge" in the choir, and they were very difficult to get the layering correct. Thanks for taking on the tough ones, this was very enjoyable.

C'mon, genius??? I just try to copy what I hear. The true genius is the one that creates these works of art in the first place (for me to try and copy). I gotta say though, that I DO appreciate that generous comment.... Thanks.

@@oldfaithfulcovers Yes I did say genius. A genius can recognize the fine details, and has the wisdom to know how to do justice to a great piece of art. I remember recording back in Motown Studio B just to do minor fill ins. Although this was many years ago, I remember some pearls of wisdom....Great people think that they are Posers, while Posers think that they are great, stay humble kid, it will take you a long way.

Are you not playing the lead guitar part? Why did you not show? In any case, your vocals are very good and an amazing important part of what makes this song unique.

My videos are merely a way to present my cover recordings. The music takes me between 30 and 40 hours per song to produce. Since it's a one man operation (mostly), all parts on the videos are mimed. Not all parts are represented. Time spent on videos is time not spent on recording music, which is far more important to me. Glad you're liking the channel..

I am sorry, I did not mean this as a criticism. It was just an observation. But I am very glad you replied. As I said, good cover. This song is an anthem to those who died on the Edmund Fitzgerald. Gordon Lightfoot became very good friends with the families, almost a part of their families, attending many reunions with them. I saw Lightfoot in concert a number of times, the earliest in 1967, in Hamilton Ontario. His music always brings back many fond memories. Keep up the great work. As previously said, I love your cover of Goin' Home, another great tune.
