The Ultimate City Painter | Cities Skylines - Europe 65

Hey everyone and Welcome to my series based on European cities and towns.
I intend on creating a very detailed build and as such, I have used an extensive list of mods and assets. The idea is to build three distinct towns all linked with a train. Each town will represent something i.e Tourism, different counties etc.. The series has evolved into now just small towns and villages representing a country within Europe.
I'm taking inspiration from the entire region of Europe but starting small with the "Old Town" and eventually building into the first town, Gotsberg then onwards from there. We have completed a Cinque Terre, Italy - inspired town called Borgovino, a Spanish style town based on Ronda in Spain, a small UK styled fishing village including some parts of Wales, we also just completed Santorini, Greece and we have also completed Moustiers Sainte Marie in France. We also visited Switzerland and Venice. Next is Piodao in Portugal!

CS2 content for me is just super uninspiring, the game is so lacking that most cities end up looking the same. Glad you're back to CS1 - this is just elevations above what you can achieve in CS2!

I played CS2 for a about half an hour last night. Even with 15 mods installed from thunderstore, the game just doesn't scratch that itch yet. No detailing etc to be had. Keep up the CS1 content- it's still unmatched for what we like to do in this game- high detail builds.

Oh yeah! This is waaaaaay better than Cities Skylines 2! The"new" game seems like a couple of steps under the original (highly) modded game. As a city "Painter" I'm going to wait a long time before buying CS2

Thank you for sticking with cs1. I really can't see ordinary gameplay of cs2 anymore. I don't enjoy watching regular players and playing it myself either. I love cs1 though ❤

The purpose is to be a natural pool noeadays, as there is a small stream from a natural spring nearby. This stream eventualy goes down the moutain to join a main river. In the past it was built for 2 purposes, water supply reservoir and to agricultural water supply trough small channels. I may state that the water is pretty damn cold, but in the summer it is a relief. Also, nearby you chould check the small village Avô (literally translates to grandfather). Side note, as a viewer, i have the same opinion, cs2 as of now is for who wants to play citty planner, cs1 is to "paint" canvas of art. Keep it up!

YES! CS1 content! I agree with you 100% on your opinions on CS2. Unfortunately it just ended up being a half baked attempt to reset an IP in a shameless cash-grab to sell the same DLC's all over again. CS2 is simply just not as good as CS1 with just a few mods.

I'm not going anywhere, mate. I'm still here for CS1 content as long as you keep making it 😊. As you say, CS2 isn't a city painter, it's just a game right now, just the latest iteration of Sim City. It's not possible to make beautiful vignettes with it as you do with CS1.

First off as a Portuguese it’s amazing to see such an iconic old village being built in such detail and so well in CS, huge props to the quality of your work and creativity!!! About the part that made decide to go with Piodão it’s a ‘praia fluvial’ or river beach, and it’s amazing spot to spend your summer :D

So happy to see you back on CS1 with your creative flair. I have not bought the new game but for what I've seen it doesn't let us be as artistic and creative. There must be a lot of us out there who prefer making there cities beautiful and personalised with mods and a diversity of assets. Until CS2 can let me do that and be artistic then it's never going to appeal. For those who want some generic city building experience then go to CS2 and for those who want to design and detail stay with the original. I hope they don't try and close the old game down, I think I would cry. Love your work xxx

My mind is blown when I hear creators say their CS1 views have dipped. I prefer to watch CS1 and it seems like everyone else still does too(at least most of the commenters). Your style is probably my favorite and when I see creators like yourself continue to use CS1 I get excited! So many creators have damn near abandoned CS1 and most of their CS2 content looks too similar. That game is nowhere ready in my opinion.

Superb as always. As someone else has said. I am not going anywhere. I love watching creators who let their imagination run wild when building, and with CS1 that can be achieved all we have to do is watch all your builds so far to see the varied villages, towns, cities and futuristic builds that you have done to see what can be done when they create a game and let the community join in and develop it more with the thousands of assets and mods available. Taking the game to another level completely and beyond what anyone could have imagined when CS1 was released. I know CS2 is still relatively new. but for me it looks like most games released these days. The people creating it are rushed and pushed into getting it out quickly to appease the Directors or shareholders of the companies or both, and then try and fix it after release. ( I am probably wrong with this) but that is what a lot of games look like these days. Hopefully CS2 will be turned around before the damage is done long term and people find alternatives. Sorry for moan DH. If you keep creating the builds you have given us over the years then we will all still be here for our fix

Have loved Europe In Detail since the start, DH. Particularly the UK section (totally not a biased Brit or anything). Here's a suggestion for one of the next locations: How about Iceland? Unique terrain, unique architecture and you can utilise the waterfall props to make huge waterfalls like in Iceland?

I feel the same about CS2. Tho I have fun during the Livestreams I do, mess around with the mods. But the lack of props and assets makes the game 'boring' aesthetically. Luckily there is CS1 so I can detail the crap out of my builds. And watch awesome detailers like yourself for inspiration. Great episode DH!

I much prefer CS1 content - it's just so much more dynamic. I can sort of sense the big CS content creators are trying their best with CS2 but its really not picking up where CS1 left off and more or less just starting where CS1 started. Anyways, I still love your content DH and enjoy hearing the kiwi accent for CS videos.

This might sound like a silly idea, but could you maybe do a Caribbean series? Like where you make a bunch of caribbean cities like your doing in this series? Wood buttress is called a 'pile' on the WS under props. The stone asset is a little harder to find as it's from a chiense creator under a chiense name

C:S2 is not a sequel to C:S1. It's just nothing, going nowhere. It's not going to be a better version in a few years when they fix things and add things. It's going to fade into obscurity. If you asked a group of developers to guess how many people and how long it took to make by examining the code, most would say it was probably developed by a single person over the course of a year. The game would need to be scrapped entirely and redone to get rid of the legacy issues that game has imbedded in it. I already attended the funeral, the game is dead and buried. 97% players left as of last week.

The mods required are quite dependent but the main ones are game anarchy and prop anarchy. Building anarchy is good still I think too

CS2 is a rough watch. Even with mods trickling in there's only so much you can do. Until props and custom assets (and hopefully custom ground textures and LUTs) are added it's just a bland game. I tuned into some CS2 series the other day and it looks like creators have found ways to add some unique personality to their cities, which is a credit to them, but it's a frustratingly uphill battle. So disappointing there were absolutely zero features for detailing at launch. Trees are one of the few options you have to customize your cities look and they actively fight against you with that annoying spacing and aging mechanic.

I am happy i never buyed CS2... I got over 10.000 hours in CS1 and build highly detailed... the fact that CS1 dont even got Probs was an Instant dead sentence for the game... I cant get it how a game dev can be so lost and disconnected to its Community...
