Hey Friendlycat.....well I managed to get all of South America and North America. I have turned communist, so I managed to get the achievement Red Hot Chili Peppers. I am at war with Allies and Japan and China. I saved up enough PP to release the first eleven native peoples in North and South America, and can release America and Mexico as Reorganized countries. BUT for some reason the last remaining ones (Reorganized Canada and Established the Guianas) which are greyed out. Do you know what I can do to unlock those last ones? I did the first eleven just going down the list, but I think part of the last two are greyed out because I released Inuit already or because I have not defeated the Allies yet? Please help!

We should be be able to click the decisions, even if we released other countries like the Inuit. When you hover your mouse over the decision, it highlights on the map the states you need to control. The requirements do not seem for us to need to own the states, just control them. For Canada, you might be missing an island off the west coast, or Newfoundland, the island off the east coast. For the Guianas, there are only six states that you need to control. They are all on the mainland. If you do not control Rio Branco (969), then your puppet must control Amapá (939). That may be a bug by the devs, and unlikely to be the issue in your case anyway. It's possible that there is another bug that is preventing you from being able to click the decision, but I did not find one. Either they further nerfed it or it's a skill issue: I cannot for the life of me end the civil war in due time. The AI immediately spawns in three divisions whether I deleted the military or not. I always get completely bogged down in Argentina. By the time I am done there the timing on everything else is so off I just cant do it and it's starting to frustrate me to no end.

I agree is it challenging, and a slower war in Argentina will drag the whole run down. Controlling individual units, instead of using a frontline, is helpful. Practice may be another key to success. We can practice the civil war and Argentina war on non-ironman. Save the game before each war starts, so you can replay the wars several times. Use the console command to turn off fog of war. After you can quickly win with fog of war off, practice a few more times with fog of war on. After you are confident, proceed with a fresh ironman game. During the civil war, naval invade on the northern most ports. When fog of war off, watch how the AI reacts. Watch how they move troops to the south. During the war with Argentina, watch how the AI moves troops around as you achieve focused breakthroughs. Pin divisions that react to encirclements. Good luck!

@friendlycat4170 Okay so I finally did it by brute forcing my way up north with cavalry and liberal use of last stands to fend off Other Chile. Civil War ended a week after starting. Sometimes the most stupid looking method is the most effective I guess 😂 But thank you for the advise regarding fog of war, that actually helped me figuring out where Other Chile puts its troops.

Maybe. There isn't a lot of action for this achievement if you take the more efficient route. I have a video that describes the process: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJ3TdJZrZ7VgecUsi=at1zHJpbot2Pl8NI&t=4865. In brief: Hold off Italy long enough to take the focus Boarding the Train. Then capitulate. Spend the next four years or so of game time clicking decisions while in the UK. There is a 50% chance that the UK will accept your request to transfer control of the state of Palestine to you. If the UK declines your request, restart the run. If the UK accepts your request, then help the UK retake Ethiopian land when WW II starts. This is easy, as the UK will generally retake your land without any help from you. When you have retaken Ethiopia, you'll have a decision available to move your capital to Palestine. Take the decision and the achievement is complete.

The cavalry divisions are six width (3 battalion, no support companies) - 3:50. The Turkey invasion is challenging. Mastering the Turkey invasion here will help you in naval invasions for other achievements. Good luck!

I’m new to this game and after watching a couple hours of a tutorial I felt confident in playing as Uruguay to try and defeat Brazil. I prepared my armies and lost within 2 whole days

Realistically, you may need to have at least 100 hours play time in this game to be able to play as Uruguay and defeat Brazil. This is a complicated game, and Uruguay is much weaker than Brazil. If I may suggest, first play as Germany and become comfortable defeating the Allies. Then perhaps play as weaker major countries like France and Russia. After you are confident you can conquer the world with those countries, then move on to the strong minor nations like Brazil. I would only try playing a weak minor nation like Uruguay after mastering the game mechanics with the more powerful countries. It may be frustrating to try to take on powerful countries as a weak minor country while still learning HOI4. Really well done of you to attempt to beat Brazil as Uruguay! I am impressed!

I did not use front lines, except for maybe a few divisions for the reason you said of control issues. I micro the divisions individually. I did not naval invade, because I've had challenges getting naval superiority over Argentina when I play as Chile.

yeah this does not work in ive tried this like 5 times and every time turkey had like twice the amount of units im seeing in this video. the naval invasion fail like every time beause turkey has a unit on the port.

Two marine divisions landing on a plains tile would normally defeat a single Turkey division. If that isn't working, we can also send all four marine divisions to Turkey's eastern plains tile port. Launching a new naval invasion to a different port target after a failed naval invasion is okay. It doesn't really slow down the run. In this video, Turkey had a division on each port and the two marines assigned to each invasion landed fairly easily. For the west port, we wait a few days after the war starts for Turkey's troops to move west into Greece. At the start of the war, Turkey will have a few divisions nearby and they transit west into unguarded Greek territory. If we launch immediately after the war starts, there's a good chance the landing marines will land into Turkey's troops as they head west. That could result in a failed landing. For the east port, I don't think I've ever seen more than a unit or two in that region. There are too many Turkish ports for the limited Turkish divisions to guard each port with several divisions. In this video, I actually also launched an invasion with cavs into the southern Turkish port in case it was unguarded. It was guarded and my invasion failed. Last, we can also practice by playing non-ironman and turning off fog of war when the war starts. It will show us Turkey's divisions and how limited they are in defending all of their ports. When we restart in ironman, we can be confident that we can make the invasions work since we know approximately how many divisions Turkey has. If I can help further, please let me know.

Okay, how close are you to having an army that looks like mine? What is your army composed of on 8/30/1937? At the time of my invasion, shown at 5:45, I have four marine divisions at about 90% strength, 10 calvary divisions of 3 battalions at 100% strength (spade division icon), and 10 calvary divisions of 1 battalion at 100% strength (the dice division icon). I don't think I had any lend lease by this time, so recreating that army should be possible, I think..

Everytime i ignite the civil war with the same focuses you have done and try to rush the victory points to cap them they always have units to reinforce. Undermine the Carabineros de Chile didn't help either :/ Thanks in advance

One thing that's helps me is to practice in non-ironman. When the civil war starts, use the console command to see how many divisions they spawn with. When you play your actual ironman run for the achievement, we may not know exactly where their divisions are, but we can be confident that there are the same number in non-ironman: three to four. The guidance is below is copied from another comment: When the civil war starts, we can convert our most northern division to cavalry, strategically redeploy ("railroad") it north, and attempt to take the nearby victory points. If the enemy does not spawn in their southern area for your run, then you can take the victory points and end the civil war. If the enemy does spawn a division or divisions in their southern area, they will prevent you from moving north. This means they have insufficient divisions to defend their central and northern ports. We may launch 7 day naval invasions with single divisions into each port. The civil war will last about a month longer, but should still end quickly.

4:00 shows that I use cavalry divisions of 1 battalions, 3 battalions, and 6 battalions None of those divisions have support companies. Later in the run, I add support Art to the division with 6 battalions. I then add to that template support Eng, Recon, and AA.

Why did I make multiple templates? If that's what you meant, it's because I want sufficient divisions to cover the front, but at the beginning I don't have the industry for a lot of 6 or 12 width divisions. As industry grows, then I convert the smaller 2 width and 6 width divisions to the larger 12 width division templates. If that's not what you are asking, feel free to let me know.

Was just about to start achievement hunting and was about to try my hand at the Czech achievements. Was hoping it wouldn't end up with me snaking my way through the Middle East and Asia, but I guess it's inevitable lol. Your voice is really nice :) If you want any ideas, I'd like to see how you attempt the Crusader Kings 2 achievement. Was able to get the other 3 CK achievements, but 2 has been wearing me out. I don't find it particularly hard, just takes a really long time to do and was seeing if there were shorter ways.

Yeah, I think it's good to be prepared to fight through the Middle East and Asia,. Then, naval invade or paradrop to Australia. My plan for this run was to capitulate the UK without going through the Middle East to Australia. This had to be done before the US joins the war to get to peace conference. In the peace conference with the Allies, annex almost everything, except ensure that one state of the UK survives without being a puppet, annexed, or have its government changed. Then, justify and declare on the UK. We would be at war with a Democratic UK while controlling the necessary state in Australia. In this run, that did not work out because Mexico declared early on both the US and UK which caused the US to join the Allies. Thanks for the input about Crusader Kings 2. I'll take a look. I cannot think of any particularly new or clever way to complete that achievement, compared to the guides out there.

That seems likely, but not certain. The United Kingdom's invite of a country into the Allies seems to depend on World Tension and how the invitation would affect its security. Shortly after Germany invades Poland, the UK feels threatened. Inviting the US into the Allies would put them at war with Chile, so the UK is reluctant to invite the US to join the Allies. The UK is also reluctant to guarantee nations when they feel threatened, as that places them at risk of additional enemies. As time passes, the UK feels more secure and may both start inviting countries into the Allies and guaranteeing countries. If your run results in the US joining the Allies, press on. You can capitulate the US and then continue your run to victory.

8 battalions of marines and 3 battalions of line artillery for a 25 width. When I had enough medium tanks, I added a battalion for a 27 width. Support companies are pioneer, artillery, AA, and recon. 7:19 shows the visual of the division. edit: 5:45 shows the tank design and 6:46 show the airplane design. I can see that Rosenberg asked a follow-up question about tank and plane designs, but their question is not yet showing on the public part of this video page.

You should be good. Even after you switch to communism, you should still be able to see the decolonization decisions to release countries. The achievement does not seem to require you to be non-aligned. Skipping the Undermine the Carabineros de Chile focus will have a significant impact on the civil war as I think it determines the number of enemy divisions that spawn. I took all of the other focuses except for the upper right one because their long-term benefit is greater than the delay cost in starting our conquest. You can skip two of the ones i took without too much issue.

I don't think they nerfed this. Our focus tree should look like the screen at 3:33 when we start the civil war focus. This includes taking the focus Undermine the Carabineros de Chile. The enemy will spawn with 3 or 4 divisions. If they spawn at the north end of Chile, we can convert our divisions to cavalry divisions and walk into the capital before the enemy makes it to the front. If divisions spawn closer to the front, you may not be able to advance to the capital without combat. Recruit a few one battalion cavalry divisions and naval invade the more northern ports. I just did a test run to defeat the civil war and they spawned one division right next to the front. A few one division naval invasions quickly ended the civil war. Good luck!

I meant to say that I take War Propaganda, not Exhort Heroism. In this run, I clicked the War Propaganda decision. You are correct that Exhort Heroism can have limited long-term effect. War Propaganda provides 6% to 6.5% increased base War Support, depending on when you click it.

How many and what divisions did you have for the war with the USA? I only have ~36 cavalry, 6 battalions and support artillery, and 4 marine divisions. First 2-3 months i can push and cirlce, but then US get war economy and start deploy too many divisons. What you can advise?

I had 48 divisions of infantry, 6 battalions and support artillery, and 4 marine divisions. It seems like we have similar army sizes. I also had some small divisions of approximately 1 battalion size in training on port defense. I don't attack when the war starts. I let the US attack into my land for about a month before launching my own counterattack. This weakens the US and results in them being in my land for an easier encirclement later. I think the US gets a decision that lets them go to war economy if they are in a defensive war and they lose a core state. As long as they are attacking you in your territory, they cannot easily go to war economy, as far as I know. The war started approximately October 19, 1939 (11:05), but I don't start my own attacks into US territory until the end of November (12:00). That way I have the momentum to keep pushing when they go to war economy and ramp up their production. Good luck!

23:53 it’s not the coordination dude, it’s the reinforce rate. Radio is the only way to improve it until you get *deep* into doctrines, and even then the buff pales in comparison. Absolutely insane you’ll talk about not getting industry techs because you only have 5-10 factories and then go research 10 airplane techs… for your 10 airplanes

Thanks for the feedback! I'm working on a balance between spending too much screen time on templates and not enough. Generally, I first add support artillery and support pioneers, then gradually add infantry or motorized battalions in a ratio of 3 to 1 to line artillery or motorized artillery until the division reaches 27 combat width. Along the way I'll add support recon and support anti-air. Later I add support logistics or support maintenance. I didn't go War Economy during the civil war primarily because I have better uses for the political power later when I am at war with Mexico. 150 political power buys approximately six nations' lend-lease for a year and half. That's worth much more to me than a few more military factories for my country. @@apoivre Good to know about war economy with war support advisor! My marine template is 8 battalions of marines, 3 battalions of line artillery, support artillery, support pioneers, support recon, and support anti-air for 25 combat width. I later duplicate the division, add a medium tank battalion for 27 combat width, and change the division icon to the sword. 7:19 shows most of the original 25 width marine division.

We would be unable to complete a naval invasion due to lack of naval superiority to launch the invasion or the divisions not securing a port. If we don't have naval superiority, place your subs on convoy raiding to increase the likelihood that England diverts naval forces to its convoys. Press the launch button on your naval invasion even if you don't have naval superiority, so that if the British fleet leaves the channel even for one hour your invasion will launch. To secure a port, launch three invasions in increments of two divisions each. Two division on a port and two divisions on either side of the port are usually sufficient. Manually launch the division that attacks the port approximately 12 hours before launching the four side divisions. That way, our port attack divisions will engage the port defenders before the side divisions land. If the port defenders are unusually strong, then cancel the invasions of the four side divisions so they return to base.

@@friendlycat4170 Thank you very much for the quick response! I tried again and I think the problem was that I activated the landing mission before I started the war with England. If you pause the game, start the war and then let some (minimal) time pass and then start the landing mission, then it works. At least it worked for me on this run 😀

How many factories do you put on tanks and motorized?

Approximately 10% to 20% on tanks and 5% to 15% on motorized. It depends partially on the need for other military equipment. The greater the lend-lease and stockpile of infantry equipment, artillery, and support equipment, the more factories on tanks and motorized.

@@friendlycat4170 Hasn't so far. Five tries and I keep screwing up. Last run I accidently lowered democratic power so low I couldn't reach over 30% to be able to join Allies before attacking USA so I was fighting Axis AND Allies. Plus I have trouble taking out Argentina and Mexico before WW2 kicks off. Going to give it another go when I get back home from vacation. Any more tips for me?

Great guide chap! This'll be very useful for my chilean runs. I'm not trying this route yet but I've been casually touching the brown path of Chile (specifically, the one with the kingdom that's kinda worse than the pan-hispanic route). The Kingdom of Chile path at least allows you to invade the Netherlands early through Germany (since you automatically join Axis), killing Netherlands means infinite manpower and resources. Once I conquer Netherlands & its puppets I inmediately justify to annex Argentina and the war starts at mid-39's. I do that because just declaring war to that country allows me to skip like 4 or 5 focuses that block my way for a nice third research slot (and it works, you get the research slot + progress to your final goal that is forming the Kingdom)... but there's my problem: The war tends to last a lot for me even with the resources and manpower of my puppets, I can definately win that war but it usually takes me a lot of time that I'd rather waste preparing and fighting the actual ww2 before USA joins. But yeah, I'll try using your research and cav-invasion tips to see what can I do now. I don't know if 39's are too late for the invasion but Argentina usually lacks troops to fill the whole border even at that date... but once you declare, they eventually get a lot more. Anyways, great video! Liked & subscribed.

I am glad this is useful! For Argentina, you may want to focus on small encirclements.
