Wow I'm definitely going to try that aquaduct train bridge
@mpcamposz23 сағат бұрын
Do you plan on building a Presidente Vargas Avenue inspired road? Oh boy would I love to see that 🤩 By the way, you mentioned the "aquaduct" looks like an abandoned railroad. Actually, it is a tram line called the Bonde de Santa Teresa. It's technically a public transit line, except it's mostly used by tourists rather than for actually getting people around the city!

I struggle with height maps also because its been a real struggle getting free data for the UK, after weeks and weeks of searching i have found only one site and that requires a pass to access, which requires your card details, even though it is free, which im not willing to do, so im making my own recreation of my home town by hand and its so far relatively easy by using Image overlay mod and then placing a 4096x4096 image of topographic map and a street map, took a little fiddling getting them both lined up but once i did i put them in the correct folder and then used the mod to overlay the images on the map
@charlesingram94714 күн бұрын
one little thing, i am not sure if there is a button to switch between images within the folder so had to place them in the folder one at a time.

Hello, I am sorry but what is the mod you use to remove the demand of zoning, water, etc. because i do not seem to find one 😭😭😭 ah and what is the other mod you used to remove parts of the buildings? Sorry for asking too much lol

Not sure of any mod to remove zoning...better bulldozer mod is what you are looking for

Also I think a running line over the aqueduct would make for such amazing shots, like the trams going over the bridge in Porto

In real life that tram actually functions and it is beautiful as it takes you from the bottom of hill up until the higher end, where favelas start to pop up. The name of the line is called Santa Teresa Tram and their trams are beautiful. Should definitely check it out for inspiration.

It's so interesting to see, how you take the lack of assets, mods like PO and so on as challenge. I mean: chimneys as bridge arches! 😂 And it works. Cudos to your creativity!

That's looking amazing, DH! I'm glad you liked the tips! It's certainly looking MUCH more like Rio de Janeiro now, and I'm super happy you added the wavy pattern to the beachside pathways, they are super iconic IRL as well. You're really doing a great job despite the limited assets we have in the game - the 'old town' bit looks lovely with the mediterranean houses, and the beach is certainly right for a brazilian city now (you even got a little beach soccer field there, hooray!) The aqueduct IRL has become a tram line, maybe that could be easier for you to implement since trams don't require huge stations in game. The only remaining tip I have is to add more trees to the sidewalks, specially in the high density areas. I know it will hide a bit of your superb detailing work, but it will be worth it to give the city a look that's quite different to north american metropolises
@sully_skylines6 күн бұрын
So much character in the city already buddy, the old town is perfect! And great innovation on the aquaduct too.. just one thing, don’t forget about the network fencing/NetTool, you were using the prop line tool instead 👍

Check the small greenhouse props (not the large industrial extractors). they have a door and look a bit like a glass entrance wall. Other props that cna be uses as doors are outhouses and some rooftop accesses. or you check some small 2x4 commercial or office buildings that you can can move halfway into the station to make an entrance hall

Hey! I am from Rio! Great vid. The arcos da lapa were an acqueduct, but then became a bridge to a tram system that is still being used to this day.
@jemsyago71636 күн бұрын
Honestly you really are one of the best builders. I didn't think you could make stuff like this in Cities: Skylines 2 so it's really quite impressive. The old town really has a unique character that isn't like anything else from what I've seen.
@justheretocomment48105 күн бұрын
what part of this would not be possible to do in CS1?
@jemsyago71635 күн бұрын
@@justheretocomment4810 oh, I was actually talking about how stuff like this was difficult to make in Cities: Skylines 2 specifically. But the surfaces seem to be much easier to precisely make here, so I guess that's a boon of this game.

Don't know the English name for the end of line stoppers, but they are a security asset, so better not bulldoze it.
@tactical19815 күн бұрын
Buffers.
@tigonologdring91896 күн бұрын
Yeah... um... wow. That viaduct!? Bonkers stuff. Your stops _should_ work as long as the line is linked to the stop itself and not just a waypoint. You just need the interest like for any "regular" line. So, how you going to do the Cristo Redentor? With snowmen and chimneys? LOL
@jemsyago71636 күн бұрын
Pretty sure they used the existing monk statue in the game from what I remember. But I'm not sure if DirtyH will continue using it.

5:10 it's called Arcos da Lapa. The streetcars still work. Both Lapa and the neighborhood next to Central do Brasil (the train station), called Gamboa, are places related to the creation of Samba and Rio's night life. Next to Gamboa, in the old port, the Saúde neighborhood is were samba was invented. Those are some of the oldest places in Rio and have strong relations to Rio's East African ancestry. Lapa is a legendary bohemian spot in Rio. Lot's of bars, some brothels and a place for shows called Circo Voador. Rio is really harsh with elevation changes and I think you are doing a great job with it. Thx for sharing! Also, one thing about Rio is colonial Iberic buildings and the tall buildings have large windows, to get lots of air flowing (it's hot AF) and sun light. About Copacabana beach: There are TONS of things and pedestrian activity in the, very large, sand strip. The gardening and tiling were made by Burle Marx. It's very different, he is a genius.

Os arcos da lapa foram construídos para transportar água, depois que o saneamento avançou na cidade os arcos se tornaram desnecessários, sendo convertidos em uma ponte para o bondinho

I love your builds. But man, it seems you sold your soul to Paradox when prising this CS-2 shit game so much, hahaha. I hope you took a lot of money ( and I'm happy if you did ) from Paradox's pockets to promote this shity 2006 game. CS-2 is ugly, even uglier than (not-modded) base CS-1, performance is shit, gameplay is just a shell of what the full game will eventually be after milking us for the next 10 years with overpriced 100 DLC's. And even with 100 DLC's, it will still be a shit game without a HUGE modding community who will again save the game with 1000 assets and awesome mods, like it was the case with CS-1. Greed is ruining modern gaming. Give customers as little as you can, and charge every little bit of improvement as much as you can (DLC's). Modders will fix your boring game anyway and for FREE. Hate Paradox and most AAA developers.
