I love my BRG 1969 Sprite! Everytime I drive it I'm giddy like a 10 year old girl at a Taylor Swift concert.

Had one back in the early '70's; BRG , black interior/black top. No mention of the fact that the windshield was so short it required 3 windshield wipers as it wasn't tall enough for only 2. One of my favorite memories is one summer night when I was driving down LSD (Lake Shore Drive for non-Chicagoans) and a guy pulled up alongside us in an XKE and passed my girlfriend a joint.

Words can't describe how much I want one. I absolutely love fast sedans. And this Saab has to be the coolest out there. The design is so manly and somehow sinister. The build quality is great. The engine and drivetrain is superb. It is so hard to find a bad thing about this car. It is a car for people who actually understand cars. The German cars are very good (M3, S4, C63) but this Saab makes them all look ordinary and boring.

I'm not much into car racing, but I AM into not getting speeding tickets, and I really like the cadence of this video along with the strategic use of memes. I would love to see more "educational"-like videos like this one, if you'd be up to making them. :-)

It's usually easy to spot an airplane timing cars. Look for a relatively low plane making loops around a section of road ahead of you. You should be able to see them a mile or two ahead of you clearly following the road but maybe off to the side. You will also spot painted markings across the road. The plane times you going from one painted mark to the next one. They are a specific distance apart and a stopwatch will tell the plane your speed.

Great Video man, This may be a stupid question but I am pretty new on this, can I use a 2.5 engine that came from an automatic donor if my mx5 is manual or it does not matter? I was thinking about doing the same swap, but most of the good car donors I find are auto.

I am the proud owner of a 2015 PRHT. I have spent $3,000 on the suspension, b/c I felt it drove like my mother’s Buick! It now holds the line and drives like a dream! Unfortunately, she recently blew her head gasket to the tune of $1,600🤮! I bought her as a retirement gift to myself.

intercooler,550cc injectors or bigger, 3 inch full exhaust and e85 and you should be making around 380-400hp but with the regular saab aero v6 you need the 19t turbo that this turbo x came with from factory

Question is the extra noise coming from the exhaust or does the engine under the hood just make more noise? Just asking because I don't want a head ache on a long drive..
@PetrolHead1
@PetrolHead1 6 ай бұрын
This had a header as well as a full exhaust. You’re likely hearing that noise coupled with slight rubbing of the header on the firewall that was later corrected.

I've got a 98 z28. How did you modify the pedals for heel/toe? Which Sparco seat and seat mounts are you using?
@PetrolHead1
@PetrolHead1 7 ай бұрын
Those were actually Mugen pedals I found on eBay. Removed rubber OEM pads and just drilled/screwed them right in at the best angle for heel toe. Seat was a sparco evo and bracket was from Planted.

@hawkeyeinthehouse2995
@hawkeyeinthehouse2995 10 ай бұрын
I enjoyed your interesting and informative video, thank you SIR. I'm going to be 71 in October and I want a RELATIVELY inexpensive TOY to drive. For many years I drove manual transmissions. My first car was a 1959 VW BUG then I got a 1964 MGB roadster then a 1974 Fiat X1/9 which was FUN to drive but had NO POWER, it would STEAL your breath away in the curves especially after I changed the wafer thin 145SR-13's to 185/60VR-13's so it was DIFFICULT to get in TROUBLE trying to HOT ROD IT. The MGB was a different story it had LOTS of POWER considering I was driving a 1959 VW BUG with 36hp. The MG did handle pretty good compared to the BUG but still not anywhere near the X1/9. I started to look at the BMW Z3 especially with the inline 6 made by BMW is a GREAT STRONG and DEPENDABLE engine. I found a 1997 Z3 2.8-i6 with 114Kmiles for $9K, oh IT'S A 5speed manual which is the ONLY WAY I WOULD GET IT. SO WHAT DO YOU THINK, SHOULD I GET IT. IS THAT A DECENT PRICE. IS THAT YEAR inline 6 plagued with PROBLEMS? I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE YOUR ADVICE.😉😁👍
@PetrolHead1
@PetrolHead1 6 ай бұрын
Could be a decent price depending on miles, history and condition. I’ve never regretted paying a little more for the best cared for car I could find. Remember you’re “buying” the owner as much as you’re buying the car. God bless!

My car! An 06 in "winning blue", just RHD in Australia. With 6kg/4.5kg coilovers and decent tyres (PS4) it's a mind bending scalpel that is dailied. Love that final comment too. If you're overly oppositional and perfectionistic you will miss out on a lot.
@Decebalus

I've had one of these for about 18 months, mine was a Japan import so right hand drive (I live in a RHD country) and is almost the same as this one except it has the AMG sport bodykit and wheels which makes it look just a little better in my totally unbiased opinion - if I squint I can pretend it's an E55. 😅 I couldn't quite tell in the video but mine also has paddle shifters in addition to the stick and front and rear parking sensors with proximity lights, not quite as good as a camera but better than pure audio sensors at least. Even now I think this is one of the cheapest ways to get this level of performance and comfort, at least from an initial purchase price perspective. Fuel economy is pretty terrible by modern standards but you don't really buy a car like this if that's a concern. Mine was quite low mileage, 43,000 kilometres, when I bought it and was in need of a couple of age related maintenance items (e.g. spark plugs) but I haven't encountered any non-routine issues with it and I drive it a lot. My only annoyance is the heater is very loud for some reason, although that might possibly be a quirk of my particular one rather than a fleet wide issue.
