This is one of the first things you learn as a carpenter apprentice in little Swissy land. Been using this method since 1976 to setup all my saws. Radial Arm Saw, Mitre-slider and Table saw. I used to hate the f-cking radial arm saws, because as an apprentice it was your job to make sure that they're all square. Got about 15 to 20 cuts out of it and those f-ckers were out by about 1/16th. over 12" wide board. Also hated them because they where f-cking heavy back then, at least 150 lbs. Guess who had to haul them around ? You guessed rite !!

Never seen a portable Radial Arm Saw, never even saw one in real life. All the ones I've seen were table mounted.

Is that yellow stuff spray foam? Do you recommend that too? Thank you
@HouseDoctorRay
@HouseDoctorRay 2 күн бұрын
Yes, it's spray foam but the wrong type. The foam is used behind the molding or casing. It fills in the gap between the door jamb and the framing. You should only use foam labeled for windows and doors. It's usually white, the yellow stuff is for gaps and cracks and can easily bend a door jamb or window frame.

7:09 LOL It's funny how neither one of them fit and you have to go back to basics. If two drain tools don't fit, and even your go-to groove joint pliers doesn't fit....then they need to just pass a law that these damn drain kits have to come with the tool to screw them in at this point 🤣 This is ridiculous.

Cool ideas but I am curious if the muffler creates any drag on the intake of the shop vac. In other words, how much suction do you lose using the muffler? It's a great idea and I will do it with mine but I'm just curious. I don't have an areoameter so I was wondering if you could answer the question.
@HouseDoctorRay
@HouseDoctorRay 6 күн бұрын
I don't have one either. I'm sure it slows down the airflow some but most shop vacs have more suction than you'll ever need. Just make sure you put plenty of holes in the muffler.

That was my system bypass valve. I put in bypass so I wouldn't bring the clean tank back inside and find a flooded basement.

Good tutorial, nice jig. A simple note, at 8:15 NEVER keep your fingers anywhere near the blade. If that saw hits a knot or jumps up you could lose the fingers or a hand. I've personally had to pickup a coworker's fingers from simple mistakes like this and it wasn't fun for either of us.

I am a professional cabinet maker. I just don’t understand this whole track saw fad? A good tablesaw or panel saw, I have never seen a cabinet shop use a track saw. If you are at a job site and you know you need panels a certain size, just be prepared and cut them at your shop and bring them with you. I think they are kinds of a gimmick
